This document summarizes the key findings from research conducted by ManpowerGroup on accelerating more women into leadership roles. The research involved interviews with 222 global leaders from 25 countries. It found that achieving gender parity in leadership will take an average of 17 more years according to leaders, with Millennial women being the most pessimistic at 22 years. The biggest barrier is seen as an entrenched male culture. While programs and policies aim to promote more women leaders, culture change driven from the top is viewed as the most powerful way to create gender neutral workplaces. Flexibility and outcomes-based performance are priorities for Millennial women. Mentors provide support but sponsors who advocate publicly are needed to help women advance to the top
