A Vibrant Hippie History
Jacqueline N February 10, 2012 AP/ US History Ms. Lombardi Period 5 Colorful Hippies To many it
may seem as the glorifying symbol that describes the era of the 1960s, but to others not so much. The
Hippies showed a different part of reality to us and to the world, a part that we did not know existed
but that caused great harm to us. Hippies were members of a reform movement that was absolutely
unnecessary to society. This is due to the reason that it caused the destruction of American principles
while causing no positive effect on the nation. The reform movement caused by the Hippies was
provoked by certain events that affected the US during the sixties, as well as topics that were of great
concern to them, this caused ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It became like a virus, not only was the whole nation being infected by these inappropriate behaviors
but some began to follow them and believed it was something right to do. What many did not know
was that the American principles were slowly vanishing as this new liberal form of behavior took over
very gradually across the nation. Over time Hippies took it to the extreme changing their appearance,
food and basic roles of women. For instance, during the Hippie movement Hippie men let their hair
grow very long while women went braless and sometimes even shirtless exposing their body to the
exterior world(Mortal Journey 1). Moreover despite high schools in the US had strict dress codes,
which did not allow girls to wear jeans or any sort of pants, they had to wear skirts even if the weather
was extremely cold but the Hippie girls began to wear pants to school to feel more free (Holland
80).Even public restroom signs show the image of a women wearing a skirt to symbolize a womans
bathroom, however all this was changing slowly because of the changes caused by the

To scatter about is the meaning for Diaspora . The people immigrant from their native place to another
place across the world spreads their culture as they go. In Bible Jews exiled from Israel by the
Babylonians so the Bible refers to Diaspora. It s a small example for Diaspora. The origin of Diaspora
started at 1st century itself. The movement of the population from one place to another is also refers to
the Diaspora. Africa, Asia, Europe per some of the countries having Diaspora. The first mentioned
Diaspora is found in Septuagint. According to the oxford English Dictionary, the first usage of the
word Diaspora is recorded in the English language in 1876. So after the Bible s translation in Greek
the Diaspora word used to refer to the Northern kingdom out between 740 722 be from Israel by the
Assyrians. The term Diaspora becomes more involved into English in the middle of 1950s. The study
of Diaspora became the sense of the world. William Safran published in an article in 1991, he
distinguish six rules to Diasporas from migrant communities. Rogers Brubaker (2005) says that,
Diaspora is widening now. Most early discussions of Diaspora rooted in the concept of homeland .
They were concerned with the paradigmatic case or a small number of care cases. The Jewish

David Sedaris Us And Them
Us and Them What if you moved into a seemingly normal house in a seemingly normal street, with
seemingly normal neighbors, except for your neighbors across the street: the Tomkeys. A deranged
family that communicates and does God knows what on their boat together. They are always reading
and doing unheard of things like playing board games as a family. But the scariest thing about this
family is they don t own a television. In David Sedaris s memoir Us and Them he writes about his
experience as a adolescent moving house to house, living a boring life, till motherly gossip leaks that
the Tomkey family does not own a T.V.. Young Sedaris finds himself growing more and more curious
about this family going to the extent of watching them from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

If he did decide to use logos he could have added facts or statistics about how often the average family
has a sit down meal together. However his tactic in writing this was not to use facts and blatantly point
out the error of modern society, it was to go about making the reader laugh. Allowing the reader to
discover the problem by his or her self and applying it to their own life. The idea that humans go about
finding ways to detract themselves like in the last paragraphing when Sedaris goes around facing his
problem by allowing his thoughts to wonder: This stagecoach, for instance, coming round the bend
with a cargo of gold. This shiny new Mustang convertible. This teenage girl, her hair a beautiful mane,
sipping Pepsi through a straw, one picture after another, on and on until the news, and whatever came
on after the news, (p. 17).By giving the reader time to connect his story to their own personal
experience he gets his message across but makes it enjoyable and something to be remembered. In
many cases the logical appeal is not. It would have taken away from the experience if he had
incorporated the logos

Episodic Memory Recall
Introduction: According to Levels of Processing framework, developed by Craik and Lockhart (1972),
the duration that a memory is held, is determined by the level at which the information is encoded.
Episodic memory recall is a cognitive process involved in consolidating the information presented.
The depth of processing occurring during the encoding of a memory, relates to, how well information
is recalled later. To clarify, information that we process semantically (i.e., by its meaning) comprises a
deeper level of processing than information we process structurally (i.e., appearance). Thus predicting,
the deeper an individual processes information, correlates with the duration a memory trace will last.
Consequently, memory is a by product ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, this recent study identifies the depth to which information is encoded also depends on the
time spent on cognitively thinking about the information. Semantic questions, as a result of deep
processing do require more cognitive work to be done than a structural or phonemic question.
However, the ambiguity of the definition of deep is dismantled through this study, due to the use of
requiring double the questions for structural and phonemic words. By doing so, we are evening out the
amount of cognitive capacity required to think about the word while still only using one level of
analysis. Therefore, the subject is now processing for about the same duration of time for all three
levels of

The Importance Of The Black Plague In The Medieval Era
One of the most well known times throughout the Medieval Era was not only the most well known,
but probably one of the most deadliest that kill one third to one half of the population all throughout
Europe and some of its surrounding counties, continents. More commonly all of Europe and counties
within the continent of Asia were affected by this plague. Many men, women, children, animals and
even livestock were killed did during this infectious disease era. This infectious disease is commonly
known to be called the Black Plague or also known as the Black Death. This deadly disease had to be
one of the most popular if not the number one event in the Medieval Era that forever changed that era
and for the eras to follow.
According to the textbook, in the 1300s Europe and Asia had a very close, strong connection that
fostered commerce, communication and connections of all kinds (Cole Symes, 348). To say the least,
Europe was becoming an extremely successful continent and the countries within Europe as well.

was then said that other individuals who were not physically affected by this disease did happen to die
so rapidly by unknown causes. Where these unknown causes actually unknown? Or was their some

research and facts given about this deadly plague that their should be some form of connection that

Leaders, Leadership, And Leadership
To Be a Leader Leadership is something that can come naturally to some, but challenging to others.
Some struggle to find their voice, while others are heard too much. In a busy world like today, it is
easy to spot leaders and their followers . But this is especially challenging for our younger generation
due to many things. But all young leaders and leaders in general, possess similar traits that make them
the leaders that they are. In my short essay, I will go over the commitments and traits of a leader,
challenges of being a young leader, and why do I consider myself to be a leader. Being a leader is
something that everyone puts their own spin on . Everyone has a different approach to being a leader
(some more effective than others). But all leaders have the same traits, whether you see them or not.
One of the traits that a leader can possess is the ability to communicate with others. This is a key trait,
because how will a leader plan or teach something to others if you can t communicate with another.
But a leader must consult with others before making a decision and a leader must be some what
persuasive. Another trait that a leader must possess, is the ability to put personal problems aside. By
doing this, a leader can make a better choice and be a role model to others. A leader must also have
commitment. No leader should ever leave his/her followers if something goes wrong. A leader must be
focused and determined to complete the project or problem at hand. A

