‘The Child Keeper’
Written By Amy Bullmore
ACTORS: Amy Bullmore (Alice), Emma Turner (Jamie).
SCENE 1:
Google map view on earth, zooms in to the Location of a House. Fade
to moving shots on the area by the house and the forest, with
credits showing at each shot. Dark/eerie music plays in the
background, then a slow build up towards the end of the scene.
SCENE 2:
A character is walking through the forest alone, scared and
shivering because of the cold. They walk slowly and keep looking
around right and left, but only occasionally behind her.
ALICE: (Calls LOUDLY) JAMIE?
(Looks behind her and sighs) Jamie?!
[Stops walking and looks behind her briefly and doesn’t see anything
so she turns back and carries on walking slowly]
ALICE: JAMIEE??? (QUIETER, muttering under breath) Where are you??
[Focus on other aspects of the surroundings, such as the forest and
individual trees with dolls strapped to them, as well as the house
in the distance]
[ALICE hears noise behind her and picks up pace without looking
back]
ALICE: Jamie! Stop messing around, it isn’t funny! (breathing
becomes heavier)
[Rubs arms and looks down, slowing pace in defeat]
[Rustling noise behind ALICE, louder than last time]
ALICE: (Walking faster) JAMI-
[Bumps into a figure who pulls them close to a tree]
ALICE: WHA-
???: SHH! (Puts finger on lips)
(Character of Jamie is revealed)
ALICE: (Whispering LOUDLY) Jamie?! What are yo-
JAMIE: (finger on lips) SHH! (lifts finger) I didn’t mean to scare
you like that, sorry. (Puts arm on shoulder)
ALICE: Why didn’t you tell me you were here?? Didn’t you hear me
calling???
JAMIE: (hesitates) I couldn’t give away where I was... (Looks down)
ALICE: What? What are you talking about? What’s going o-
JAMIE: (puts finger on ALICE’S lips) SHH!
ALICE: I- Uh… (sighs) Ok… Just answer this, who were you hiding
from?
[JAMIE looks over ALICE’S shoulder into the distance, shocked.]
JAMIE: Alice, I don’t mean to alarm you, but… (points to the area
behind her) Them.
[ALICE slowly turns around and sees a dark figure in the distance]
JAMIE: (whispering in ear) It was following you the whole time,
that’s why I didn’t answer you.
ALICE: (stutters) I-uh, I’m-
JAMIE: It’s alright, I understand. (ALICE glances back at JAMIE and
they smile)
[ALICE looks back to where the figure was, but they’re gone]
ALICE: Jamie (tapping her shoulder whilst looking at where the
figure was) Jamieee…
JAMIE: Alice… (slightly louder) Alice! We need to go, before it
finds us!
ALICE: (hesitates) Ok…
[JAMIE grabs ALICE’S wrist and they walk away from the tree and turn
to carry on walking]
[They both stop shortly when they see figure in the distance, and
turn to each other]
ALICE: How...?
[JAMIE shakes her head in defeat]
[BOTH turn to face the figure, which slowly starts walking towards
them]
END SCENE
SCENE 3:
