This paper presents a method for detecting shunt faults in transmission lines using wavelet analysis, specifically the Daubechies wavelet, applied to a modeled IEEE 9-bus power system. The proposed technique successfully classifies various fault types, achieving 100% accuracy in detection and classification of faults, including line-to-ground and three-phase faults. The study highlights the advantages of wavelet transforms over traditional Fourier analysis in dealing with transient signals in power systems.
