• Hint: The questions have been arranged in a certain way to form the
pattern

Q2.* Because of anti-Semitism, the unit known as “X” almost became "Helmholtz," for Hermann von
Helmholtz, who X studied under. A member of the Nazi party proposed the change, intended to preserve
the current abbreviation but remove any Jewish association, to the Physical Society of Berlin.
The scientific community did not go along with it. Even though X was a Lutheran, his father was Jewish
and as a consequence, after his death, he was derided by the Nazi party and his wife and daughters were
forced to flee Germany.
Give me X.

Q4. During his time as an American envoy to France, _______ ______, publisher of the old English
proverb, "Early to bed, and early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise", anonymously
published a letter suggesting that Parisians economize on candles by rising earlier to use morning sunlight.
This 1784 satire proposed taxing shutters, rationing candles, and waking the public by ringing church bells
and firing cannons at sunrise. Despite common misconception, _______ did not actually propose Daylight
Saving Time (DST); 18th-century Europe did not even keep precise schedules. However, this soon changed
as rail and communication networks came to require a standardization of time unknown in _______’s Day.

Q5*. Google, famous for its many high-tech endeavours, has multiple projects in the works to get high-
speed Internet connectivity to the masses.
Their Google Fibre project aims to provide Gigabit service — far faster than the connection speeds we're
used to — using fibre optics, and it has pilots of that program going in several areas in the US.
But the company has another project aimed at getting basic high-speed Internet to areas that don't have
it. And the project uses something we think of as low-tech — _________!
The project is appropriately named Project Loon, partially because it involves _______ and partially
because it sounds looney.

Q8.* Palmer Luckey is a weird guy. The Telegraph sat down with Mr Luckey in his office—or, to be more
accurate, “his own suite on the top floor of Facebook’s headquarters.” Here are some fun facts about Mr
Palmer:
• He never wears shoes.
• He loves Elon Musk.
• He’s more of a Steve Wozniak than a Steve Jobs.
• When asked if he invented a parallel world to escape from something wrong in his own world, Mr
Luckey said:
If I grew up in “da hood” it would make my story so much more interesting—if I had something to escape
from. I had a pretty good life. My parents weren’t rich; they weren’t poor. I wasn’t trying to escape from
anything. It was always just the pursuit of something cooler. Even if you have a great suburban lifestyle,
you’re doing sports, have friends—some people want more than that. That’s why they watch Transformers
or read The Iliad. I was one of them, but I could make my life cooler.
What did he invent?

Q9. People generally do not know the difference between X & Y.
• Both X & Y lay eggs in water.
• X tends to lay eggs in clusters while Y tends to lay eggs in long chains.
• Y is oval in shape and about half as long as it is broad. X is more slightly built with the body somewhat
pointy at the ends.
• Y possess no teeth while X possess small simple teeth in the upper jaw.
Give me X & Y (in that order).

Q11. X(literally "my country" in Korean) is the web browser that comes bundled with North Korea’s official
Linux-based operating system known as Red Star OS.
Upon start-up, the browser tries to load a page located at IP address 10.76.1.11, which is a reserved IP
address for private use. This indicated that North Korea’s “Internet” is actually more of in intranet.
[Robert] suspects that the entire country may be running in private address space, similar to how your
home or business likely runs.

Q12. X(June 28, 1906 – February 20, 1972) was a German-born American theoretical physicist, and Nobel
laureate in Physics for proposing the nuclear shell model of the atomic nucleus. She was the second
female Nobel laureate in physics, after Marie Curie.
She was also involved in the famous Manhattan Project.

Q14. There was much speculation about why X was named so.
The company’s CEO offered up some of the back story on this saying that the name derived from a lady
that he once used to work with and that he had, at one time, thought about naming his daughter X.
X actually means “beautiful woman who leads you to victory” in the Norwegian language.
He also stated that the website domain was also available and that consumers want a name that’s easy to
say and spell, two items that make sense, but don’t exactly fit in with the rest of the romanticism behind
the naming.

Q15*. Back in January 2007 The ________ decided to enter the bidding for the micro-nation of Sealand
that was put up for sale. Sealand is a former British Navy platform, situated 7 miles off the coast of
southern England, that was established in 1967 by the English major Paddy Roy Bates. He decided to take
ownership of the platform and proclaim it as a sovereign state without any other foreign governmental
influence. The island has its own gold and silver Sealand dollars and it also issues passports.
When ______ wanted to buy off the island, their offer got rejected. The government of Sealand stated
that they “did not want to have anything to do with an organization that was involved with theft of
property rights”.
The _________ organization attempted to bypass any copyright laws that existed by buying a secluded
island hoping to found their own country with no copyright laws.

Q17. X gas, also known as bertholite, was first used as a weapon in World War I by Germany on April 22,
1915 in the Second Battle of Ypres.
As described by the soldiers it had a distinctive smell of a mixture between pepper and pineapple. It also
tasted metallic and stung the back of the throat and chest. The damage done by X gas can be prevented
by the activated charcoal commonly found in gas masks, or other filtration methods, which makes the
overall chance of death much lower than those of other chemical weapons.
It was pioneered by a German scientist later to be a Nobel laureate, Fritz Haber of the Kaiser Wilhelm
Institute in Berlin, in collaboration with the German chemical conglomerate IG Farben, who developed
methods for discharging the gas against an entrenched enemy. It is alleged that Haber's role drove his
wife, Clara Immerwahr, to suicide.

Q19. This high-strength material was first commercially used in the early 1970s as a replacement for steel
in racing tires. Typically it is spun into ropes or fabric sheets that can be used as such or as an ingredient in
composite material components.
Poly-paraphenylene terephthalamide – branded X – was invented by Polish-American chemist Stephanie
Kwolek while working for DuPont, in anticipation of a gasoline shortage.
Give me X.

Q20. X & Y are mostly confused with one another.
X is a unit of weight for precious stones. The international, or metric, X was standardized in 1913 and
accepted by the United States and many other countries. One X is equal to 200 milligrams.
On the other hand, Y is a not a measure of weight. Rather, its an ancient unit for measuring purity or
fineness of a certain element.
