Rick Gibson is a sculptor and performance artist from Canada known for his controversial works exploring cannibalism, body modification, and sexual themes. Some of his best known works include Foetus Ear-rings and Sniffy the Rat. Gibson also studied holographic interferometry, using it to create holograms that reveal internal forces on objects, such as one depicting the stress on a plastic dildo from a stone placed on top of it. His holograms have pushed boundaries and provoked questions around representing controversial topics.

- 4. Force and Stress He studied holographic interferometry. The image on the right is a two- exposure hologram of a plastic dildo. During the first exposure, a small stone is left sitting on the top of the dildo. Between the first and second exposure, I removed the stone. The second exposure is then made without the stone. The final hologram shows a pattern of lines that reveal the amount and direction of the force exerted on the dildo.