KKK planted a minimum of 15 sticks of dynamite under the steps of the 16th Street Baptist church,
close to the basement. At 10:22 a.m. the 16th Street Baptist Church received a phone call from an

Synopsis of the Movie Young Guns
The scene that I will be discussing for this paper is called He s a spy from the movie Young Guns. In
this scene, Billy and his gang are confronted by Murphy s men. With the mise en scene, this helps the
viewer identify that the time period being portrayed here is the late 1870 s or the early 1880 s. The
mise en scene being used for this movie is important in telling the story from a different era as in
today s world, no one dresses this way anymore. Also to include from this scene is the lighting. I will
attempt to give an explicit description of the use of the lighting and the sun and how the
cinematographer designed for the use of it. Furthermore, I will also discuss the people that are directly
involved with the making of Young Guns, the director, the production designer and the art director and
their roles and responsibilities.
In this scene, the mise en scene used is mostly natural. Using the background of the desert, the brush
gives the sense that the time of the year is cold outside. The brush is only that of the branches with no
vegetation, the time of year could be anywhere from October to March. Also in the background is a
river, which sits in a calm motionless manner, indicating that the wind is at rest. Along with the natural
surroundings as the mise en scene, other indicators of the time era are the costumes that the actors are
wearing, along with rifles and pistols as well as the horses that represent the old west. The actor s
costumes are what we see and

Non-Allowing And Non Yielding Rein
Hands:
Allowing: This is the way we use the reins most of the time. Neither allowing so much that you lose
the contact nor have such a dead contact that the horse leans on it.
Non allowing/ Non yielding Rein: This is when you stop allowing by clenching your fingers on the
reins and tightening the muscles in your arms so that they cannot be moved forward. This blocks the
forward momentum and can achieve such movements as trot to walk or halt. A non yielding also used
when there is a contact problem. It is just applied for a second or split second. You would first apply
your seat and legs aids and then this rein to remind the horse to go forward into contact.

Comcast Case Study
Introduction Comcast is the largest cable television company in the world, by revenue. It is also the
largest internet provider, as well as the second largest home phone service, and third largest pay tv
company. This is a well established company, and is still growing and attempting to acquire other
different companies to solidify its empire. Comcast has a renowned product that is nearly undisputed.
The problem that has been brought to life a few years ago with Comcast, is the way they go about
their customer service. The problem was given light when a customer of the company called Comcast
and asked to relinquish their services. The employee taking this phone call agreed he could do this, but
then he prodded at the customer for eight minutes trying to figure out why he didn t want Comcast s
great services. The customer did not want to disclose this information and kept exclaiming he just
wanted to cancel his subscription. The employee argued with him for way too long, offering deals,
giving company comparisons to competitors, everything. The employee finally agreed to cancel the
service for the customer, and the called ended. Background Comcast, being the colossal organization
that it is, is ultimately funded by its customers. Therefore, if they begin to start losing customers, they
begin to start losing profits. The phone call I explained earlier, was it really the employee s fault?
Comcast, as well as many other organizations, often set goals for its employees that are unrealistic. In
the article, How Comcast Sets Its Customer Service Reps Up to Fail, Gretchen Gavett writes about an
interview she had with professor and senior associate dean at the Harvard Business School, Frances
Frei. Frei says, Auto dealers are the most notorious, that if you give us a 5 it s a pass, if you give us a
4, it is a fail (Gavett). In many industries, corporate and management level people stigmatize not being
perfect to a discriminating degree. Wells Fargo, another massive company, yet on the opposite side of
the spectrum in terms of industries. They are bank. In this case, management were basically forcing
tellers to press customers to open different kinds of accounts. Often, the customer did not want to. But,

Gender Roles Since High School Essay
Gender roles resurfaced as a pivotal factor in my life during my late adolescence. In our culture
different sports are considered to be male and female dominated respectively. Unfortunately little is
done to challenge or resist these societal norms and I experienced this first hand during my senior year
of high school. Volleyball, which is considered to be a sport primarily for girls and women, was not
offered to boys at my high school. Subsequently, I was forced to petition for approval towards the
creation of a male volleyball which ultimately went unsuccessful due to time constraints and
unwillingness to help from staff and administration. While this example pertained to male exclusion
countless female friends of mine struggled to participate in male dominated sports throughout high
school including wrestling and lacrosse. Part of what schools are supposed to be doing under Title IX,
and often are not doing, is regularly assessing girls interest, looking to see what sports girls are
playing and asking girls what they want to play that is currently not being offered (Wallace). In this
instance my districts athletic director directly impacted the sporting experiences for the entire student
body by failing to adhere to sufficient standards with respect to gender norms. High school sports
presented a unique culture with respect to sport. Trends throughout my high school strongly reinforced
dominant ideologies throughout society. Links between athletic success and

Greek Mythology Influence On Society
The heavy influence of Greek mythology persists in today s society. Common name brand products
echo the names of the gods. Popular movies and television shows portray the myths of ancient Greece,
some creating exact replications and others adding a modern twist to the timeless stories. Books are
written about the gods lives and adventures in ancient as well as present times. These portrayals of
gods and goddesses exist to entertain people today just as they did in Greece centuries ago. With such
a large influence surrounding life today, it is important to identify the established definition and
origins of Greek mythology, as well as how it has specifically influenced culture and literature.
When asking what mythology is you can get a bundle of stories and various answers, (Graf 1 2) states
in his book that a myth is a tale indicated by the etymology of the word: for the early Greeks, a
mythos was a word or story, synonymous with logos and epos; a mythology was a storyteller ... Show

He is one of the six original gods that Cronus ate and later freed. Hades never knows what is
happening in the world above, or in Olympus, except for fragmentary information which comes to him
when mortals strike their hands upon the earth and invoke him with oaths and curses (Graves 122).
Normally Hades is not considered one of the twelve Olympians on Mount Olympus because he never
visits but dwells in the underworld. In many stories about demigods or Greek mythology, the heroes
usually must travel to the underworld and come back to prove themselves. For example, this theme
recurs throughout the stories of The Odyssey, Hercules, and Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief.
These heroes must fight their way out or be cunning. Hades likes to collect his souls and not let
anyone leave. This can be interpreted in many of today s stories or shows. A lot of Greek culture was
able to inspire literature and our culture

