This study proposes a method for simulating Gartner's hype cycle curves using mathematical functions to analyze high-tech trends in Japan, specifically focusing on customer relationship management, supply chain management, and cloud computing. By applying polynomial and sigmoid functions, the research demonstrates that Gompertz functions provide a better fit than logistic functions for observed data from 4,772 newspaper articles. The findings aim to facilitate a clearer understanding of technology adoption and its phases in the innovation lifecycle.
