C Corp Case Study
In order to properly plan the business that John and his wife are considering, they will need to consult
a lawyer, multiple suppliers, and the municipal authority of the area. Consulting with these
professionals will clarify that their business is created in a manner that protects them from the
potential legal implications of taking on a business venture of its magnitude. Consulting a lawyer first
would be the way to start. Meeting with a lawyer is necessary for first deciding what type of business
they should start and what type of legal protection they are looking for, which in this case a C Corp
would be a great recommendation. Due to their small size, it would be an excellent idea to start a C
Corp because the double tax would not take ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also if they started a corporation it would involve them filing paperwork with their state government.
Acquiring their contractors license and realtor license would be the first step without a doubt. When
building in most rural areas there are pretty heavy zoning regulations that the building permits would
help protect them from. Building in an area that is not permitted has many serious repercussions such
as being forced to pay fines, or even being forced to close the business down. Some of the up front
costs the couple would face would be fees regarding getting their contractors license and realtor
license. Also, they would have to pay a lawyer to help them file the proper documentation. There is
also a fee to file for a corporation with the state government. All of these fees should be considered
before starting the process of construction. To begin the business, the couple will need to create many
legal documents. The list would include, company bylaws, documentation with the state regarding the
formation of the company, and possibly documents regarding investors stating what they get in return.
Another example of a document they may need to create would be contracts with suppliers, and
potentially even people looking into buying the homes before they are constructed. Making sure all
proper documentation is present is the easiest way for small businesses to avoid unneeded

The Controversy Of Dog Parks
I am a proponent of dog parks. It is my belief that these parks are a wonderful addition to any
community. There are many benefits to having such parks, not just for the animals, but for us as well.
Dogs are social creatures. They need interaction with other dogs. If they do not get the neccessary
socialization, they can become hostile toward other animals, as well as unruly around people. As we
humans need to interact with other humans, these parks are a great place for us bipeds to socialize and
make friends as well. It doesnt take a lot of space to have a dog park. Most cities already have some
peice of ground that is not being used. The dogs just need a little bit of room to run around without the
restraint of a leash.

Essay on WRACK TECHNIQUES
WRACK TECHNIQUES
Note book is a mixture of fact, fiction and speculation.
Your task as reader is to discover the truth.
Bradley makes use of historical incidents and real people. He also draws inspiration from other texts.
This is called intertextuality. For example he draws on Conrad s book Heart of Darkness to explore the
darkness in man s heart. His character Kurt parallels Conrad s Kurtz.
He also quotes from Ondaatje p.37 to develop his idea about maps whose portraits have nothing to do
with surface. This coupled with his narrative about the explorers in the Age of Colonialism
Develops the idea that reality can be deceptive. It can hold hidden dangers and often are a false
premise to start a quest. This links to

We need to decide what is true and accurate. His monologues are reflective narratives and the events
took place at least 50 years ago. How true would be the memory of a drug addict?? We also have to
rely on his version of events.
Both share similarities in they are emotionally damaged (Tania and Veronica) so the reader discovers
and speculates about the nature of relationships.
The second story is David s quest for both the ship and for some contentment in his personal life. His
story is revealed by 3rd person narration .David is tormented by his wife s death and is struggling to
find love and friendship with Claire. .
The description of their relationship draws on the language of navigation and discovery. She is seen as
undiscovered country p.32 and David is a battered vessel . The narrator suggests there is no map for
love Trust in mas is like trust in love little is what it seems.
Both stories suggest on a personal level that the mind is uncharted and difficult to understand. We see
Claire working at self discovery. David too has to navigate through his emotions; his grief to find
some middle ground with Claire.
The third story is about the age of discovery. This involves comments about maps along with
examples some true some not of explorers. All serve to suggest science is not exact and the process of
discovery holds many dangers. The historical narrative uses a factual and formal language to

CASE BRIEF
Ferguson and others v. City of Charleston and others 532 U.S. 67, 83, 121 S.Ct. 1281, 149 L.Ed.2d
205 (2001)
Argued: October 4, 2000 Decided: March 21, 2001
FACTS:
In the fall of 1988, with the concerns to the escalation use of cocaine among pregnant patients whom
were receiving prenatal treatment, the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) begun to order
drug screenings to be accomplished on the urine samples of the patients. The pregnant patients that
tested positive were referred by the MUSC staff to the county substance abuse commission for
counseling and treatment. This would lead to a relationship of MUSC staff and the Solicitor of

The U.S. District Court jury found for the City of Charleston. The Court of Appeals affirmed, holding
that the searches were reasonable as a matter of law under our line of cases recognizing that special
needs may, in certain exceptional circumstances, justify a search policy designed to serve non law
enforcement ends. On the understanding, that MUSC personnel conducted the urine drug screens for
medical purposes wholly independent of an intent to aid law enforcement efforts, the majority applied
the balancing test, and concluded that the interest in curtailing the pregnancy complications and
medical costs associated with maternal cocaine use overweighed what the majority termed an minimal
intrusion on the privacy of the parents. We conclude that the judgement should be reversed and the

Analysis Of Beneath Clouds
The notion of the contemporary indigenous identity and the impact of these notions are both explored
in texts that have been studied. Ivan Sen s 2002 film Beneath Clouds focuses on the stereotypical
behaviours of Indigenous Australians highlighting Lina and Vaughn s journey. This also signifies the
status and place of the Australian identity today. Through the use of visual techniques and stereotypes
the ideas that the Indigenous are uneducated, involved in crime and the stereotypical portrayal of
white people are all explored. Similarly the notion of urban and rural life is represented in Kennith
Slessor s William Street and Country Towns .
In contemporary times the Indigenous are stereotypically represented as being violent and aggressive.
Sen is creating a stereotypical image of young Indigenous boys as criminals and dominative. An
extreme close up of Vaughn behind jail bars show the separation between Vaughn and society. The
stereotype of Indigenous Australians as criminals is shown in a negative light and acts as a false
stereotype. The jail bars act as a physical and metaphorical barrier and the use of non diegetic music
sets a mood of extreme sadness. Domestic violence is also suggested in the car ride. The women with
the child is seen as submissive and this violence acts as usual practise. However, Vaughn does not
appear to this stereotype of all males being dominative. Sen s use of camera angles highlights the
stereotypical nature of indigenous people and

