Focusing on Mobile

• In 2012 the number of smart-phones in Korea will surpass the number of
 PCs(desktops + laptops)

• In 2014 the number of mobile internet users will surpass the number of PC internet
 users

• In March 2011 there were 10 million smart-phone subscribers
   doubled to 20 million smart-phone subscribers by December 2011 (in 9 months)



  Government services need to match the current trends

“Smart-phones” – as of mid 2011
• 173 mobile websites provided through mobile web however  most of the content is
limited to providing information, and level of mobile web support is low
• More than 300 public mobile applications have been developed and are being
provided

Social Media
• 40 Central government agencies are using private sector blogs as a direct channel for
communication with the citizens
• SNS: More than 100 central and regional government organizations use Twitter,
Facebook, etc. to communicate directly with the citizens

Strategic Plan (1/2)

• Construction of wireless infrastructure
  - Establish a high-speed (100 Mbps+) wireless network infrastructure by 2015 that will
allow citizens to enjoy the mobile services anywhere in Korea


• Transform to smarter mobile services
  - Transform E-Gov to Smartphone-based m-Gov Services to be integrated and
simplified, while being connected with other related services
  - Provide a Government mobile service gateway that can suggest services that
matches the citizen’s needs
