Abstract This paper explores Robert Agnew s General Strain Theory by helping to explain what it is as
well as research that has been conducted to support it. A majority of the articles used in this paper help
try and explain or define what GST is as well as attempt to define its components. This paper will then
help better understand some of the research that has been done regarding GST. These studies will help
explain why certain types of strain lead to criminal acts as well as the effect of negative emotions
leading to crime. Another aspect introduces the matter of how people cope with certain strains by
committing crime and reasons behind it. The importance of strains leading to juvenile delinquency is
briefly explained. Next, some limitations on the theory are provided. These will include

The use of tube feeding is done when a patient is no longer or unable to feed themselves orally. When
tube feeding is required for just a short period of time an enteral tube feeding can be placed nasally.
Incidences that require NG tube feeding would be prolonged bleeding, facial trauma, upper GI
blockage and cancer. The NG tube catheter tip normally resides inside the stomach or in the small
intestine past the pylorus. The number one complication involved with the use of NG tubal feeding is
incorrect placement. A nurse can inadvertently place an NG catheter into the lungs, most notably when
a patient has little to no gag reflex. As a result testing for gastric contents, pH or performing a chest x
ray are required once an NG tube has been inserted. Another major complication when using NG tubal
feeding is aspiration within the lungs due to gastric contents enter the trachea and into the bronchial
spaces of the lungs. Keeping the head of the bed elevated greater than 30 degrees will reduce
aspiration at minimum . The use of a gastrostomy or jejunostomy tube can used for enteral feedings
when an NG tube cannot be tolerated of interferes with therapy. The gastrostomy tube, PEG, tip is
placed in the stomach and exits the body through the left upper quadrant of the abdomen where a

ways, one significant and the other less so. First, and less significantly, Cooper taught Skinner

When reading Banana by Dan Koeppel I felt that by reading this book I d learn more about the banana
and why we love it so much. When I started reading, I began to understand that there are more than
one species of banana and that this little fruit migrated just like all humans did across the world.
Koeppel states that the apple from the garden of Eden wasn t really an apple at but a banana, he goes
into reasons why it absolutely would be a banana and not an apple. He also travels to different

Both formative and summative assessments were given for students through the group activity of

The questions that I asked myself while watching this lesson was where could I insert questions while
reading to students and where would I change instruction for a better assessment of student abilities.
While watching the teacher read to students there was little questions asked during reading, but at the
end, they make a prediction quickly and then check the prediction with the end of the book. I would
have asked more prediction questions throughout the book and also given students more time to think
about the story and how it differs from a version they have heard before.
For the beginning letter assessment sheet at the end, I would have included in the instruction to use
lower case letters for all things that are not proper nouns, and then do a quick review of what words
should get an upper case letter. I also would have taken time with students to go over any possible
confusion they might have with pictures or letters, by working briefly with them to check their work.
Often times, students get the chance to go back and recheck their work, and this is a good skill to
foster in

Agrigreen, Inc. has done a lot of moving employees from one position to another. Either someone
chose to retire or step down, or they were promoted or transferred. Howard is a guy who obviously
does not see himself the way others may see him. They simply have different perceptions. Howards
seems like a man who tried his very best at one point. His best performance may not be equal to
another persons best performance. He was often teased due to the perception of having no work ethic.

Lineberry had some education. The education that he had received was not enough to demonstrate
efficient and effective work at Agrigreen. He did well enough with his first supervisor to accomplish
the mission. Howard seems to be a man who needed direction and guidance. Without the proper
guidance, he was close to lost. As I compared his actions with his first supervisor to his actions with
his second supervisor I realized that there seemed to be a lack of performance satisfaction. This
dissatisfaction occurred as Howard was expected to do the work on his own. He had little to no
guidance in getting the tasks done. Although he perceived that his first boss was a tough one, Howard
got along well with him. He appreciated the guidance and direction that was given. This was a form of
daily training. He made an honest attempt to do well on his own, but maybe his way of doing things
were just different. Howard didn t fit into this organizational culture. I will not say that Howard did
not have any values but I will venture to say that he did not share the same values and beliefs that
many of the other workers shared. The leaders and other employees were paying attention to work

Pan, the character Tinker Bell is dynamic as illustrated by her words, actions, and motivations. To
start, Tinker Bell is shown to be dynamic depicted through her unkind words. An example of this from
the book is when Tink treats Wendy offensively by calling her ugly: He had to translate. She is not
very polite. She says you are a great ugly girl, and that she is my fairy (Barrie 27). Tinker Bell is
shown to be uncivil and boorish towards Wendy by calling her ugly. As a perfect antagonist, she
creates tension and suspense in the story with her threats towards Wendy. Without remorse, Tink doesn
t even apologize to Wendy. With this type of behavior, she shows her nasty side, her lack of concern
for her feelings, and how she may have hurt them. However, while Tinker Bell expressed in words,
her more cruel side, being churlish towards Wendy,that doesn t represent her whole self. Next, Tinker
Bell illustrates her dynamic self through her actions towards other characters, like Peter. For instance,
when Tink plays the role of protagonist towards Peter by saving his life: No time for words now; time
for deeds;and with one of her lightning movements Tink got between his lips and the draught, and
drained it to the dregs (121). Tink flew in front of Peter s lips before he could drink the poison

In Painful Choices, David Welch is entirely focused on developing a theory of when and why foreign
policy changes. Welch is also interested in a way to forecast these changes. His assembled theory,
which I will evaluate in greater depth, is termed the Loss Aversion Theory of Foreign Policy Change .
This Theory entails three hypotheses on the conditions under which we can expect and, more
importantly, predict changes in foreign policy. Although Welch remains humble regarding his Theory s
drawbacks and predictive capabilities, there are some potentially problematic assumptions at the
foundation of Loss Aversion Theory. I will discuss why Welch s Theory is primarily useful solely at
the Individual Level. Finally, I intend to discuss why the Theory is not a comprehensive theory of
foreign policy and why the assumptions required for the Theory to hold limit the cases that can be
explained by it. After finding numerous theoretical and practical difficulties in the attempts thus far to
draft of a theory of state behavior, Welch proposes that [a] possible way out of [these difficulties] is to
seek to base predictions not on explanations of why states behave the way they do in general... but on
explanations of why they deviate from their prior behavior. Looking only at the changes in state
behavior is a radical approach; it is a perspective from which what [states] do in general is irrelevant.
