Narrator explains to the audience who Charles is. 28 5 Medium close-up shot The freeze-frame ends and the same shot continues. We can still hear Gary and Nick arguing. 4 6 Medium shot We see Nick and Gary still arguing. 4 7 Medium close-up shot We see Gary. 2 8 Medium close-up shot; freeze- frame Still image of Gary looking heated in his argument. The Narrator explains to the audience who Gary is. 23 9 Medium close-up shot The medium close-up shot continues as the freeze-frame ends. Gary and Nick are still arguing. 3 10 Medium shot Back to the shot of both Nick and Gary arguing. 3 11 Medium close-up shot Nick is shouting. 3 12 Medium close-up shot; The same shot of Nick mid-way through shouting. 17
- 2. freeze- frame 13 Medium close-up shot The shot resumes as the freeze-frame ends. 3 14 Medium shot The first audible dialogue is spoken by the characters. Nick is berating Gary. 15 15 Medium close-up shot Following the brief pause in dialogue, Nick continues to berate Gary. 12 16 Medium close-up shot Gary responds to Nick. 2 17 Medium close-up shot As each character delivers their line, the camera switches back and forth between them. Nick is questioning why Gary shot a civilian. 4 18 Medium close-up shot Gary defends his actions, claiming she was a witness to the shooting 4 19 Long shot Here we see another shot of all the characters at this point. Nick, Gary and Charles. Charles is screaming in agony while we see Nick and Gary neglecting him as they are too busy arguing. 5 20 Medium shot Nick explains how they are going to deal with the situation. 13 21 Medium shot Charles, tied to the chair continues to scream, on the verge of tears. 5 22 Long shot Showing all three characters again; Nick asks Gary for the pistol in attempt to intimidate Charles into quieting down. 3 23 Medium- close up shot We see Gary producing a pistol from his jacket pocket and passing it over to Nick. Charles is clearly in excruciating pain. 3 24 Medium shot Starting with only Charles in the shot, Nick walks over with a pistol in his hand and shouts at Charles. 12 25 Close up shot Charles spits towards the ground. 2 26 Point-of- view From the point of view of Nick, we can see that Charles’ spit has landed on Nick’s shoe. 2
- 3. 27 Medium shot Nick knocks Charles unconscious by smashing him round the face with the end of the pistol. Charles falls back on his chair to the ground. 5 28 Medium shot Placed just in front of where we see Charles, Nick walks back over to Gary. 3 29 Medium shot Nick and Gary discuss talking to a man called Alex (Alexeyev). Nick produces a phone from his pocket. 6 30 Medium close-up shot Nick talks to Alexeyev on the phone. 15 31 Medium shot Nick and Gary discuss the phone call before the end of the scene. 10 32 Scene ends and fades to black. The next scene then fades in. 33 Medium shot Nick is leaning against the wall with his arms crossed, Gary is sat on the floor – both look bored. 10 34 Medium close-up shot Nick begins to explain to Gary who ‘Alex the Axe’ is 3 35 Medium close-up shot; freeze- frame Freeze-frame of the previous shot – Nick is midway through talking as the scene pauses and the Narrator begins to talk. 44 36 Medium close-up shot The freeze-frame ends and Nick finishes what he was supposedly saying. 8 37 Medium shot Gary delivers the final line before the end of the scene. 5 38 Scene ends and fades to black. The next scene then fades in. 39 Medium shot Nick delivers the first line of the scene. We then hear the sound of the garage door open – Nick reaches for the pistol in his pocket but Alexeyev appears. Realising who it is, he takes his hand off his weapon 10 40 Medium close-up shot Alexeyev 3 41 Medium close-up shot; The narrator begins to talk about Alexeyev. 19
- 4. freeze- frame 42 Medium shot After the freeze-frame we see a shot of Gary approaching Alexeyev to give him a friendly meeting. Up until “Did you think that…?” 19 43 Over the shoulder shot Shot over Alexeyev’s shoulder, pointed at Nick and Gary. “What the fuck are you on about?” 6 44 Medium shot “It was lifted” 3 45 Medium close-up shot Nick – “Are you pulling my pisser?” 3 46 Medium close-up shot Alexeyev – “Do I look like I’m fucking joking?” 3 47 Medium shot Shot of Gary and Nick – “What do you mean the contract has been lifted?” 4 48 Point of view shot POV of Gary. Alexeyev – “Do you mean to tell me that you didn’t know?” 3 49 Over the shoulder shot Shot over Alexeyev’s shoulder, pointed at Nick and Gary. “No?” 3 50 Point of view shot POV of Gary. Alexeyev – “Well now im going to have to kill you!” 3 51 Over the (right) shoulder shot Alexeyev raises his pistol swiftly, aiming it Gary. He fires two rounds at Gary who is instantly shot dead. His body is thrown backwards, falling backwards. 10 52 Close up The empty casings of the rounds fall to the ground in slow motion. The pinging sound of them hitting the ground is also in slow motion. The shot ends when the casings stop moving. 10? 53 Medium shot Nick – “What the fuck!” He then reaches for his own pistol, raising it to match Alexeyev. “Why the fuck did you do that?” 7 54 Medium shot Alexeyev – “The contract had been lifted.” 3 55 Long shot (from just in front of Charles) “You fu-“. Alexeyev begins to explain the reality of the situation to Nick. 12
- 5. 56 Medium shot “Matthews? Fuck me!” Nick still has his pistol raised 4 57 Long shot (same as before) Alexeyev continues… 15 58 Point of View shot POV of Alexeyev - Nick responds “Well look, ‘ang on a sec..” 3 59 Point of View shot POV of Nick. Alexeyev – “You shot a man…” 10 60 Medium shot Nick – “Nah he ain’t dead.” 3 61 Point of View shot POV of Nick (as before). Alexeyev nods his head in a manner that suggests Nick should turn around and look at Charles. 3 62 Over the shoulder shot Over Alexeyev’s shoulder: Nick, with his weapon still pointed towards Alexeyev, looks over his shoulder to look at Charles. “Fuck.” Nick turns his head back to look at Alexeyev. 8 63 Medium shot Alexeyev – “Yes, fuck.” 4 64 Long shot This shot is taken from the side, with both characters pointing their pistols at each other in a standoff-like manner. They both look intense. After 5-6 seconds Nick says: “You bastard.” He then screams in anger. Nick fires a shot at Alex and almost instantly after Alexeyev returns a round at Nick. 13? 65 Long shot; freeze- frame The shot then pauses into a freeze-frame seeing muzzle flashes of each pistol. Nick midway through screaming and Alexeyev looks as if he is violent psychopath – multiple gunshots out of sync with each other (to suggest both weapons have been fired) are then heard.
