NOT REALLY, SPECIALISTS SAY.
AS LONG AS THE MARKETING INTERESTS DON’T OVERRIDE
USER’S FUNDAMENTAL RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS AND
“REASONABLE EXPECTATIONS”
THE ESSENTIALS
Mandatory consent
Specific legislation regarding online marketing
still not approved and under discussion
NOT RESTRICTIVE
ENOUGH!
TOO
RESTRICTIVE!
WHICH WAY TO GO?
PRIVACY BY DESIGN
art. 25(1)
PSEUDONYMIZATION
art. 32(1)
Your data management
strategy must have (and
be able to demonstrate)
privacy is a top priority.
PRIVACY BY DEFAULT
art. 25(2)
You will only collect the
bare minimum amount
of information you need
from a user.
You will implement
measures to ensure
data is not easily
attributed back to a
given subject
WHAT APPLIES FOR SURE
HOW THE PRIVATE DMP CAN HELP
Ensures ownership and
control over 1st party data
while bringing in 3rd party
data in a safe and closed
environment.
You decide what data to
collect, which purpose
you collect it for and
whom you want to
share it with.
IP anonymization and
hashing in data
collection can be used
as safeguards to render
data confidential.

Editor's Notes

  • #12: But the thing is, we already have quite clear legislation that will allow for online marketing to keep happening. The complicated part is how to make it happen within our companies
