1. There are different types of room rates that hotels use including rack rates, seasonal rates, corporate rates, and travel agent rates. 2. Rack rates are the standard rates for a particular room type before any discounts. Corporate rates are offered to companies and are generally 10-20% lower than rack rates. 3. Seasonal rates and advanced purchase rates vary depending on demand. Travel agents have confidential contracted rates with hotels that must not be revealed to guests.