February 1917 Dbq Analysis
In the twentieth century many Europeans liked the idea of having a totalitarian government. The
people in Europe found this to be somewhat comforting. They knew that things would be okay if
everything was controlled. Part of this was the idea all for one and one for all . For this to work out,
there were things that had to be contributed to the governments. There were economic, social, and
political conditions that helped to transition from the current government that they were using to the
totalitarian government. In March 1917, there was a Revolution in Russia that started to change things
in Europe. Tsar Nicholas had left power at this time, and Prince Lvov took over. Kerensky was the one

one of document 26 it states that in 1902, Lenin said that we said that there could not yet be social
democratic consciousness among the workers . By this thought, it might have started a fire in the
workers eyes. The workers were willing to fight back against the bosses in order to get what they
deserved. In this document, it says that Social Democracy has more political struggles that are
extremely intense than what the working class has to deal with. Social Democracy definitely had some
political struggles, but to say that they had more extreme struggles than the working class might be an
exaggeration. The working class had to deal with the bosses not caring about them, long hours and
getting paid little to nothing. It would be much easier for this class to have some kind of power if the
country they were in had a backwards economy. For example, in Paris the

The Roots of SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) Essay
Growing up in Alaska certainly taught me how to live peacefully with the bear minimum in life.
Hauling water from a creek in the back of my house, using an outhouse in fifty below zero weather,
and above all, living for almost nine months with an extreme lack of sunlight. When I lived in Alaska I
treasured the beautiful yet short summer months that seemed to come and go with such swiftness. The
difference in weather and amount of sunlight that I got to enjoy was just as drastic as my mood in the
wintertime compared to the summer. In the summer life seemed remarkably pleasurable, I was happier
with my appearance, and I worried much less about petty obstacles that I was confronted with. Unlike

There really have only been studies conducted on people with possible SAD since 1984 when a man
named Norman E. Rosenthal actually defined the psychological disorder (Lam). Since Rosenthal
defined SAD as a syndrome characterized by recurrent depressions that occur annually at the same
time each year characterized by hypersomnia, overeating, and carbohydrate craving (Newsome), there
have been several studies conducted and published on people with possible SAD. Many of the studies
that have been published for the general public focus mainly on the different forms of treatment for
SAD, such as light therapy and different forms of Phototherapy, rather than focusing on the cause.
Discovering the main causes of SAD would help to clearly identify who is actually in need of
treatment related to light therapy compared to anti depressants. In my situation I had symptoms that
were both characteristic of what identified SAD patients and patients suffering from mild forms of
depression. When symptoms of one disorder are so closely related to symptoms of
McClain 3 another type of disorder it is very important to identify a key differentiation, which I
believe could be found in a person s family history.

Christina Rossetti s Goblin Market
Christina Rossetti s poem Goblin Market provokes vivid imagery and illustrates the cost and
consequences of rash actions. The narrative poem tells of two women going about their daily lives,
one woman being steadfast in denying forbidden or dangerous choices while the other willingly risks
herself due to being unable to resist temptation. Lizzie and Laura are both innocent and virginal at the
beginning of the poem, but Laura s curiosity proves to be stronger than her sister s warning. Rossetti
creates an uncomfortable struggle between the consequences of pursuing lust and the need to explore
human desires. With language like sucked and heaved, Laura loses her youth and bloom as a result of

purse, kissed Laura, crossed the heath with clumps of furze at twilight, halted by the brook: and for the
first time in her life began to listen and look (609). She asks for fruit for her sister, but the goblins
instead invite Lizzie to join their feast. When she refuses they suddenly change. No longer are they
interesting, lively, and perhaps even cute amalgamations; suddenly they become wicked and abusive.
They will not sell Lizzie the fruit to take away with her; instead they attack, jostle, and abuse her.
Smashing their fruit into her face and leave bruises and torn clothing in their wake before running
away and hiding; a fairly obvious rape scenario. Lizzie then goes home happy despite the pain of the
ordeal and tells Laura to Come kiss me. Never mind my bruises, Hug me, kiss me, suck my juices
squeezed from goblin fruits for you (612). Rossetti uses the language of sexual violence when the
goblin men attack her with fruit. Laura is immediately worried that Lizzie had doomed herself in an
attempt to help her. She asked if Lizzie partook for the goblin fruit and so doomed herself. Lizzie

Similarities Between Dwayne Allen Dail And Christopher...
The two rape cases that were put against Dwayne Allen Dail and Christopher Abernathy were very

two younger girls. Later both Abernathy and Dail were both freed from federal prison after serving for

two cases are the convictions of both Abernathy and Dail. At the young age of 18, Dwayne Allen Dail

convicted of a rape crime against Barbara Best s daughter (Mumma). This shows that the charges were
already placed against him. Next, he was also convicted of burglary for breaking into the apartment in
which crime had happened at (Mumma). This shows that Dail was being suspected of breaking into
the apartment, and stealing from the apartment. Finally, Dail had been convicted with two life terms

his life in federal prison. The conviction trial between Dwayne Allen Dail and Christopher Abernathy

William Blake s The Tyger

Period: 2
English 4 The Tyger Analysis
It was said once that Who wants flowers when you re dead? Nobody. Many times our own
misconception can lead us to different perspectives and different point of views that cause a disunity
between our ways of thinking. However nothing can be further than the truth and staying true to
yourself. As for William Blake this is the exact concept efforted in his poem The Tyger as he
introduces the concept of life s creation and questioning the creator of it. Questioning the thesis of
why life is the way it is, William Blake uses Symbolism with the tyger which is still a mystery in the
poem however it is still symbolized as a creation by the creator.
In the beginning the first quatrain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore William is saying that how can the creator create something so viscous? He also goes on to
speak that on what wings dare he aspire? What the hand dare seize the fire? There is symbolism in
here when William says on what wings? Because by this he automatically stating that the creator of
this creature is something greater than us, something out of this realm. We as humanity have always
portrayed angels and heavenly creatures to having wings and halos above their heads. Therefore
William gives away an allegory using symbolism which is a characteristic by creative writers. When
William says what the hand dare seize the fire, it is another example of the same meaning by saying
the hand must be great if it is to hold this fierce creature.
In the third and fourth quatrain, William talks about the same meaning using different symbols and
different allegories. He states in the third quatrain; And what shoulder, and what art, could twist the
sinews of thine heart? And when this heart began to beat, what dread hand and what dread feet? By
the first couplet William is using symbolism describing what art could twist sinews of thy heart?

