Ringinmathing Web Design Project
Client: Ringinmathing Body Piercing Studio
Duration: 12weeks September/December
Proposal
I proposed to Ringinathing Body Piercing Studio that by the Deadline in December I will have a
completed and live website for the shop. I chose this client as it is close to home so I can have
regular meeting to discuss on-going progress, and because I have worked with this client before on
graphic print projects. The design project is essential for my portfolio and it is the perfect
opportunity to learn CSS.
I have agreed with the client that I will produce a website including a gallery. We discussed the
possibility of rebranding the current shop logo, but as the Business has been in going for 16years the
client wishes the changes to be subtle as to not confuse the customers.
By the deadline I will have produced sketched & Digital wire framingalongside an interactive
prototype. I will have a live CSS Website online at the domain name www.ringinmathing.com.
Another must for the client is a range of business cards with the new domain name and all relevant
social networking sites and phone numbers.
Briefly discussed but not essential is the use of merchandising. The client works at various
conventions regularly and at present has no free merchandise to boost brand recognition e.g. pens,
stickers, badges. I wish to modernise the current logo and incorporate that into the free
merchandising and possibly t-shirt designs to sell at shows.
Initial Client Questions & Answers
Can you tell me about your target audience / user? (e.g. age, gender, social status etc. - anything
you feel relevant)
Everyone. Customers are teenagers/young adults (16yrs old and up) around 60% of the time, but we
also have a loyal customer base that has grown older along with the business over the last 16years.
It dose appeal to both sexes of varied ages as this is something specialist. Now body modification is
becoming more mainstream so the customers have grown and the products are not unique to any
particular genre.
What is the precise wording of your logo, with punctuation etc.? E.g. McDonald's
Ringinmathing Body Piercing Studio
Do you have a strapline / tagline / slogan and if so, what is the precise wording with punctuation?
If you can Pinch it, We can Pierce it.
4. Can you list 5 keywords / descriptors that best describe your product?
Unique / Professional / Individual / Distinctive / Hygienic.
5. If your product was an animal, or a combination of animals, what would it be?
It could be a few different animals. A pit-bull/Rottweiler, because it is something that is often
misunderstood. A chameleon, as it is something that is always changing, that can be as subtle or
loud as you want it to be.
6. What opinion would you like your customers to have of your business and products?
A comfortable relaxing environment that offers a professional, unique and reliable service.
7. Are there any logos / brands that you particularly like and why?
Nothing that sticks out. I am fond of the tattoo style illustrations and type, but I think there is a line
with what works for body piercing. We are regularly confused as a tattoo studio, so I think it could
mislead customers further. I do think something that is as bold and distinctive as that style works
well.
8. How do you feel about the use of images and iconography within your brand?
I currently use the Ball Closure Ring as an icon; it’s the most recognisable piece of body piercing
jewellery. I’m not opposed to the use of imagery but I don’t want to stray too far from what is
already associated with my business.
