About Service Models
in Cloud Computing
Service models of cloud computing refer to
the different levels of services provided
over the cloud, offering varying degrees of
control and management. The three main
models are:
IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service):
Provides virtualized infrastructure like
storage and networking.
1.
PaaS (Platform as a Service): Offers a
platform for developers to build and
deploy applications without managing
infrastructure.
2.
SaaS (Software as a Service): Delivers
fully managed software applications
over the internet, accessible through a
web browser.
3.
Paas(Platform as a
service)
Platform as a Service (PaaS) is a cloud
computing service model that provides a
platform allowing customers to develop,
run, and manage applications without
dealing with the complexities of
managing underlying infrastructure,
such as servers, storage, or networking.
PaaS provides a ready-to-use
environment that includes software
development tools, operating systems,
databases, and application frameworks.
IaaS(Infrastructure as a
Service)
Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) is a cloud computing service model that provides virtualized
computing resources over the internet. IaaS offers the fundamental building blocks for cloud IT,
including virtual machines, storage, networking, and computing power, without the need for businesses
to invest in and maintain physical hardware. Users can rent these resources on a pay-as-you-go basis,
allowing for flexibility and scalability.
SaaS(Software as a service)
Software as a Service (SaaS): SaaS is the most user-
friendly service model, where applications are hosted and
managed by third-party providers and are accessible over
the internet. With SaaS, users don't need to install or
maintain any software, as everything is accessed via a web
browser. Examples of SaaS include Google Workspace
(formerly G Suite), Microsoft 365, and Salesforce.
SaaS offerings can
scale to accommodate
more users or
increased demand,
with minimal effort
from the user’s side.
SaaS applications are
typically accessed through
a web browser, making
them platform-
independent and easy to
use from any device with
an internet connection.