Michelangelo s The Last Judgement Analysis
[1] In Christian theology, it is said that during the Judgement Day , the end of mankind, Jesus Christ,
the Savior of Mankind will depart from Heaven to take his Redeemed saints with him to Heaven on
high. As the intercessor between an omnipotent God and His flawed creations, Christ is often depicted
as a kind, loving peacemaker who understands the struggles of mankind. When given life in paintings
and artwork, He is often draped in white robes, seemingly connoting purity and peace, with a
countenance intended to convince viewers to come to Him for forgiveness and eternal joy. However,
Michelangelo took a dramatically different approach when he was commissioned to draw the fresco he
painted to adorn the altar of the Sistine Chapel. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite all of the piece s efforts to force viewers attention to Christ, His own face is turned away from
the line of sight of the viewer, unlike many contemporary works which focus on His face to show Him
as compassionate and loving. In the absence of loving kindness, he becomes a concrete, unmoving
agent of judgement. His features resemble vengeful and often unsympathetic Greek deities, a parallel
to illustrate how Christ s mercy will be unattainable during the Last Judgement. Through emphasizing
the finite nature of the audience s opportunity to repent from their sins and seek Christ, The Last
Judgement is able to simulate the sense of regret and hopelessness that the characters in the piece
currently have but are unable to do anything about. Thus, by using remorse, Michelangelo implies that
when the Last Judgement does come, the audience too would regret wrongs in their life that they
cannot fix now that Christ s forgiveness has expired. By creating this dark setting, Michelangelo
underscores the idea that all hope will be lost during the Last Judgement, implying that the audience
needs to align their lives with Christ before then. [3] Through the choice of artistic elements
Michelangelo includes, and more importantly chooses not to include, he is able to achieve a sense of
urgency in the work. Typically to underscore the compassionate love Christ is associated with, He is

crass and corrupt politician . He wouldn t for anything to get what he wanted and the people that he
wanted in the seats around him. This view began all the way back in 1992 and it only picked up speed
from there. In 2008, he was impeached by the House of Representatives 114 1 and by the Senate 59 0,

Some of the key events that were caught by the Tribune happened between the years of 2004 2008.
Most of the people that were arrested were indicted by the courts and all of them either worked for
Blagojevich or directly worked with Blagojevich or his people. Some of the prominent people that
were indicted were: Stuart Levine (R) who was on the board of the Health Facilities Planning Board
and the Teachers Retirement System. Levine was a well known Republican but abruptly resigned from
both positions and began the first stages of the investigations of Blago. Levine was eventually charged
with extortion and contributions to Blago. Another key individual was Antoine Resko who was a top
fundraiser for Blagojevich campaign. He was also in a prominent professional relationship with
Blagojevich s wife Pamela as they worked together with her Real estate business. Resko was also
charged with extortion and when he was caught giving multi million dollar kickbacks. The individuals
that were charge either gave money directly to Blago, Blago s wife or actually wrote checks between
the amounts of 1,000 to 2,000 dollars directly to Blago s

Empirical Formula Of Magnesium And Oxygen
Empirical Formula Of Magnesium Oxide
The goal of the assignment was to determine the empirical formula based on the reaction of
Magnesium and oxygen.
Empirical Formula is a calculation to find the lowest whole number ratio of elements within a
compound. To find the empirical formula, first the student must assume that the total mass is 100g for
each element if the problem given is a percentage, then convert mass to moles, after that, divide each
mole by the lowest value of moles calculated, and finally round all the numbers to the nearest whole
number. For this experiment, Magnesium and oxygen were used as our elements. To follow the
experiment s instructions the student needs to use measurements like mass (body of matter without

My hypothesis of The reaction of Magnesium and oxygen should leave the empirical formula of MgO
was not supported because the data had a specific ratio of 6 61.
There could be a couple real errors in the experiment. One is that when you are supposed to clean the
metal piece, it could not clean it perfectly which will affect your data. It will affect your data because
it could add weight to the measurements and specific weight is key for empirical formula. Another real
error could be not having enough time to finish your experiment and that could affect your data
because you need time for the crucible to cool down in between measurements and weighing. To
improve the experiment, one should wear gloves so they do not dirty the mg with their fingers and
limit the exposure the mg has with fingers (not wearing gloves). To improve the time error, one should
calculate how much time is needed for the crucible to cool down by finding a period of time when you
can work for an extended period of time without having unrelated

Health Disparities Within Dekalb County
Introduction The purpose of this paper is to provide insight on health disparities seen within DeKalb
County. The residents of DeKalb County are diverse in race, ethnicity, and income. Since the county is
so diverse there are many health disparities seen amongst its residents. Health disparities occur within
a county when one group of a population has noticeably better or worse health than another group
within the same population. These groups of people can differ by income, education, sex, race,
location, and even sexual orientation. This Paper will discuss the health disparities that exist within
DeKalb County, and explain why these disparities exist from a historical, political and social aspect.
Furthermore, this paper will give background information on health outcomes from national, state, and
local epidemiological perspective in order to support the claims that disparities actually exist within
this county.
Background
The history of Georgia and its reflection on the state impacts the health and well being of its
communities today as it relates to cultures and institutions. The population of African Americans is
higher in Georgia than in the United States because of the transatlantic slave trade, which brought an
abundance of African Americans to the state by force. The history of slavery still impacts African
Americans today and causes many health disparities that can be seen around the world not only in
Georgia. The obvious and tragic impact of health

Analyzing Voltaire s Optimism In The Novel Candide
In the novel, Candide, Voltaire criticizes Lebiniz s optimism in the form of Candide s tutor, Dr.
Pangloss who claimed that everything is for the best in this best of all possible worlds . Using Dr.
Pangloss teaching, Voltaire demonstrates how optimism simplifies and ignores the real world of
human suffering and everyday experiences. In Chapter Three, Pangloss catches syphilis from the maid
whom he had an intercourse with. Instead of being in misery or trying to cure of the sexually
transmitted disease which could ultimately harm his life, he maintains on his philosophy and remains
positive. He justifies that syphilis is a wonderful ingredient in the best of world as if Columbus is an
island of America had not caught the disease, which

The Real Housewives Of Britain Essay
The Real Housewives of Britain
Coventry Patmore s The Angel in the House of 1854 depicts the quintessential role of The Angel
through a husband s standpoint, during Queen Victoria s reign in the 19th Century. The Angel was an
idealization of a role given to the middle and upper class housewife of Great Britain during the
Victorian era. The Angel served her family and household, who would grow submissive to her
husband while remaining innocent about the realities of the outside world. These women where
glorified to a level of perfection in her home and praised the values of maternal conduct, the reason
she was given the name Angel . Patmore designed this godly figure resulting from his estranged
fifteen year marriage with wife Emily August Andrews. The Angel in the House , written through
Patmore s point of view, allows the reader to take a stance in hopes of siding with Patmore and the
women s true role to benefit the man. Coventry Patmore is saying The Angel , an extreme version of
today s trophy wife, realistically is nothing without the male on her side. She has a duty to be perfect
that allows the husband to expand in his ventures without getting in his way. The Angel in the House
unwraps from a love story into a depth of the harsh reality of women in this time. It also allows for the
reader to identify with Patmore on this issue.
The Angel in the House is a phrase fabricated by Coventry Patmore, a Victorian poet of the 19th
century. The Angel name is perhaps

Evolution Of The Company And The Competitive Environment
Evolution of the Company and the Competitive Environment
From the time of its founding, the Cleveland Clinic never wanted to replace family physicians. Instead
they hoped to be utilized as secondary specialists that would be used as further consults that were
beyond the scope of the family practitioner. Although this style of practicing is still used in the system
today, the Cleveland Clinic has had to overcome many challenges and has implemented many changes
in order to maintain this system. Since it s founding the organization had operated with just a Board of
Trustees. With issues rising between the older and younger generation of leaders in the organization
and the lack of a succession plan left by the original founders, it was suggested that a Medical Survey
Committee be formed. In 1954, the Medical Survey Committee drafted a report stating the issues that
the Cleveland Clinic was facing and how establishing a Board of Governors could help solve some of
the issues (Clough, 2004). Some of these issues included: the lack of a democratic process, the legal
status, the research and educational institutions needed to be strengthen, the medical needs of the
community needed to be evaluated in order to ensure that the proper services were being offered, and
the patient care needed to be improved (Clough, 2004). With these issues and suggestions in mind the
Cleveland Clinic made a new organizational plan. First, the newly formed Board of Governors would

