Re: Sean Letzer
To whom it may concern,
Sean worked at Magzor over the summer of 2015 as a mechatronics engineering intern; he was
entering the last year of his degree and wanted some practical experience. Sean was set a quite
complex project: to migrate the Magzor IDE from a small board computer to the Intel Edison platform.
The internship project was for a self-starter who would take the remit of what needed to be done and
“walk away and get on with it” with minimal supervision.
Sean quickly and readily go to work essentially had ported our libraries over within a couple of
weeks. His implementation, as well as being quick, was very thorough and stable. We therefore asked
him to continue onto the Arduino platform. This was a much more complex task as it required moving
from architecture with a relatively large amount of memory to an MCU. Sean succeeded in this task too,
with time to spare. Hence, we gave him a further task to implement the foundations of our EZ2C
application. This application takes an MDP build and produces the source code for the user such that
they can start programming their mechatronics system without care for libraries or mapping. Yet again
Sean excelled and produced a beta version of the software
At the time of writing this reference Sean is back at University finishing his degree but we have him
retained to work for us whenever he has bandwidth. This is a testament to the exceptional capability of
this individual. We have never before offered such a deal to an intern, but in the case of Sean we found
him to be so exceptional and useful that we found it necessary to keep him on at the company.
Technically, Sean managed to deliver an incredible amount of work in a 3 month period. Sean’s
approach was systematic, ensuring that there was logic behind software architecture design decisions
he made. This approach allowed Sean to produce code that is now used by other team members and
interns at Magzor and may ultimately lead to product.
In addition to his outstanding technical skills, Sean has proven to be an excellent team player. He has
been an asset in aiding the general development of product that we manufacture. Sean has a very keen
eye on the end product, it’s utility and develops to that goal.
As an engineer and manager of many employees over the years, it is with total confidence that I can
recommend Sean as an exceptional engineer and individual. Indeed I would put Sean into the top tier of
engineers and scientist that one would have the pleasure to meet and work with.