Compare And Contrast Dr Jekyll And Mr Hyde
In the novel The strange case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde there is a theme of good vs evil. Good being
Dr. Jekyll and evil Mr Hyde they have the inner fight between themselves, because they are the same
person.Robert louis Stevenson uses Diction, imagery, and details to contrast the character of Dr. Jekyll
and Mr Hyde Stevenson uses diction to contrast how Dr. Jekyll is a high qualified doctor, and how
Mr.Hyde is an evil man. Henry Jekyll MD ,DLC, LLD,FRS, . (11 Stevenson.) Dr. Jekyll has many
degrees in his field of work, and he is very qualified to be a doctor, Stevenson show that he is very

compared to which poor Jekylls worst would be like sunshine. (18 Stevenson) This quote shows that
Dr.jekyll is good, compared to Hyde he is good. Even Dr.Jekyll s Darkest deepest secrets compared to
Hyde s secrets Jekyll s look like sunshine, and cant even compare to Hyde s secrets. Now that that evil
influence had been withdrawn, a new life began for Dr.Jekyll. (31 Stevenson)This Quote shows that
Mr. Hyde is evil. Hyde s evil influence on Dr.jekyll who was a good man and Mr.Hyde was turning
him into something evil. With his evil influence gone Dr.Jekyll can be himself; a good man. It turns
me to think of this creature stealing like a thief to harry s bedside; poor harry what a wakening! (18

Western Imperialism In Japan
The Transformation of Imperialism in Japan (Imperialism; kominka, moe, 100 Year War ) Imperialism
is a system of extending a country s power and influence to other countries, normally through
colonization and use of military force. Imperialism had spread to Japan from the West in the 19th
century. In the Bakumatsu period, Western imperialism spread to Japan, and the Western nations
forced Bakufu to open the country by advanced military and weapons. It was the beginning of the
Japanese government fought against Western imperialism. Later, in the Meiji period, the Meiji
government established the Meiji Restoration to build a strong economy and military, which signified
the establishment of the Japanese imperialism. Later then, the Japanese

Television And Behavioral Analysis
Television is one of the most widely used forms of communication today; it is used for broadcast
purposes on entertainment, education, and information to people from all around the world. There are
a number of different genres a person can choose to watch on television, all without taking a step out
of their front door. Criminal television shows classify as one of these genres and are one of the most
popular. Most of the time, the production of a criminal television show is where an author examines an
actual past crime and then uses re enactments to help draw in their audience; some common ones that
are usually heard of, in the United States specifically, are CSI, Law Order, Criminal Minds, NCIS, etc.
As incorporated in the title, Criminal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is said that the harshness and brutality of this genre is crossing the borderline and not giving exact
reenactments like it s supposedly assumed to. In fact, Georgia Hakin, in Artifice Magazine, states that,
The leader of the FBI s Behavioural Analysis Unit on Criminal Minds, Jason Gideon, departed the
show after season two for reasons revolving around familiarity of these dark scenarios, a stance
written to appear almost as art imitating life . This actor, Mandy Patinkin, had complete access to
seeing everything layed out before even put behind screen, but still felt that this show was too dark
and he should have taken into more thought on what he was getting himself into. Instances arising out
of this situation were negative comments on the content that was showed in Criminal Minds
specifically; some people saw it as too harsh and even sick. A few of the substances that these remarks
were made off of were things like rape, abduction, hostage, torture, and the murdering of victims. The
debate at hand is whether or not this material is civilized enough for watchers to access.
Furthermore, it is pointed out that viewing violence and then later performing violent behavior has
been proven to have a high correlation. In order for people to acquire a knowledge of aggressive
behavior, they have to be exposed to it first. According to Steven F. Messner on JSTOR, ...residents in
communities with high levels of exposure to television violence might be less likely than those in
communities with lowers levels of exposure to report criminal incidents to the police. From past
researches, it was said that this is because of the possible fear and mistrust which is connected with

The Difference Between Copy And Simulacrum
The following essay will explain the differences between exhibition and cult value as discussed by
Walter Benjamin s: The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction (1995). This will aid in
discussing how the relationship between cult and exhibition value result in the loss of the aura of
authenticity and the aura of uniqueness in reproduced works of art. It will define the concept of
simulacrum according to Michael Camille s Simulacrum. The essay will also explain Jean Baudrillard
s understanding of the lack of the real in contemporary society, how simulacrum threatens the
modernist and the postmodernist notions of the real and how these postmodern strategies are no longer
relevant. The Loss of the Aura Cult value refers to the ritual aspect of looking at an artwork and why

While the copy is seen second to the model the original only imitating it, simulacrum destroys this
hierarchy entirely (Camille 1996:33). The copy is related to the original, it is based on something
which exists, whereas the simulacrum is like the original, but it s not (Camille 1996:32). Although we
recognise it as realistic it bears little resemblance to reality and the physical world in which we live
(Camille 1996:32). One of the most important differences between a copy and simulacrum is that the
copy is filled with the resemblance whilst the simulacrum lacks resemblance (Hart 2004:53). The
existence of an original is what enables the sense of authenticity, if there is no original there is no
question of authenticity (Benjamin 2004:795). In creating a copy, the distance between the object and
audience is narrowed and the aura of the artwork is destroyed when it removes the uniqueness that is
evident in the original (Benjamin

