EVALUATION: QUESTION 3
What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and
                                 why?
                          By Shanniyhe Grant- Henriques
DISTRIBUTION COMPANY
The distribution company that we chose to distribute our film was ‘Revolver Films’.

• Revolver is an example of company that distributes mainly British films through cinemas
    and film festivals.
• Revolver is one of the leading independents, is marketing-led and is an all rights film
    distributing company.
• The company has operations in London.
• The company is also responsible for distribution of independent films such as ‘Ill Manors’
and ‘Offender’., which feature home grown actors.
WHY WE CHOSE REVOLVER FILMS
• ‘Revolver’, is responsible for the release of films that primarily have a UK audience. For
example one of the companies responsibilities ‘Chatroom’, is a British thriller film, which was
only released in the UK through ‘Revolver’ - making it mainly approachable for a UK audience.

• It is an independent company responsible for films with a smaller budget- making it more
appropriate to our film’s very small budget. It was also more appropriate for us, in a that
having a large Hollywood company, due to it’s larger budget, wouldn’t be suitable for our
    independent film.

• It ‘s films promote home-grown actors, such as Kimberly Nixon and Adam Deacon - making
it suitable for the local and national actors featured in our thriller.

                                                                                 British Actress
                                                                                 Kimberly Nixon
• Many of the films, it’s distributed had lower (cheaper) production values- For
example one of it’s responsibilities ‘Anuvahood’ was filmed in a local area of West
London, similar to our opening being filmed locally at King’s Cross in North London.

   • The internet has made it easier for independent productions to be distributed through
social media- For example Revolver has used social media marketing for many of it’s
films, through sites such as YouTube and Facebook- making our independent production
more easily available to the public and target audience, whilst also suiting the marketing
of our thriller through sites such as Facebook and Vimeo.

PRODUCTION COMPANY
The production company we used was ‘Unbound Feet productions’.

 • Unbound Feet productions is an independent film production company.
 • It is responsible for many short films such as ‘Reality Check’ and ‘Family
Inc’, films in which have a smaller production values, local or national
   actors and smaller budgets.
 • It is also responsible for films that have screened at film festivals
   nationwide.
WHY WE CHOSE UNBOUND FEET PRODUCTIONS

 • It’s responsible for small, independent productions- such as ‘The Kitchen’ making the
company immensely appropriate for our small and independent thriller film.

 • It has a low budget – making it affordable and suitable for our independent film, along
with it’s lower/ cheaper productions values, similar to it’s productions such as

 • It promises local and homegrown actors such as Amber Stevens and Andrew J. West-
best suiting our thriller due to our similar use of local and homegrown actors.

                                                                                      Home-grown
                                                                                      actress Amber
                                                                                      Stevens.
