The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Trust Board has applied for resource consent to remove several Category C heritage buildings and residential structures from their property located at 435 Tuhikaramea Road in Hamilton. The buildings proposed for removal include the David O McKay Building and Wendell B Mendenhall Library, which are zoned for community facilities use, as well as seven houses and two duplexes that fall within a proposed special character overlay zone. The application and supporting documents are available for public inspection, and submissions from the public on the proposal must be received by August 26, 2009.