Strengths And Weaknesses That Are Essential In A...
In his research Rogers identified six elements which are necessary in a counselling relationship for
therapeutic change or growth to occur. Three of these elements are closely associated with the
personal qualities which the counsellor brings to their relationship with clients. These are now
famously referred to as the core conditions. The first of these core conditions is empathy, which has
been described as the ability to feel what it s like to walk in someone else s shoes, and is very different
from sympathy, as this touching animation explains. The second condition is referred to as
Unconditional Positive Regard (UPR) and it is perhaps closely related to unconditional love. UPR is

STRENGTHS OF GESTALT APPROACH
1. It relies on creative efforts
The client in relation to the therapist uses the links and connections aided through psychotherapy and
counseling in finding out new and creative solutions to otherwise seemingly closed ended problems.
2. It has respect for the issues of client in context
The emotional and psycho social issues of client are addressed in a way suited to context of the
problem. As this approach believes in problem in relation to context.
3. It helps the client to find own ways to solve a problem by linking the emotional barriers and issues
The client is able to track the trajectory from past to present and how various down links are
connected and where are the actual issues.
4. It is more caring and supportive
This approach is social in nature and cares for the client in a comprehensive and thorough manner
instead of tracking spots and blaming singular behaviors.
5. It has more social responsibility
Gestalt also is a more socially responsible approach as it helps the therapist to aid the treatment of
client on a bigger level with motives to improve the overall life and its interests.

Class Struggle In Everything That Rises Must Converge By...
Class struggle is the tension between different classes resulted from different interest, social, and
economic position. There is always an intangible boundary between the ruling class and the working
class. All the members of two classes are well educated that they have to act as their role, and none of
them are allowed to violate the border between two classes. This idea is formed and maintained by the
ideological state apparatuses, particularly by family and school, in raising children and forming
society. How the members of different class treat each other has been discussed in many pieces of art,
including The Doll s House by Katherine Mansfield and Everything That Rises Must Converge by

However, he was raised in the society where everyone lived with the mindset of racism. He is not

O Connor states that He had never been successful at making any Negro friends. He had tried to strike

The Dark Ways And Savage Battle Tactics
Elvellyn
With glowing eyes, mysterious ways and savage battle tactics, Elvellyn are often mistaken for demons
and are widely feared by those who know of them.
Pack Mentality
Elves are commonly seen as a gentle, slow moving and tree hugging race among many humans.
However, this could not be further from the truth. When in their element the Elvellyn are not only
graceful and mysterious but quite brutal and unforgiving. Among their own race many see each other
as family, or pack. But outsiders and offenders are dealt with quickly and savagely. Respect and even
devotion to each other runs in their blood, and it is an almost inescapable instinct to be near and
support other Elvellyn.
It is not uncommon for them to live communally, with groups of young adult friends living together in
one large home with a single kitchen and bath, or large families doing the same. More often than not
the bonds of friendship formed as fledglings will develop into either romances or Bond s, making
them family, so when asked what one s relation is to a close friend it is usually described as bond
brother/sister or heart bond .
Culture
Fairly religious, those who are open about their dislike or disbelief in the gods are usually shunned
and ostracized by the community.
While slow paced and seemingly lazy in their everyday, normal routines, Elvellyn will work diligently
and untiringly when motivated and prefer to move quickly when it is not deemed impolite.

The Concepts Of Human Psychology
With each choice you take, each judgment you make, there is a conflict in your psyche; a fight
amongst instinct and rationale. Moreover, the instinctive piece of your brain is significantly more
intense than you may might suspect. The vast majority of us get a kick out of the chance to believe
that we are equipped for settling on sound choices. We may on occasion depend on our gut nature,
however in the event that essential we can approach our forces of motivation to touch base at a
consistent choice. Usually, we surmise that we have purposes behind what we trust, that is frequently a
misstep.
Prof Daniel Kahneman, from Princeton University, began an inquiry in our comprehension of the

This quick state of mind is staggeringly effective, yet completely covered up. It is so intense, it is

constrained, we are not immaculate, we are nonsensical in a wide range of ways but then you have no
clue this is going on. This framework is your concealed auto pilot, and it has its very own brain. It is
sometimes known as the outsider inside. More often than not, our quick, instinctive personality is in
charge, proficiently assuming responsibility of the considerable number of thousands of choices we
make every day. The issue comes when we permit our quick, instinctive framework to settle on
choices that we should disregard to our moderate, consistent framework. This is the place the
oversights sneak in.
Our reasoning is loaded with efficient errors referred to clinicians as intellectual predispositions and
they influence all that we do. They make us spend incautiously, be excessively impacted by what other
individuals think. They influence our convictions, our sentiments, and our choices, and we have no

Vimy Ridge was in France. It was four Canadian divisions against three German divisions. In this
battle Canadians used a new strategy. Canada was led by Arthur Currie who was a great strategist as
well as the first Canadian to have the rank of general. The battle of Vimy Ridge made a significant

War at Sea 1914: This war provided the first test of Canada s Royal Navy. The Germans had noticed
that Canada had their own Navy. So, in return there were many threats coming from the German Navy
from the Atlantic and the Pacific, especially by the German submarines. In 1914 there were no signs
of battle happening from the Germans until later. So, Canada was expanding its navy as quickly as it
can. This battle happened in 1918. This was a big significance to Canada because it showed that
Canada s own Navy; without Britain s help is successful.
Hundred Days: Hundred days were the last hundred days of World War One. There were couple of
battles and/ or events. One of the battles were fought in Ameins. Canada and its allies attacked and
captured 13km of land in one day. At the end, German forces were forced to retreat. This was a was a
significance to Canada because Canadians captured the most territory ,war prisoners, and equipment

