Classroom Bill of RightsStudents have the right to  a safe environmentStudents have a right to be respected.Students have the right to learnStudents have the right to heardStudents have the right to be seen as equalsTeacher has the right to teach and help all students
PROCEDURESEnter and exit the classroom in an orderly fashionAlways check the board for “ice-breaker” assignments at the beginning of classAll icebreaker assignments are due at the end of each week.If you own a smartphone, you may use it in class, as a dictionary only.Use inside voices when working groupsStudents are required to keep a journal. They will be checked every two weeks. If you are not sure about something, always ask.Make sure  work areas are clean and that all materials are put back in their proper place.
CONSEQUENCESStudent receive a verbal warningName goes on the boardStudent will receive a check if behavior continuesStudent will  meet with teacher  for a “hallway chat”Student will move to a different desk in the areaParents will be called or receive a letter
CONSEQUENCES IIStudent has one day grace period to turn in late assignmentsWork  turned in after the grace period will  result in a point  taken off grade, each day it is lateIf you know that you are not going to be in class, the day before school, let the teacher know so that your assignment will be given to you
REWARDSStudents will receive gold tickets for class participationThe student with the most gold tickets at the end of the week will serve as a teacher assistant the next weekStudents who maintain good grades will be rewarded with a special treat at the end of the month.After test days, if students maintain good behavior, the teacher will reward a class with a special surprise.
