Crabs are crustaceans that have ten legs, with the first pair being claws. They range in size from small marbles to over 4 meters. The largest crab is the Japanese Spider Crab, which can have a legspan of over 4 meters. Red Crabs on Christmas Island travel annually in huge groups of over 50 million crabs to the coast to lay eggs before returning to their forest homes. Hermit Crabs do not grow their own shells and instead live in unoccupied snail shells.