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Armenia
In this fast changing world, cars seem to play a very significant role. As technology has developed and
improved over time the use of bicycles has decreased. Before the motor vehicle revolution, bicycles
were a great type of transport as they were effective and convenient for their simplicity of design. In
many developed countries people still use bicycles as their main mean of transportation. It seems that
this trend of using bicycles has not reached Armenia and it is considered as a novelty. The
overwhelming majority of people prefer cars to bicycles. There are many environmental and social
issues caused by an increase in the number of cars in Armenia. Thus, the Armenian government taking
measures to encourage cycling to become a widely used mode of transportation in Armenia can be
beneficial for the country as well as the people.
Encouraging people to use bicycles instead of cars will decrease the ecological and environmental
footprint people have in the country. Riding a bicycle uses no non renewable energy and emits no
pollution. Cars consume a lot of energy and natural resources even before they make it to the open
road. Their production leaves a big footprint because materials like steel, rubber, glass and paint must
be created before the car is ready to be used. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Essay about Change In The Things They Carried
Change In The Things They Carried a war novel by Tim O Brien, we are told many short stories
compiled to make a whole. I want to emphasis on the importance of the chapter Sweetheart of the
Song Tra Bong . In this chapter we are introduced to the character Mary Anne. She shows the
changing power of Vietnam, that a sweet innocent young girl can come into this land and be forever
consumed by her surroundings. The speaker show us this through character action, character
description, dialogue and metaphor; this enhances the literary work by showing us that the soldiers
will always be a part of Vietnam no matter how hard they try to get away from it. Mary Anne was a
young sweet innocent girl unaffected by the war at first. The speaker ... Show more content on

True, this may have also happened even if she didn t go over seas. Having Fossie gone for a long
period of time may have sparked her curiosity. Her innocence was soon lost in the war. Mary Anne s
curiosity provoked her change. You see this from the way she is described. If it wasn t for her avid
nature to learn more about her surroundings she may have stayed the same. She wanted to know
everything about Vietnam, she didn t just want to sit back and watch. She wanted to be in the action.
Though she was young, Rat said Mary Anne Bell was no timid child. She was curious about things
asking questions . listen quietly while someone would fill her in. She had a good quick mind. (95)
She was enthralled by her surroundings she wanted to do and know everything, she was in a new place
ready and willing to learn unlike the soldiers who were there only because they had too. The speaker
shows us this in this quote. They carried the soldiers greatest fear, which was the fear of blushing it
was what had brought them to the war in the first place, nothing positive they kept humping. They
did not submit to the obvious alternative to fall. (21) This quote is to inform the reader that the only
reason a solider would go to war and to stay there is from the fear of blushing That they weren t there
by choice. The term humping is used. It is there way of dealing with the war. They just have to keep
on ‘humping and everything would be all right. It was there way

Overcoming Obstacles In Helen Keller s Life
Would you be able to live not hearing or seeing anything for your whole life? Would you be able to
live knowing for half of your life that no one believed you could succeed in life. Helen Keller
persevered for her whole life not being able to see or hear. She encountered many obstacles
throughout her life. Helen was born in 1880 in Tuscumbia, Alabama. As a result, she then lost her
sight and hearing for the rest of her life. When she was little she acted like an animal, didn t change
her clothes or didn t let people brush her hair. In addition, she took other peoples food and locked
people in rooms and hid the key. In spite of, all these challenges Helen Keller persevered, faced

Africa Has Had Some Atrocities Occur In Its History. One
Africa has had some atrocities occur in its history. One of those was the tyranny of King Leopold. In
order to gain control of Congo King Leopold would use violent force and control economic
monopolies. His violence was fairly unknown by the rest of the world until some missionaries and
other Europeans came into Africa and witnessed the horrors. The missionaries would go on to write
about what they experienced and spread the word to inform society of what is occurring. Most of the
violence done by King Leopold was coming from the hands of his military called the Force Publique.

Introduction to Noise and Vibration Damping
INTRODUCTION TO NOISE AND VIBRATION DAMPING
Vibrations are undesirable for structures, due to the need for structural stability, position control,
durability, performance, and noise reduction. Vibrations are concern to large structures such as aircraft
and small structures such as electronics.
Reduction of Vibration can be attained by increasing damping capacity and increasing the stiffness.
The loss modulus is the product of these two quantities and thus can be considered a figure of merit
for the vibration reduction ability.
Structural damping can be achieved by passive or active methods. Passive methods use the inherent
ability of certain materials (it can be structural or non structural materials) to absorb the vibrational
energy (example, through mechanical deformation), which provides passive energy dissipation. An
active method uses sensors and actuators to attain vibration sensing and activation to suppress the
vibration in real time. The sensors and actuators are usually piezoelectric devices. This review is
focused on materials for passive damping, due to its relatively low cost and ease of implementation
Materials for vibration damping are mainly metals and polymers, due to their viscoelastic character.
Rubber is commonly used as a vibration damping material due to its viscoelasticity. Though,
viscoelasticity is not the only mechanism for damping. Defects such as dislocations, phase boundaries,
grain boundaries and various interfaces also contribute to damping,

will speed up biochemical reactions in the body without being consumed in the process.
2. When hydrogen peroxide was added to the liver, a chemical reaction took place. Catalase enzyme in
the liver acted as the catalyst in this reaction that decomposed harmful hydrogen peroxide into the safe

while water was left behind.

