- 5. Overview WireCo is the world leader in manufacturing wire rope. The company was founded in 1931 and has since grown and grown to be a globally specialist provider. They have manufacturing facilities throughout northern and southern America, Europe and Asia, employing over 4,000 employees. As you can easily imagine this company produces a vast amount of data. The WireCo team approached ExistBI regarding a Data Warehouse, Reporting and Salesforce Project. In our initial communications, WireCo explained that they had a small in-house Salesforce team, but were not sure they were currently getting an adequate return on investment. They wanted to engage with certified consultants who could understand how they could move reports from Salesforce into a new Data Warehouse. Once ExistBI started analyzing the systems, conducted interviews with the stakeholders and the internal Salesforce team, it became clear there were large gaps in knowledge, strategy and implementation efforts to make the current Data Warehouse and Salesforce CRM Initiative a success. 5

Action Through thorough communication with our Data Warehouse and Salesforce consulting teams we concluded that they would benefit from assistance from one of our Data Warehouse Consultants, Certified Salesforce Administrators and two of our Certified Salesforce Developers. To begin with, a project manager was assigned to the customer to understand the current landscape and ’as is’ situation. We set-up meetings with the Salesforce team and the stakeholders. It was clear from the outset that they had too many reports in Salesforce (better served in a EDW) and much of the development did not follow Salesforce best practice and this was starting to cause major performance issues. Our Data Warehouse consultant worked separately on the architecture and design for the new DWH and analytics insights capabilities using Microsoft Power BI. The strategy was to move most reporting from Salesforce into a Data Warehouse complimented with a powerful business intelligence reporting and visualization tool. ExistBI took over the Salesforce Administration and Development support roles within the Company on an as-needed basis. Our Administrator worked seamlessly with the business stakeholders and CIO. Our developer picked up any coding projects out of scope for the Admin. Six month later we took on all internal Salesforce customer service requirements when the last member of the internal team moved positions. 6
- 7. Results By providing the required strategy and implementation resources to make the current Data Warehouse and Salesforce CRM Initiative a success. ExistBI helped reduce the annual Salesforce cost by $300,000 (50%) by eliminating the users who only used SFDC for reporting. We are a year on from the beginning of this partnership and WireCo continues to see great benefits to customer services and increase in sales. Our certified Salesforce Admin and Salesforce Developers continue to offer virtual support when they are required. 7