Essay On Zeus
The supreme ruler and king of gods, Zeus, is often mentioned as Jupiter and the sender of thunder,
lightning, rain, and wind (Britannica.com). Zeus was the first of the gods and a very imposing figure.
Often referred to as the father of gods and men, he is a sky god who controls lightning.
(Britannica.com) Although the god is labeled most powerful and the mightiest of all, he is not perfect.
Zeus is known for his promiscuous action. Often times he fell in love with one woman after the other
and attempted to disguise his infidelity from his wife. Zeus left no woman behind in his crazy love
life, the god married and had children with his sister, Hera and. Hera was not Zeus only siblings. He
also had two brothers, Poseidon and Hades and another sister named Hestia. His parents are known as
Cronus and Rhea. Zeus was not just handed the title god of the sky, instead him and his two brothers
drew lots. The sea was given to Poseidon, the underworld to Hades, and Zeus was named lord of the
sky, rain god, and cloud gatherer. The eagle is considered sacred to this god. Zeus also treasures the
oak tree. It is often told that the gods will was revealed by the rustling of the oak tree. (Hamilton 27)
According to Greek mythology, Cronus was intimidated by his children. So in attempt to keep reign,
he ate his children as they were born. However, Rhea saved Zeus. She hid the baby and gave Cronus a
rock wrapped in cloth instead. Cronus fell for the trick and ate the rock. Zeus grew up and became
powerful enough to battle his father to free his siblings. (Britannica.com) ... Show more content on

Homosexuality And The Effects Of The Stonewall Riots
The Stonewall Riots highlighted a key issue in the late 1960s American society. Homosexuality was
often seen as an illness and a sin to most people. For example, in April 1952 homosexuality was
deemed a sociopathic mental disorder by the American Psychiatric Association (CNN). This idea was
heightened in American society because it was being taught that being gay was one of the worst things
an American can be; showing videos such as Boys Beware . This all changed after the conflict at the
Stonewall Inn; located in New York on Christopher Street. The Stonewall Inn was the place where
gays and lesbians would flock to, to feel accepted for once in their lives as many of them ran away or
were disowned by their own families. Even though Stonewall was a place of freedom, it was also a
place for fear as the police would constantly raid the bar to make sure that alcohol was not being
served to gays, as the New York State Liquor Authority deemed it illegal to serve homosexuals.
Lasting only three days, the riots were able to help start the transformation of American society to
become what it is today. The lack of a formal compromise between the nation and the LGBT
community was an advantage for the effects of Stonewall to spread as the conflict was able to bring a
wave of acceptance and pushed many of history s gay role models to feel inspired to stand up.
Unlike most issues in history there was no compromise for the Stonewall Riots. After the American
Revolution, the Treaty of Paris was there to help regulate the tension between America and England,
but for Stonewall it was just met with messy streets that needed to be cleaned up, injuries on both
sides, and the realization that there was a need for change. Treaties or compromises often come with
rigid details that confine the parties involved to follow very strict rules. For example, The Treaty of
Paris divided the land in North America between Spain, Britain, and the colonist, kicking the French
off the continent entirely (Treaty of Paris). If the events of Stonewall were subject to the confinements
that a compromise brings to a situation its strong influence and reach that it had would have ultimately
been cut short. The Gay Liberation Front is a prime example

Out Of Grout Staining
When grout that is unsealed gets dirty, it can be tough to clean the grout due to the porous nature of
grout. The porous nature allows grout to quickly absorb liquids as well as dirt. Here are a few ways
you can try to get a stain out of grout on your unsealed stone floor. Sweep The Floor The first thing
you need to do is make sure that their is not any other dirt on the ground. It will get in the way of you
cleaning and removing the stain. Before you begin addressing the stain, you should either sweep or
vacuum your floor and remove any loose debris that is present. Even if you think your floor looks
clean, it is always a good idea to sweep or vacuum it because their could be dirt that you don t spot
present. Address The Stain The next thing you need to do is address the stain. First, you should take
baking soda and sprinkle it all over the area where the stain is. It should be applied thickly, so that in
the end all you see is a nice layer of baking soda instead of the stain. Once you have applied the
baking soda, take some vinegar and pour it on top of the baking soda. It may be easier to use a spray
bottle to apply the vinegar; that way you can evenly distribute the vinegar on top of the baking soda. ...

The Movie Toy Story Essay
After one screening of the reels, I thought, If this film isn t a hit, there is something seriously wrong
with the audience! This was stated by Steve Segal, an animator who worked vigorously on the film
Toy Story . Little did he know that not only was the film a huge hit, earning $67 million in its first
week of release, it would change the movie industry forever. On November 22nd, 1995, Toy Story
appeared in theaters. This marriage between Disney, a financial powerhouse, and Pixar, a creative up
and coming company, made sure to do something nobody had seen. Before the creation of this film,
there was somewhat of a formula, which included two dimensional images and somewhat simple
animation, tending to appeal to a young audience. Examining its influence on other films and cultural
phenomena, I shall argue that Lasseter s film revolutionized the ways in which animated movies are
produced and consumed, utilizing innovative technology, creating multidimensional character
development, and opening the animated genre to a wider audience while leading the way for the
creation of a new type of film. The age of technology and computer development, in general, began to
grow its influence on the film industry, but was catapulted by Toy Story . Pixar started out as a
division of Lucasfilms, eventually becoming a hardware company, led by Ed Catmull, which utilized
film shorts in order to show off the abilities of the hardware. The idea of Toy Story began in 1991 as a

Delta Sigma Linear Processing Circuits
3 Research Objectives
3.1 Research Objective 1: Delta Sigma Linear Processing Circuits
The goal of this research objective is to analyze the performance of Delta Sigma linear processing
circuits, including adders and coefficient multipliers. Examples of questions that we wish to address
include the following. What is the noise shaping performance of high order digital Delta Sigma
modulators for Delta Sigma adders? What is the frequency response of Delta Sigma coefficient
multipliers? What is the circuit power and area of Delta Sigma MAC circuits compared to
conventional circuits?
3.1.1 Background and Rationale
Multiply and accumulate (MAC) are fundamental linear operations in signal processing. However,
they also represent a bottleneck in mobile signal processing systems insofar that the circuit complexity
and power consumption of conventional digital adders and multipliers are relatively high whereas
mobile systems need to be miniaturized and power efficient. Although alternative MAC circuit
structures have been proposed, their performances do not yet meet the demand of applications that
require intensive computing operations with limited battery power [34]. A Delta Sigma based MAC,
therefore, constitutes a promising solution for low power DSP devices.
Delta Sigma based MAC circuits use Delta Sigma bit streams as their input and output. For instance,
the inputs of a Delta Sigma adder are digital bit streams generated by Delta Sigma Modulators. The
adder also produces