Opioid Pathogenesis
Emerging evidence indicates that free radicals are involved in the pathogenesis of several digestive
system disorders as well as in the regulation of biological processes such as aging. Previous reports
have indicated that opioids induce apoptosis via stimulating an oxidative stress pathway that is
associated with the production of superoxide and nitric oxide (NO) [11]. NO, together with reactive
oxygen species (ROS), has a pivotal role in the regulation of apoptosis and necrosis in various cells.
Hsiao et al. investigated the role of NO and ROS in the morphine induced apoptosis. They found that
the morphine treatment enhanced apoptosis through both NO and ROS pathways [12]. The inducible
nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) enzyme is one of the most important enzymes involved in the generation
of NO from the amino acid L arginine. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, the induction of mu opioid receptor (MOR1) activity can effectively increase
NADH/NADPH mediated ROS synthesis via activating the phospholipase D2 (PLD2) [14]. Then,
NADH/NADPH oxidase is a key downstream enzyme responsible for generating opioid induced ROS.
The role of morphine in the regulating function of NADPH oxidase has been previously demonstrated
[15]. It has been shown that the morphine up regulates the expression of heme oxygenase (HO 1)
which leads to an induced occurrence of macrophage apoptosis and reduced macrophage migration
[16]. Both ROS and MAPK signaling pathways are required for the full induction of HO 1 activity
[17]. Accordingly, the opioids may increase the expression of HO 1 through a ROS and MAPK
dependent manner. The function of some other oxidative stress related enzymes including superoxide
dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), and glutathione peroxidase (GPx) is decreased by opioids [18].

The Internet Is An Amazing Thing
Introduction
The Internet is an amazing thing. Decentralized and global, it is used on a massive scale daily and has
transformed the world. Arising from a group of computer networks that rose up from around 1960
1990, it has gone from accounting for a small fraction of global communications to well over 90% of
them in a matter of decades. It has had an unspeakable impact on humanity, Changing dramatically
business and culture, among other things. The Internet as we know it today is the product of several
computer networks that were created from around 1960 1990. Most notably, the ARPANET
(Advanced Research Projects Agency Network), which was created by ARPA (Now DARPA), the
research agency of the United States Department of Defense. The ARPANET was the first computer
network to use the TCP/IP protocol, the backbone of the modern Internet. The effect that the Internet
has had on business has been immense. More and more, people are starting to do things online that
they traditionally did at a physical building. Banking, shopping, trading, and watching movies. Many
are even predicting that soon traditional brick and mortar stores will be a thing of the past. The
cultural impact has also been huge. Via the Internet, news and information can spread all over the
world in a matter of hours. This has changed the way that people get news and information, as well as
lead to the rise of an Internet culture.

Differences Between 1932 And 1968
There is a commonly held belief among the political savvy that the ideologies of the major parties
seemed to have flip throughout the mid 20th century, more specifically between 1932 and 1968. These
shifts are attributed to mainly to the New Deal Democrats, as well as the demise of the solid south of
the Democratic party. It is entirely correct that geographically, the parties have done a 180 degree flip
since they were established as the prominent parties in the early 1800 s. However, John Gerring makes
the argument in, Party Ideologies 1828 1996 , that the ideologies of the two major parties have been
consistent over that period of time. Furthermore, the perceived shifts in these ideologies are due to the
changing political climate in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gerring argues that, although these themes seem to be in competition, they are actually varrying
attempts to embody the three fundamental values of the Republican party. For instance, the move from
mercantilism to freemarket capitalism, was a move to better promote economic growth, where up until
the early to mid 20th century, having a nationalistic view of economics was beneficial due to a lack of
the technological advances that led to a more globalistic view of economic policy that resulted in the
switch to freemarket capitalism. Furthermore, Americanism and statism, shifted to right wing
populism and antistatism. In large part, this was due to the time period; for, again up until the early
20th century, the party was concerned with preserving what the framers had created due to the
steaming pot of slavery that boiled over into civil war. Keeping with this metaphor, it wasn t until the
mess had been cleaned up that the party could evolve. The key here is that these were evolutions on
how to achieve the ideal of patriotism, for while the country was fragile, believing highly in the state
was not advocating for an expanded state, but advocating for the greatness of the current state, or form
of government. It was only after the state was firmly established, that Republicans began to advocate
against the

A Short Note On Rocket Engine Combustion Instability
Rocket Engine Combustion Instability
Naveen Penmetsa
University of Colorado, Boulder, CO, 80309
C ombustion instability has long been an area of research in the design of both aircraft and rocket
engines. Specifically in terms of rocket engines, combustion instabilities occur in every type of engine
including solid rocket motors, cryogenic engines, hyperbolic engines, and hydrocarbon engines.
Although combustion oscillations tends to exist in almost every engine, the goal is to minimize these
variations in combustion such that any pressure oscillations are below the ambient noise of the engine
itself. In order to reduce the linear and nonlinear coupling that causes these instabilities, it is important
to identify not only the types of oscillations that occur but also the causes for each of these
oscillations.
In liquid engines there are three main types of instabilities. These are chugging oscillations which are
low frequency, buzzing oscillations which are of an intermediate frequency, and screeching which is a
high frequency oscillation. Additionally, instabilities can oscillate in three different direction, due to
the three dimensional nature of combustion. These directions are longitudinally, radially, and
transversely.
Flow States Effect on Liquid Engine Combustion Instability
Overview
The various forms of combustion instability in liquid rocket engines are directly and indirectly

Kodiak Energies paid a heavy price
The shareholders were not pleased about the deception that Kodiak Energy had deceived them on and
quickly showed them the repercussion of lying and stealing from them. Over the next five years,
Kodiak Energies stock went from being worth $3.65 a share to a mere .10. Even though the company
tied to rectify the situation with a restatement, their years of dishonesty caught up to them and they
were unable to rectify their reputation by simply failing a misstatement. Kodiak Electric almost put
themselves out of business by trying to steal $1,125,835 from their shareholders pockets, and
reporting it as additional capital paid in to make it seem legitimate.
Restatements can be helpful if they are used to explain honest mistakes. Misstatements cannot be used
to cover up illegal accounting procedures. Shareholders will take notice and the end results can be
devastating to a company s business.

