This document summarizes the University of Glamorgan's Software Asset Management project which implemented a Keyserver product to track software usage on campus. The project aimed to reduce software costs, ensure legal compliance, and provide data to make informed purchasing decisions. Initial results found unexpected peaks in Microsoft Office usage, inconsistencies in manual setup, and opportunities to negotiate licensing terms based on actual usage patterns. Going forward, the university plans to expand tracking to staff machines, negotiate component-level concurrent licensing, and integrate the data with other IT projects.
