ADAMS COUNTY
HOMELESS SHELTER
A Component of South Central Community Action
Programs, Inc.
Did You Know?
 It costs more than $35,000 for a family of three to
survive (pay for BASIC living expenses) in Adams
    County?
Did You Know?
 That the cost of housing has almost doubled in our
county in the last 10 years?
                             Or
 That the majority of clients that the homeless shelter
    are families with children?
Adams County Homeless Shelter
 The Shelter does not receive money from the state.
 Allof their clothes, food, and other supplies come from
      donations only!
My Visit
 Entering the shelter it was not what I expected……
    It felt like home.
I was greeted with welcoming arms
 People did not judge your background

 Everything I needed was there for me
My Visit
 After I entered the lobby there was a wonderful
living room set up where people could come play
cards, video games, and have a chat session.
My Visit
 Though the rooms were small there was plenty of
    space to sleep.
My Visit
 Everyone had to share bathrooms but that was ok
because there were plenty of them
Hungry? No, problem!
 All occupants have to provide
    themselves with breakfast & lunch.

 A giant dinner is prepared for
everyone in attendance by those who
    live there.
My Visit
 Currently 18 small children live at the homeless
    shelter.
 Though it may be sad, there is a place for them to be
      themselves.
 This is by far my favorite place in the entire shelter!
Make a difference in your
community!
I enjoyed my visit & work with SCCAP to make
an awareness about Poverty & Homelessness.