There was a pie graph from EIA about the United States greenhouse gas emissions in 2009. It showed
81.5% of carbon dioxide is responsible. Also, the responsibility of methane was 11.1%, nitrous oxide
was 3.3%, high GWP gases were 2.7, and other carbon dioxide was 1.3%. As the graph showed,
carbon dioxide takes the biggest part for causing global warming because it is emitted by fossil fuels
which are used for people s daily lives. The cars are the best example of emitting carbon dioxide.
When gasoline is burned, carbon dioxide is emitted to the air. Not only the cars, but also factories,
electricity production and other transportations are responsible for emitting carbon dioxide. Those are
made and built by human beings, and the number one causation of global warming. Also,
deforestation is another factor that causes carbon dioxide. Usually, people know that trees are emitting
oxygen by absorbing carbon dioxide. However, when trees die and decay the mass of carbon dioxide
that were saved in the tress is released. Because people cut and burn the trees now, the more carbon
dioxide is released than before. Once forests are disappears, there will be mass of carbon dioxide in
the Earth by killing trees, and will be no source that turn this gas into oxygen. Methane is another
synthetic gas that is responsible for global warming. It is a gas that more powerful and active than
carbon dioxide, and the second biggest causation of global

Essay on Hans Selye´s General Adaptation Syndrome Model
Hans Selye s General Adaptation Syndrome Model was created by Hans Selye in 1936. The Hans
Selye s General Adaptation Model states that when a stressful event occurs, it acts as a stressor
causing one s body to react to it through three stages if it is not removed. The three stages are alarm
stage, resistance stage and exhaustion stage.
One stressful event that I personally encountered which I will use to apply to the model is the time
when I was representing my school at the National Track and Field Championships for the 800m
event.
In the alarm stage, the body encounters a stressor. The stressor will cause the body to react with the
fight or flight response.Next, the nervous system and hypothalamic pituitary adrenal axis will be ...

The stress can also cause spasms of the throat muscles, making it difficult for me to swallow my

when it was still around and unfortunately is still a part of the monarchy system that remains in Britain
today. In 1867 the British North America Act was established and formed the Dominion of Canada by

Canadians in their everyday lives. Firstly, the royal family who consists of the head of the British

Apart from work and education, today s women also have more freedom: in the way they dress, in
deciding what to do in their lives without necessarily being forced to do what their fathers or husbands
order them, and even more freedom in social relations (more friends, possibility to go out at night,
etc.).
However, it is not all a bed of roses. Apparently, Britain may seem to be one of the most developed
countries in which gender equality has been fully achieved, but if we deeply analyze the situation of
the country, we will see that things are not what they look like. According to the latest investigations,
on one hand, the number of working women is high (more than 14 million British women have a job),
but on the other hand, the gender pay gap is growing too. Eurostat declared that Britain has the fifth
largest gender pay gap in Europe, with a 20% difference between the salaries of men and women. For
example, in the last few years, the average weekly earnings for men rose from £502 to £508, whereas
for women they fell from £413 to £411. Furthermore, related to education, men are still predominant
in the fields of technology, science and economics (about 66%

The War of the Roses and Shakespeare
There are two sides to every issue. The Wars of the Roses went from 1455 1485 AD, which were
fought between the Lancastrians and the Yorks. The Lancastrians was a house descended from John of
Gaunt, this sides symbol was a Red Rose. The York s was a house descended from the second and
fourth son of Edward III, their symbol was a White Rose. Shakespeare wrote a play about Richard III,
taking place three months after the Wars of the Roses ended. Shakespeare s play is summing up
Richard doing anything and killing whoever he had to so he could get to the throne. This play was full
of drama and gore. Shakespeare generally does a good job of explaining historical information, but not
everything was accurate about Richard III. The Wars of the Roses was caused for a number of
different reasons. Some of the causes were social and financial problems as a result of the Hundred
Years War, descendants of King Edward III fighting for the throne, and disgust over the Lancastrian
ruler King Henry VI, who was mentally unstable. General information about the Wars of the Roses
was that it was a battle between two families both wanting the throne, each family was represented
with a rose. The wars occurred over the course of thirty years. From 1455 1460 Richard of York and
his sponsors fought against Margaret of Anjou acting inlace of her husband Henry VI. On December
30, 1460 Richard of York was killed in the Battle of Wakerfield. The descendants of Edward the III
that caused the civil

A Spiritual Perspective On Theological Inquiry Essay
A Spiritual Perspective on Theological Inquiry
Spiritual practice and theological inquiry are not mutually exclusive, rather they possess an intrinsic
connection. This relationship also exists between spirituality and self reflexivity, promoting an
examined life which connects to a larger moral vision that extends beyond the self into the
community. Spirituality, theological inquiry, and self reflexivity interact as a paradox of religious
identity rooted in one s being while also being critically open, fair minded, and participatory in
dialogue. Karl Rahner s The Hearer of the Message delineates the inherent connectivity between
academic and spiritual life, religious tradition and community, theology and self reflexivity. Through
the lense of Rahner, I will argue that the self reflexive writing and pursuit of philosophical theology in
both religious and academic contexts is a spiritual practice.
Obstacles to an Academic and Spiritual Life
Rahner underscores the interlocking relationship of philosophy and theology, and this idea directly
pertains to the relationship between academic and spiritual contexts. Rather than being so opposed, the
love of wisdom is akin to the love of the Divine. Stemming from a collection of sources, I will explore
the relationship of spirituality to the present world, in religious and academic spheres. Schneider s

