Research (C-FAR), National Pork Board (NPB), and Worldwide BioEnergy
o Investigated the liquefaction mechanism of biomass, such as animal wastes, sawdust, miscanthus,

high-pressure reactor, completion of experimental testing, and interpretation of results
o Successfully demonstrated continuous oil production on a pilot-scale unit with swine manure as

o Optimized conversion and sugar yield for ethanol fermentation by measuring the kinetics in a
batch reactor and researching the mechanism of biomass hydrolysis