All Men Are Created Equal Dbq
All men are created equal , though this would be a fact of the Western World society today, it was
certainly not always that way. With the beginning of slavery in the 1600s, to becoming the main cause
of the Civil War and abolishment of it, here is slavery; from the Union s point of view.
The earliest form of slavery in North America can be traced back to Jamestown, Virginia in 1619.
There, they were called the Twenty and Odd and considered servants rather than slaves. Though little
is known about this infamous event, this trade continued of capturing Africans from Africa and
bringing them to the colonies of Britain. The usage of slaves increased and were often used as field
laborers on plantations, house workers, blacksmiths ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They had more supplies, better outfits and an efficient way to make weapons compared to the South.
By the end of the war, there were roughly 198,000 African Americans in the Civil War. This was a
controversy for not only some of the Union who refused to fight alongside an African American, but
also for the South who would see them in combat. There were disputes among both sides over the
Union taking slaves from the South and ultimately rescuing them. Though the North claimed it was
legal, considering slaves were property and both sides were allowed to raid and confiscate property
from each other. This was particular accomplishment on the Union s half, for it took the Confederate s
words and used them against them.
The Union won the war and slavery was officially abolished with the thirteenth amendment in 1865.
This great accomplishment brought America one step closer to equality, though there is still work to
be done today in the Western World. Though this resolution leaves the future bright for all places in

Both the brothers and Tabot experienced diseases from the same strand of Influenza which can be
noted from the difference in time between the three contracting the virus. The Chef and Doctor
however may have been infected by an evolved strand of the disease known as H1N1 or swine flu.
The evidence that they were infected by a controlled evolved strand can be noted when the pigs start
wheezing in the text. The Surgeon s Mate brought to my attention a coughing ague in our last
remaining pigs it is later found out that the chef was affected ...I immediately ordered them brought
back out of the men s tent, and everything opened to a cleansing wind, but too late. The cook Setterly
already exhibits similar respiratory ailings and soon complained of aches and pains. This information
gives light to the fact that the Chef may have been affected to a new strain of influenza through the
pigs. Assuming that the chef already had immunity to the Influenza strain, a new evolved strand could
have penetrated his biological defences and inevitably infected him. H1N1 and Influenza are not that
much different with patients experiencing identical symptoms in both cases of the virus, however
because of lack of immunity to the new strain the chef was affected and was later transferred to the
Doctor because of his lack of immunity toward N1H1, this fact however is not helped by nature

How many times have we seen this transpire in the past year? What can we do to change the
disparities that are taking place between police departments and African American boy/men?
According to Attorney Benjamin Crump (Truth and consequences, 2015), far too many officers say
that they felt threatened, but if not for viral video; the murder could have been swept under the rug. He
also says there is a blanket of distrust, disrespect, and indifference thrown across Black men in
America. He believes that this is the result of the many deaths at the hands of armed police officers
who claim to be afraid. According to former Police Chief Howard Safir, (Truth and consequences,
2015), these incidents do not happen as often as the media would have us believe. He believes that
police brutality and misconduct are inexcusable. He depends that police are to protect and serve but
can only do this effectively if officers and civilians work together. Filmmaker Errol Morris believes
that every time an unarmed black man is killed by a police officer, and the act goes unpunished,
racism is rewarded. According to Morris (Truth and consequences, 2015), cameras can offer the
evidence but they cannot tell us what to do with the evidence. Kareem Abdul Jabbar, the six time NBA
champion, and Times columnist, answers the question best of what can be done to change these
disparities. He says that, pushing harder for police reforms, more training, more

