The study examines sensory characteristics of patients with chronic non-specific low back pain (cnslbp) by classifying them into mechanical pain (mp) and non-mechanical pain (nmp) profiles. It finds that those with nmp exhibit significantly increased cold pain thresholds (cpt) compared to both mp subjects and healthy controls, while mechanical pain subjects have similar pain thresholds to controls. The results suggest differing underlying pain mechanisms between the profiles, which may influence targeted management strategies.