Bowlby s Attachment Theory
Attachment theory is understood by a deep bond that connects one person to another. Attachment is
characterized by specific behaviuors in children, such as seeking aid from the attachment figure when
feeling apprehensive or fearful.
Attachment theory originated with the work of John Bowlby (1958). Working in a child guidance
clinic in London led him to consider the importance of a child s relationship with their mothers. John
Bowlby working along side James Robertson (1952) revealed children experience intense anxiety and
stress when separated from their mother. Bowlby defined attachment as a lasting psychological
connectedness between human beings . Bowlbys theory of attachment was primarily biological; he put
much emphasis on attachment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The mothers kept a diary in order to note down any evidence in favor of the development of
attachment. Stranger anxiety, separation anxiety and social referencing, this is when a child looks at
carer to see how they respond to a new situation, where all noted down in the children. They revealed
that a baby s attachment develops in this sequence: Asocial (0 6 weeks) Stimuli social and non social
produce a favorable reaction, Specific attachment (7 9 months) Special preference for a single figure.
Primarily develops by one year of age, Multiple attachments (10 months onwards) baby becomes
more dependent thus forming many attachments. The conclusion of the study was that baby s would
more likely form attachments with the individuals who responded accurately to the baby s cues.
Schaffer and Emerson referred to this as sensitive responsiveness.
However attachment is not an all or nothing process, it has been discovered that there may be apparent
variations between children in the attachments that they form.
Ainsworth and Bell (1971) did a controlled observation of children s attachment behavior using the
Strange Situation Classification (SSC); she did this to investigate the individual differences in
attachment by seeing how babies reacted in conditions of mild stress. Ainsworth and bell utilized a
laboratory using structured observations and observed infants aged 12 18 months.
By using a mother, her child and a stranger, they were able to enact a situation where the baby would
experience; separation anxiety, stranger anxiety, reunion behavior and willingness to

PORTFOLIO ANALYSIS
INTRODUCTION Organizations market a mix of products or services or both. These constitute the
offering that is made through the strategic window. Central to the success or failure of a business is the
health of its product (or service) mix. A starting point is the product life cycle concept. This is a useful
conceptual framework within which to study how firms can vary their marketing strategies though of
course as we shall see in later chapters they do have to take other factors into account. There seems to
be little doubt, however, that at different stages in the product life cycle certain marketing strategies
seem to be more appropriate than others. The life cycle concept also points to the different ... Show

One problem that has been found in trying to make use of the product life cycle concept as a
management tool is that many products do not appear to perform in the market place as it suggests.
They seem to bypass some stages while getting stuck at other stages. Moreover, they may even come
into vogue again after a period of going out of fashion. These observations have brought about
criticisms of the product life cycle as a useful planning tool.
EXHIBIT 2.1 SWANSEA ENGINEERING DIFFICULTIES IN USING THE PRODUCT LIFE
CYCLE CONCEPT Swansea Engineering makes wire for industrial uses. Applications range from
wire for cables to carry high voltage electricity to wire for winding on small electric motors for
incorporation in both industrial and domestic products. The firm has tried to use the life cycle concept
to explain generic sales in the market and sales of its own products. Difficulties encountered include
the defining of product markets and the separation from natural growth and decline in the market and
the effects of recession. Indeed in recent years it has proved extremely difficult to assess exactly
where many products and markets are in relationship to their anticipated life cycles. Ironing out the
fluctuations caused by economic recessions and mini booms causes one of the major problems. In

Tumors And Tumors
Tumors and tumor like lesions usually been discussed in a large category, because their appearances
sometimes are similar and make differential diagnosis extremely difficult. But tumors are non
neoplastic lesions, while tumor like lesions are not, therefore, treatment and prognosis of these two
groups of disorders are usually different. The incidences of tumors and tumor like lesions have big
differences in literature, this may due to the classification of benign, malignant and non neoplastic
conditions usually overlap (Casadei et al., 2013; Pluot, 2009). In addition, some cases are

Imaging appearance of patellar GCTs is usually similar to the lesions occur in other sites(Singh et al.,
2009), and they are characterized in radiographs and CT as eccentric soap bubble like lytic bone
lesions, without sclerotic margins or mineralization, transition zone to normal bone is narrow(Pluot,
2009). Pathologic fracture and septations are frequently reported, and the septations are usually thin
and may extend throughout the tumor(Singh et al., 2009). MRI provides more details of the
extraosseous extension cortical penetration and associated soft tissue mass than X ray and CT (Singh
et al., 2009). GCTs is typically demonstrated as low to intermediate intensity on T1 weighted images
and intermediate to high signal intensity on T2 weighted MRI(Pluot, 2009). Fluid to fluid level
indicates blood filled cavities of secondary ABC formation, and areas of low signal intensity suggest
haemosiderin depositions(Pluot, 2009). Completely resection the tumor and patellectomy are the main
treatment of GCT in the patella. Postoperative follow up is necessary to detect local recurrence and
remote metastasize (Malhotra, Sharma, Kumar, Nataraj, 2010). Chondroblastoma Chondroblastoma is
a cartilage neoplasm that typically occurs in the second or third decade of life(Mirra, Gold, Picci,

This is a digital age, we are constantly on our phones looking at Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, texts, or

checking our stories on social media to writing our school essays on a google doc, everything we do is
digitized. What we don t know is that everything we do on the internet is watched and bits of that data
called cookies are collected and stored by companies. The United States needs a law to protect our

