Scene by scene example outline

A/S Media Studies MS2 Coursework Project Music Video / Charity Campaign 1 Step Outline Time (seconds) Lyric in… Lyric out… Description of scene or change in action 0-16 None Music doesn’t start until 12 Intro A man stands by himself in an empty bathroom 18-28 Intro “Can’t get the stink off…” The band are playing their instruments in a sparsely decorated room 29-1.06 “It’s been hanging round for days…” “…you and no- one else…” Various shots of the band performing are intercut with shots of the man walking through an almost city, until inexplicably the man stops – stares and eventually lays down on the pavement. 1.07-2.01 “…you do it to yourself… “you do it to yourself…” A pedestrian trips over the prone man and tries to help him – the man refuses help which agitates the pedestrian who continues to question why he is just laying there. This scene continues to be intercut with scenes of the band. 2.01-2.27 Instrumental Instrumental Other people are curious as to why the man is laying down but he still refuses to tell them - the conversation takes place via captions on screen. Meanwhile the band look out of a window as if they can see what is going on from above. 2.28-3.25 Instrumental Instrumental A police officer on a motorbike arrives and joins in with the crowd who won’t leave the man alone – eventually he caves and decides to tell them – but first he warns them of the scale of what he’s about to tell them. 3.26-3.42 Instrumental Instrumental As the man begins to explain the captions disappear. We see the crowd listen and also at this point the band have stopped playing their instruments and are all standing at the window as if listening to the man’s revelations. 3.43-4.02 Instrumental Outro The camera lifts from showing just the man on the ground to reveal everyone laying on the pavement motionless.
