The Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is a three-day leadership conference for outstanding high school juniors held at Thousand Pines camp in Crestline, California. Approximately 320 students from District 5330 are selected through an application and interview process to develop their leadership skills through speakers, activities, discussions and networking. The conference is fully funded by the local Rotary clubs and provides students real-world skills to succeed in college and careers.

- 3. What is RYLAThe Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is a three-day leadership conference. It is a reward for outstanding youth to further develop their leadership skills. Sponsored by the 58 Rotary Clubs in District 5330 (San Bernardino & Riverside Counties). RYLA combines learning in a casual, relaxed atmosphere with social and fun time to provide a fast paced and memorable leadership experience.

- 7. What is Rotary? Rotary International is an organization of service clubs known as Rotary Clubs located all over the world. The stated purpose of the organization is to bring together business and professional leaders to provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world.

- 15. WHEN and WHERE is RYLA?RYLA 2011 will be held on April 8- 10th, at the Thousand Pines camp, in Crestline California.Friday, Saturday, Sunday
- 16. How many people will attend RYLA?Approximately 320 High School Juniors selected from all public and private high schools within District 5330 will attend, along with 60 Rotarian advisors and additional camp staff
- 19. What are the Criteria For Selection?Each school is asked to nominate outstanding juniors. Students will fill out and submit an application form. If your application is accepted you will be called in for an interview with a Rotarian advisor at VVHS in late January.(Student does not have to be a member of Interact club to apply).
- 21. How is the Conference Supervised?The conference is supervised by an all-volunteer Rotarian staff, headed by a Rotarian Chairman. The staff consists of 15 staff members, 40 Discussion Group leaders, 20 Alumni students and a camp nurse. Each Discussion group leader is assigned a group of 8 students for the entire weekend. Participants are housed in separate dormitories for boys and girls.
- 22. How much does it Cost?If you are selected, there is NO COST to you! It is FREE. The Rotary club of Moreno Valley will choose who it will send for Free.
