He calls out to her.

How ya doing, gorgeous?
LAUREN (VOICEOVER)
It all builds up. Over days and weeks and months and years. You keep
it desperately bottled inside but every passing comment digs at you
a little bit more-
The MAN approaches LAUREN as she walks away faster.
MAN 3
Oi, you tramp, I was talking to you! Don’t you dare walk away from
me!
LAUREN
-And every too-slow glance puts another crack in your mask until you
can’t take it anymore and you’ve got this adrenaline rising inside
you and you just-
MAN 3
Oi!
The MAN grabs LAUREN’s arm and she turns to face him, angrily.
LAUREN
Snap.

- 1. 1 Script – Draft 2 FADE IN: OPENING TITLES APPEAR ONSCREEN DURING FIRST SCENE EXT. RURAL PATH – MORNING A frosty morning in winter, a jogger prepares to go for a run. LAUREN, 18 year old student, stretches and puts her headphones in. LAUREN (VOICEOVER) I don’t know why I’m doing this. I just need to get it out. A MAN walking a dog passes LAUREN jogging and whistles. CUT TO: EXT. BUSIER STREET – DAY LAUREN, dressed in casual clothes, walking along a pavement. Another MAN approaches from behind her, meaning to overtake. LAUREN (VOICEOVER) Sometimes, I think, it’s the little things that get to you the most. It’s tying your hair up at the start of the day so it’s harder to grab. It’s the shape of keys imprinted on your shaking hands as you walk home in the dark, or your fake laugh during the fake call on the phone that’s dead. Other times, it’s the bigger things. It’s the ‘compliments’ that make your skin crawl, MAN 2 Excuse me, sweetheart. LAUREN (VOICEOVER) -Or the lingering hands as they brush past. The grins and the grabs in crowded places where there’s no consequences, where ‘boys will be boys’ and you’re scared to ‘make a fuss’. MALE STUDENTS (Whispering and laughing) LAUREN (VOICEOVER) The whispers that get inside your head and tell you you’re shameful and dirty, that you deserve this. That you’re asking for it. It’s the apologetic half-smiles that say: CUT TO: INT. SCHOOL/CLASSROOM An older woman, LAUREN’s TEACHER. TEACHER (Apologetically) Sorry, Lauren. There’s just not a lot we can do. 2
