 Developing skills for a new software that I've never used in the
past was a journey for me. A software that is very well known in
the media and the IT world which is an image editing software
called Adobe Photoshop CC. It was difficult for me to gain the
knowledge over this software, considering the fact I've never
came across this software in my past. I have edited a few images
using Paintshop pro, which isn't as challenging as Adobe
Photoshop, since it's very limited when it comes to editing.
 Meanwhile learning the skills in this software, it made me realise
how it's much more efficient and useful than Paintshop pro it is.
Some thing I found difficult to find and use in Adobe Photoshop
would be some of the tools i.e. Lasso Tool or the magic wand.
Anyhow my teacher was able to help me and taught our class
how to build up experience from this software. I was able to
understand it and it's very beneficial for me as I can apply this in
the future of this project.
Skills development
This is a poster I produced using Photoshop for the first time. I tried my best
to make it look like a real Thriller film poster using some basic connotations
from the genre, hence the black background and the cold lighting used on
the man in the middle. I also used the USA flag as a clipping mask to cover
up the text, which makes the poster look more appealing to the dark
background. Lastly I also played with the opacity with the two heads in the
background, although it’s just a split image of the same person it shows that
the person has two faces, where it gives the audience the idea of corruption,
which is a common theme within the thriller Genre.
Skills development
As you can see I made
huge progression when
it came down to skills
in Photoshop, although
it doesn’t look as
pleasing to me
compared to the first
one, it still is genuinely
a decent poster.
I’ve discovered new
functions within the
program such as the
ruler, which are the
blue lines, that aided
me with placing the images together from a parallel distance. The ruler also helped
with other stuff such as rotating the banners using the Rotating View Tool and the
red dividers which are parallel from each other.
I also learnt how to make a classic 3D text using a red version of the text and
shifting it towards right and a blue version of the text and shifting that towards left,
which creates this 3D looking text.
Skills development
 As you can see I’ve made this
Magazine cover from Total Film
following their style and how
they design their covers. I’ve
included some of the basic
connotations which are used in
magazines such as the
masthead, the pug, some
graphics and the title. Also I’ve
noticed that how Total Films
magazine usually have a quote
on top of their masthead from
the research I made. I also
followed the same colour
scheme as Harley Quinn as
well, which makes the Blue and
Pink stand out. The texts are
completely different styled as
well compared to my previous
work and I decided to use more
gradient and adjust the lighting
to make it more aesthetically
pleasing with the gradient and
the shadow.
 Lastly I added a filter to make
the background match with the
colour scheme, the way I made
this is by creating a new filter,
use the pink – blue gradient
and adjusted the blending and
opacity
