The Timoney Leadership Institute employs the case- study method, which is an excellent learning tool that combines real-life situations with proven principles and concepts. Venue: Carton House Hotel The February, March, April and June modules of the Advanced Leadership Programme will take place in Carton House Hotel, about 30 minutes’ drive from Dublin city centre and just off the N4 road to Galway. This historic and peaceful venue, with its 1100 acres of private parkland, provides the perfect setting for this programme. The house is one of Ireland’s most historic, and Queen Victoria knew it well. After the first Duke of Leinster chose it for his country residence in 1739, it remained in the FitzGerald family until the mid 20th century. You can admire, feel inspired, and work in the attractive setting of the Morrison Room, not to mention the exquisite and contemporary cuisine in the Linden Tree restaurant. And this in one of Ireland’s most attractive settings - a world away, yet very close to Dublin city and only 30 minutes’ drive from Dublin Airport. Fees The fee for the February – June programme is €10,500. This fee includes tuition, all learning materials, all meals and hotel accommodation costs in Carton House Hotel and in Seville. It does not include flights or travel expenses incurred in travelling to Seville. A key component of the fee is to cover the costs of bringing world-class faculty to Ireland. - 4. Charles Handy Best-Selling Author, Broadcaster and Business Guru Charles Handy was born in Co. Kildare, Ireland. He pursued his education at Oriel College Oxford and then joined Royal Dutch Shell. He was awarded a CBE in 2000. Handy’s main concern today is the implication for society, and for individuals, of the dramatic changes which technology, demographics and economics are bringing to the workplace and to all our lives. He is the author of many best-selling business books including The Empty Raincoat and The Elephant and the Flea. W. Earl Sasser Baker Foundation Professor, Harvard Business School Earl Sasser is a Baker Foundation Professor at Harvard Business School and has been a member of the faculty there since 1969. He received a BA in Mathematics from Duke University, an MBA from the University of North Carolina and a PhD in Economics from Duke University. Asís Martinez-Jerez Associate Professor of Business Administration, Harvard Business School Asís Martinez-Jerez joined the Harvard Business School faculty in 2001. Subsequently, in 2005, Asís received the MBA Class Award for teaching excellence and, in 2010, the Jim Bulloch Award for Innovation in Management Accounting Education. He currently teaches a second-year MBA elective of his own design on the specialism of Customer Intelligence Advantage. Kenneth P. Morse Founding MD of the MIT Entrepreneurship Center Professor of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Kenneth Morse is the Founding Managing Director of the MIT Entrepreneurship Center and he holds a Chair in Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Competitiveness at Delft University of Technology in The Netherlands. He serves on the National Advisory Council of Innovation & Entrepreneurship for the USA. Santiago Alvarez de Mon Professor of Managing People in Organizations, IESE Santiago Alvarez de Mon is a professor in the Department of Managing People in Organizations. His areas of interest include: employee participation; cooperative labour relations; transformational leadership; initiative and personal creativity; interpersonal relationships in companies: communication and key characteristics of high performance teams. He has a PhD in Sociology and Political Sciences from the Universidad Pontífica de Salamanca and an MBA from IESE. Jose Antonio Boccherini Professor of Information Systems, San Telmo International Institute Jose Antonio Boccherini is Director of Information Systems and he is also Director of the Agri-business Department at San Telmo. He is a member of IAMA (International Agribusiness Management Association) and a member of its Program Planning Committee. He was a principal partner at the Spanish office of DiamondCluster International (now part of PwC). Carlos García Pont Professor of Marketing, IESE Carlos García Pont places special emphasis on the importance of alliances in understanding competitive strategy, the organizational needs of market-oriented organizations in industrial markets, and subsidiary strategy in global corporations. Professor Pont has had extensive experience with both local and multinational organizations in his consulting activities and has worked extensively on strategic management and marketing strategy. He has a PhD in Philosophy from MIT and an MBA from IESE. Brita Wergeland Hektoen Professor in Organizational Behavior, San Telmo International Institute Brita Hektoen has been the MBA Program