A Vibrant Hippie History Jacqueline N February 10, 2012 AP/ US History Ms. Lombardi Period 5 Colorful Hippies To many it may seem as the glorifying symbol that describes the era of the 1960s, but to others not so much. The Hippies showed a different part of reality to us and to the world, a part that we did not know existed but that caused great harm to us. Hippies were members of a reform movement that was absolutely unnecessary to society. This is due to the reason that it caused the destruction of American principles while causing no positive effect on the nation. Over time Hippies took it to the extreme changing their appearance, food and basic roles of women. For instance, during the Hippie movement Hippie men let their hair grow very long while women went braless and sometimes even shirtless exposing their body to the exterior world(Mortal Journey 1). Moreover despite high schools in the US had strict dress codes, which did not allow girls to wear jeans or any sort of pants, they had to wear skirts even if the weather was extremely cold but the Hippie girls began to wear pants to school to feel more free (Holland 80).Even public restroom signs show the image of a women wearing a skirt to symbolize a womans bathroom, however all this was changing slowly because of the changes caused by the ... • 5. Episodic Memory Recall Introduction: According to Levels of Processing framework, developed by Craik and Lockhart (1972), the duration that a memory is held, is determined by the level at which the information is encoded. Episodic memory recall is a cognitive process involved in consolidating the information presented. The depth of processing occurring during the encoding of a memory, relates to, how well information is recalled later. To clarify, information that we process semantically (i.e., by its meaning) comprises a deeper level of processing than information we process structurally (i.e., appearance). Thus predicting, the deeper an individual processes information, correlates with the duration a memory trace will last. Consequently, memory is a by product ... By doing so, we are evening out the amount of cognitive capacity required to think about the word while still only using one level of analysis. Therefore, the subject is now processing for about the same duration of time for all three levels of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Leaders, Leadership, And Leadership To Be a Leader Leadership is something that can come naturally to some, but challenging to others. Some struggle to find their voice, while others are heard too much. In a busy world like today, it is easy to spot leaders and their followers . But this is especially challenging for our younger generation due to many things. But all young leaders and leaders in general, possess similar traits that make them the leaders that they are. In my short essay, I will go over the commitments and traits of a leader, challenges of being a young leader, and why do I consider myself to be a leader. Being a leader is something that everyone puts their own spin on . Everyone has a different approach to being a leader (some more effective than others). But all leaders have the same traits, whether you see them or not. One of the traits that a leader can possess is the ability to communicate with others. This is a key trait, because how will a leader plan or teach something to others if you can t communicate with another. But a leader must consult with others before making a decision and a leader must be some what persuasive. Another trait that a leader must possess, is the ability to put personal problems aside. By doing this, a leader can make a better choice and be a role model to others. A leader must also have commitment. No leader should ever leave his/her followers if something goes wrong. A leader must be focused and determined to complete the project or problem at hand. A ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In this scene, Billy and his gang are confronted by Murphy s men. With the mise en scene, this helps the viewer identify that the time period being portrayed here is the late 1870 s or the early 1880 s. The mise en scene being used for this movie is important in telling the story from a different era as in today s world, no one dresses this way anymore. Also to include from this scene is the lighting. I will attempt to give an explicit description of the use of the lighting and the sun and how the cinematographer designed for the use of it. Furthermore, I will also discuss the people that are directly involved with the making of Young Guns, the director, the production designer and the art director and their roles and responsibilities. In this scene, the mise en scene used is mostly natural. Using the background of the desert, the brush gives the sense that the time of the year is cold outside. The brush is only that of the branches with no vegetation, the time of year could be anywhere from October to March. Also in the background is a river, which sits in a calm motionless manner, indicating that the wind is at rest. • 11. Comcast Case Study Introduction Comcast is the largest cable television company in the world, by revenue. It is also the largest internet provider, as well as the second largest home phone service, and third largest pay tv company. This is a well established company, and is still growing and attempting to acquire other different companies to solidify its empire. Comcast has a renowned product that is nearly undisputed. The problem that has been brought to life a few years ago with Comcast, is the way they go about their customer service. The problem was given light when a customer of the company called Comcast and asked to relinquish their services. The employee taking this phone call agreed he could do this, but then he prodded at the customer for eight minutes trying to figure out why he didn t want Comcast s great services. The customer did not want to disclose this information and kept exclaiming he just wanted to cancel his subscription. The employee argued with him for way too long, offering deals, giving company comparisons to competitors, everything. The employee finally agreed to cancel the service for the customer, and the called ended. Background Comcast, being the colossal organization that it is, is ultimately funded by its customers. Therefore, if they begin to start losing customers, they begin to start losing profits. The phone call I explained earlier, was it really the employee s fault? Comcast, as well as many other organizations, often set goals for its employees that are unrealistic. In the article, How Comcast Sets Its Customer Service Reps Up to Fail, Gretchen Gavett writes about an interview she had with professor and senior associate dean at the Harvard Business School, Frances Frei. Frei says, Auto dealers are the most notorious, that if you give us a 5 it s a pass, if you give us a 4, it is a fail (Gavett). • 12. Gender Roles Since High School Essay Gender roles resurfaced as a pivotal factor in my life during my late adolescence. In our culture different sports are considered to be male and female dominated respectively. Unfortunately little is done to challenge or resist these societal norms and I experienced this first hand during my senior year of high school. Volleyball, which is considered to be a sport primarily for girls and women, was not offered to boys at my high school. Subsequently, I was forced to petition for approval towards the creation of a male volleyball which ultimately went unsuccessful due to time constraints and unwillingness to help from staff and administration. While this example pertained to male exclusion countless female friends of mine struggled to participate in male dominated sports throughout high school including wrestling and lacrosse. Part of what schools are supposed to be doing under Title IX, and often are not doing, is regularly assessing girls interest, looking to see what sports girls are playing and asking girls what they want to play that is currently not being offered (Wallace). In this instance my districts athletic director directly impacted the sporting experiences for the entire student body by failing to adhere to sufficient standards with respect to gender norms. High school sports presented a unique culture with respect to sport. Trends throughout my high school strongly reinforced dominant ideologies throughout society. These portrayals of gods and goddesses exist to entertain people today just as they did in Greece centuries ago. With such a large influence surrounding life today, it is important to identify the established definition and origins of Greek mythology, as well as how it has specifically influenced culture and literature. When asking what mythology is you can get a bundle of stories and various answers, (Graf 1 2) states in his book that a myth is a tale indicated by the etymology of the word: for the early Greeks, a mythos was a word or story, synonymous with logos and epos; a mythology was a storyteller ... As the intercessor between an omnipotent God and His flawed creations, Christ is often depicted as a kind, loving peacemaker who understands the struggles of mankind. When given life in paintings and artwork, He is often draped in white robes, seemingly connoting purity and peace, with a countenance intended to convince viewers to come to Him for forgiveness and eternal joy. Despite all of the piece s efforts to force viewers attention to Christ, His own face is turned away from the line of sight of the viewer, unlike many contemporary works which focus on His face to show Him as compassionate and loving. In the absence of loving kindness, he becomes a concrete, unmoving agent of judgement. His features resemble vengeful and often unsympathetic Greek deities, a parallel to illustrate how Christ s mercy will be unattainable during the Last Judgement. Through emphasizing the finite nature of the audience s opportunity to repent from their sins and seek Christ, The Last Judgement is able to simulate the sense of regret and hopelessness that the characters in the piece currently have but are unable to do anything about. Thus, by using remorse, Michelangelo implies that when the Last Judgement does come, the audience too would regret wrongs in their life that they cannot fix now that Christ s forgiveness has expired. By creating this dark setting, Michelangelo underscores the idea that all hope will be lost during the Last Judgement, implying that the audience needs to align their lives with Christ before then. Empirical Formula is a calculation to find the lowest whole number ratio of elements within a compound. To find the empirical formula, first the student must assume that the total mass is 100g for each element if the problem given is a percentage, then convert mass to moles, after that, divide each mole by the lowest value of moles calculated, and finally round all the numbers to the nearest whole number. For this experiment, Magnesium and oxygen were used as our elements. To follow the experiment s instructions the student needs to use measurements like mass (body of matter without definite ... There could be a couple real errors in the experiment. One is that when you are supposed to clean the metal piece, it could not clean it perfectly which will affect your data. It will affect your data because it could add weight to the measurements and specific weight is key for empirical formula. Another real error could be not having enough time to finish your experiment and that could affect your data because you need time for the crucible to cool down in between measurements and weighing. To improve the experiment, one should wear gloves so they do not dirty the mg with their fingers and limit the exposure the mg has with fingers (not wearing gloves). To improve the time error, one should calculate how much time is needed for the crucible to cool down by finding a period of time when you can work for an extended period of time without having unrelated ... • 22. Health Disparities Within Dekalb County Introduction The purpose of this paper is to provide insight on health disparities seen within DeKalb County. The residents of DeKalb County are diverse in race, ethnicity, and income. Since the county is so diverse there are many health disparities seen amongst its residents. Health disparities occur within a county when one group of a population has noticeably better or worse health than another group within the same population. These groups of people can differ by income, education, sex, race, location, and even sexual orientation. This Paper will discuss the health disparities that exist within DeKalb County, and explain why these disparities exist from a historical, political and social aspect. Furthermore, this paper will give background information on health outcomes from national, state, and local epidemiological perspective in order to support the claims that disparities actually exist within this county. Background The history of Georgia and its reflection on the state impacts the health and well being of its communities today as it relates to cultures and institutions. The population of African Americans is higher in Georgia than in the United States because of the transatlantic slave trade, which brought an abundance of African Americans to the state by force. The history of slavery still impacts African Americans today and causes many health disparities that can be seen around the world not only in Georgia. The obvious and tragic impact of health ... • 24. The Real Housewives Of Britain Essay The Real Housewives of Britain Coventry Patmore s The Angel in the House of 1854 depicts the quintessential role of The Angel through a husband s standpoint, during Queen Victoria s reign in the 19th Century. The Angel was an idealization of a role given to the middle and upper class housewife of Great Britain during the Victorian era. The Angel served her family and household, who would grow submissive to her husband while remaining innocent about the realities of the outside world. These women where glorified to a level of perfection in her home and praised the values of maternal conduct, the reason she was given the name Angel . Patmore designed this godly figure resulting from his estranged fifteen year marriage with wife Emily August Andrews. The Angel in the House , written through Patmore s point of view, allows the reader to take a stance in hopes of siding with Patmore and the women s true role to benefit the man. Coventry Patmore is saying The Angel , an extreme version of today s trophy wife, realistically is nothing without the male on her side. She has a duty to be perfect that allows the husband to expand in his ventures without getting in his way. The Angel in the House unwraps from a love story into a depth of the harsh reality of women in this time. It also allows for the reader to identify with Patmore on this issue. Evolution Of The Company And The Competitive Environment Evolution of the Company and the Competitive Environment From the time of its founding, the Cleveland Clinic never wanted to replace family physicians. Instead they hoped to be utilized as secondary specialists that would be used as further consults that were beyond the scope of the family practitioner. Although this style of practicing is still used in the system today, the Cleveland Clinic has had to overcome many challenges and has implemented many changes in order to maintain this system. Since it s founding the organization had operated with just a Board of Trustees. With issues rising between the older and younger generation of leaders in the organization and the lack of a succession plan left by the original founders, it was suggested that a Medical Survey Committee be formed. In 1954, the Medical Survey Committee drafted a report stating the issues that the Cleveland Clinic was facing and how establishing a Board of Governors could help solve some of the issues (Clough, 2004). Some of these issues included: the lack of a democratic process, the legal status, the research and educational institutions needed to be strengthen, the medical needs of the community needed to be evaluated in order to ensure that the proper services were being offered, and the patient care needed to be improved (Clough, 2004). • 27. Homosexuality And The Effects Of The Stonewall Riots The Stonewall Riots highlighted a key issue in the late 1960s American society. Homosexuality was often seen as an illness and a sin to most people. For example, in April 1952 homosexuality was deemed a sociopathic mental disorder by the American Psychiatric Association (CNN). This idea was heightened in American society because it was being taught that being gay was one of the worst things an American can be; showing videos such as Boys Beware . This all changed after the conflict at the Stonewall Inn; located in New York on Christopher Street. The Stonewall Inn was the place where gays and lesbians would flock to, to feel accepted for once in their lives as many of them ran away or were disowned by their own families. Even though Stonewall was a place of freedom, it was also a place for fear as the police would constantly raid the bar to make sure that alcohol was not being served to gays, as the New York State Liquor Authority deemed it illegal to serve homosexuals. Lasting only three days, the riots were able to help start the transformation of American society to become what it is today. The lack of a formal compromise between the nation and the LGBT community was an advantage for the effects of Stonewall to spread as the conflict was able to bring a wave of acceptance and pushed many of history s gay role models to feel inspired to stand up. Unlike most issues in history there was no compromise for the Stonewall Riots. After the American Revolution, the Treaty of Paris was there to help regulate the tension between America and England, but for Stonewall it was just met with messy streets that needed to be cleaned up, injuries on both sides, and the realization that there was a need for change. Treaties or compromises often come with rigid details that confine the parties involved to follow very strict rules. For example, The Treaty of Paris divided the land in North America between Spain, Britain, and the colonist, kicking the French off the continent entirely (Treaty of Paris). If the events of Stonewall were subject to the confinements that a compromise brings to a situation its strong influence and reach that it had would have ultimately been cut short. The Gay Liberation Front is a prime example ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The porous nature allows grout to quickly absorb liquids as well as dirt. Here are a few ways you can try to get a stain out of grout on your unsealed stone floor. Sweep The Floor The first thing you need to do is make sure that their is not any other dirt on the ground. It will get in the way of you cleaning and removing the stain. Before you begin addressing the stain, you should either sweep or vacuum your floor and remove any loose debris that is present. Even if you think your floor looks clean, it is always a good idea to sweep or vacuum it because their could be dirt that you don t spot present. Address The Stain The next thing you need to do is address the stain. First, you should take baking soda and sprinkle it all over the area where the stain is. It should be applied thickly, so that in the end all you see is a nice layer of baking soda instead of the stain. Once you have applied the baking soda, take some vinegar and pour it on top of the baking soda. It may be easier to use a spray bottle to apply the vinegar; that way you can evenly distribute the vinegar on top of the baking soda. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 30. The Movie Toy Story Essay After one screening of the reels, I thought, If this film isn t a hit, there is something seriously wrong with the audience! This was stated by Steve Segal, an animator who worked vigorously on the film Toy Story . Little did he know that not only was the film a huge hit, earning $67 million in its first week of release, it would change the movie industry forever. On November 22nd, 1995, Toy Story appeared in theaters. This marriage between Disney, a financial powerhouse, and Pixar, a creative up and coming company, made sure to do something nobody had seen. Before the creation of this film, there was somewhat of a formula, which included two dimensional images and somewhat simple animation, tending to appeal to a young audience. Examining its influence on other films and cultural phenomena, I shall argue that Lasseter s film revolutionized the ways in which animated movies are produced and consumed, utilizing innovative technology, creating multidimensional character development, and opening the animated genre to a wider audience while leading the way for the creation of a new type of film. The age of technology and computer development, in general, began to grow its influence on the film industry, but was catapulted by Toy Story . Pixar started out as a division of Lucasfilms, eventually becoming a hardware company, led by Ed Catmull, which utilized film shorts in order to show off the abilities of the hardware. The idea of Toy Story began in 1991 as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Delta Sigma Linear Processing Circuits 3 Research Objectives 3.1 Research Objective 1: Delta Sigma Linear Processing Circuits The goal of this research objective is to analyze the performance of Delta Sigma linear processing circuits, including adders and coefficient multipliers. Examples of questions that we wish to address include the following. What is the noise shaping performance of high order digital Delta Sigma modulators for Delta Sigma adders? What is the frequency response of Delta Sigma coefficient multipliers? What is the circuit power and area of Delta Sigma MAC circuits compared to conventional circuits? 3.1.1 Background and Rationale Multiply and accumulate (MAC) are fundamental linear operations in signal processing. However, they also represent a bottleneck in mobile signal processing systems insofar that the circuit complexity and power consumption of conventional digital adders and multipliers are relatively high whereas mobile systems need to be miniaturized and power efficient. Although alternative MAC circuit structures have been proposed, their performances do not yet meet the demand of applications that require intensive computing operations with limited battery power [34]. A Delta Sigma based MAC, therefore, constitutes a promising solution for low power DSP devices. Delta Sigma based MAC circuits use Delta Sigma bit streams as their input and output. For instance, the inputs of a Delta Sigma adder are digital bit streams generated by Delta Sigma Modulators. The adder also produces ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