Director at San Telmo for the past five years. Previously, she also worked with IESE as Executive Director of the MBA Program. She holds an MBA from IESE and a Degree in Business Administration from Trondheim Økonomiske Høgskole in Norway. Ramon Casadesus-Masanell Professor of Business Administration, Harvard Business School Ramon Casadesus-Masanell is currently Faculty Chair of Harvard Business School’s European Research Initiative, and of its Executive Education in Europe Programme. He also runs a doctoral programme in Strategy and International Management at MIT. He received his PhD in Managerial Economics and Strategy from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University. Luis María Huete Professor of Production, Technology and Operations Management, IESE Luis María Huete has been a professor at IESE since 1982 and is the author of 10 top management books in Spain. He has lectured on Harvard Business School’s Achieving Breakthrough Service and Advanced Management programmes. As a visiting lecturer, he regularly participates in Advanced Management Programmes at prestigious business schools like ESMT (Germany), ISEM Fashion (Spain), Louvain (Belgium) and Deusto (Spain). He also works with the corporate universities of Bupa (UK), ISS (Denmark), Omnicom (USA), and Telefónica (Spain). A law graduate, he has an MBA from IESE and a PhD from Boston University. Eduardo Martínez Abascal Professor of Financial Management, IESE Eduardo is Professor of Financial Management in IESE, where he has taught since 1992. His teaching activities cover corporate finance, portfolio management and capital markets. In recent years, he has taught classes on executive education programs in Barcelona, Madrid, Munich, Shanghai, Lagos, Nairobi, Cairo, Sao Paulo, Montevideo, Mexico, Bogota, and Washington D.C. He has a PhD in Economics and Business Administration from the Universitat De Barcelona and an MBA from IESE. FACULTY The Timoney Leadership Institute is fielding a world-class faculty with a multi-disciplinary and cross-cultural perspective. - 5. How is it structured? The programme is divided into five 2-day modules held over five months. Each month, participants will come together for two days to attend interactive sessions with expert, internationally-experienced faculty. There will be a unique opportunity to discuss issues and trends that are directly relevant to leading and finding solutions for your organisation in these testing times. Each 2-day module will include an evening dinner on the first day with a guest speaker. May module in Seville The May module will take place at the San Telmo International Institute in Seville, Spain. This will provide the opportunity to engage with leaders from this region of Spain (Andalusia) which has many parallels with Ireland in terms of its stage of economic development and related business challenges. For some participants, this may also open up business opportunities in new markets. What will be covered in this programme? - 6. Timoney Leadership Institute This not-for-profit Institute was set up in 2012 to deliver world-class senior executive education programmes in Ireland. It is a development of the Lismullin Leadership Forum which has organised over 20 successful conferences for CEOs since 2006. The Institute is recognised by the Irish Revenue Commissioners as a charitable body (CHY number: 6778). The senior business leaders from throughout Ireland, North and South, who set up the Timoney Leadership Institute, believe that the development and well-being of people should be the cornerstone of all management practice, and a key priority in leading the way to growth and prosperity. He embodied and radiated energy, drive and courage. He was inspirational, and founded the Timoney Technology Group. An article about him in The Irish Times in 1985 was titled “The renaissance man of Irish engineering”. His technology transfer achievements were rewarded by the Tanzanian government with the naming of the Timoney Memorial Library in his honour. San Telmo International Institute The main objective of San Telmo is to help business owners, directors and top executives develop their leadership and management skills. It achieves this through its own faculty and through visiting professors from leading business schools around the world. In addition to teaching, San Telmo’s faculty either run their own business or play an advisory role in a company, so that they have hands-on knowledge of current challenges. Over 7,000 alumni have benefited from San Telmo’s programmes since it was founded in 1982, and they participate in regular refresher modules. A sign of the esteem in which San Telmo is held in Andalusia is the fact that the municipal authorities in both Seville and Málaga provided them with historic buildings in both cities for their teaching facilities.