The digital age has become our way of life, but for all this information there are consequences like our
privacy. We are constantly being tracked and recorded on the internet. (Risen, P. 1) Tracking, however,
is not the only thing we have to worry about. There are also hackers that get a hold of that private data
a leak it to the world. For example, in the year 2015, 505 data breaches have targeted businesses,
government agencies, and other institutions, exposing more than 139 million records . (Risen, P.) All
of those people had their information spread just by using the internet for things we think and good
and time savers like online shopping. Another example is The 30 million users of AshleyMadison.com
thought they had some privacy until hackers last week exposed their names, addresses and credit card

Declaration Of Independence Persuasive Essay
I couldn t happen, but notice the terrible disagreement you engaged in with your dearest lover Allie.
The way you two were talking to each other and the words that were exchanged appeared to be a huge
conflict. To begin, the first problem you seem to have is relationship dissolution. Relationship
dissolution is the breaking or dissolving of the bonds that hold the relationship together. A huge reason
behind this may be because you are very verbally abusive. When you called Allie names such as pain
in the ass it did not help, but make the conflict worse. Instead of calling Allie names you should seek
to engage in more productive communication such as, not using vulgar words or explaining the issue
is a more appropriate manner. In addition, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Force is when you are act like you are in control and do not give the other person an alternate choice,
but to choose your opinion. Allie needs time to think over her decision. Seemingly, as you are
discussing the issue you are putting an exuberant amount force on Allie to choose you. This is very
unfair because it takes away from what Allie wishes to do. As you are forcing your opinion on Allie, it
takes away her ability to form an opinion on her own. This problem is seen through your conflict as
you make statements such as, Would you just stay with me? or Well I hate you. If you leave here. I
hate you . Each of these statements force Allie into wanting to stay with you instead of giving her
space to make her own decision. A possible solution to this problem would be to use active listening.
Active listening is requiring the listener to be fully concentrated and open to what the other individual
is trying to communicate. While you are actively listening you must not make any judgements about
what Allie is saying. Active listening will allow for you to hear Allie s opinion without adding your
judgement in. Also, this solution will help Allie feel more appreciated and accepted by you. If you
were able to fully listen to what Allie is saying, you most likely would avoid forcing your own opinion

The Greatest Tunnel Ever! Essay
The day had that perfect quality you always associate with childhood memories. I was eight, maybe
nine, at the time of this particular memory, a small, ponytailed, freckled child with dirty legs and
dirtier arms and face, full of energy and hope all children possess when looking forward to playing
with other children. The sun shone through marshmallow like clouds, and although it was only early
afternoon, the tar road had started to bubble under my feet. The ponies tethered at the side of the road
nickered at me in hope of an apple, but I was in too much of a hurry to oblige.
Johnny, my equally dirty playmate, met me at the end of their driveway, his grin gaping where his big
brother, Eddie, had accidentally knocked out his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The darkness was cryptlike after the brilliant sunshine, and the only relief came from small cracks in
the weatherbeaten boards, cracks caused by the shrinking, stretching, then shrinking, season after
season. There, bright sunlight stole in sending golden streaks throughout the barn. Straw dust swirled
and danced in these streaks, creating a magical effect.
I ll race you up! Johnny screeched, heading for the only good ladder. This forced me to dash in the
opposite direction to the makeshift ladder consisting only of wooden two by fours nailed to the wall. I
climbed as quickly as I could, stubbing my toes and feeling splinters bite into my palms in the process,
always careful to avoid the open wiring where I d seen a multitude of birds land and be instantly
barbecued. Reaching the top of the loft, I teetered across the loose board nestled across the levels of
cement floor ten or twelve feet below, leapt across the hole in the floorboards where Eddie used to
drop kittens, Just to see if they d really land feet first every time, cautiously avoided stepping on the
rusty nail my sister, Paula, had once rammed through her foot, and reached to pull John up the last
rung of his ladder into the loft.

Teva Pharmaceuticals Case Study
EXTERNAL ENVIRONMENT (General Environment) A company like Teva Pharmaceuticals is
subject to all of the factors of the external environment given the nature of its business and global
expansion. Pharmaceuticals is an industry where high profits can be achieved, but it is also an
extremely challenging business when one considers all of the political/legal aspects involving
government regulation and patents. Every country has strict regulation and testing requirements for
drugs that affect companies differently depending on their position in the market. Originally,
innovative pharmaceutical companies had to obtain patent protection and FDA approval but this
would translate to years of protection from the generic competition. Once the ... Show more content

Even though the capital requirements are less demanding in generic pharmaceuticals, it is still a very
expensive venture and extremely competitive, making it hard to penetrate as well. The biosimilar
industry is undeveloped and competition is scarce, but it takes a lot of money and expertise to produce
products that are as complex as these pharmaceuticals. Bargaining power of the buyer (pharmacies) is
high in the generics industry that Teva is in. This is because price is what drives everything in generic
pharmaceuticals. Of course, the reason why Teva is so successful is due to their size and ability to take
advantage of economies of scale. Also they own Active Pharma Ingredients and are basically their
own supplier of pharmaceutical ingredients. Often Teva supplies other generics companies with their
ingredients, gaining significant edge over their competition. A new generic supplier would not be able
to support this kind of scale and could not be competitive with a company like Teva. Bargaining
power of Teva as the supplier to other companies is high but its bargaining power towards pharmacies
buying their products goes from medium to low as competition floods the market. Another one of
Porter s five forces is the threat of new substitutes, which is the main problem in the generics market.
A new firm must be cognisant of the fact that every company in the industry will be able to produce

Wine Industry Case Study
Wine Case Study
Problem Statement
The problem that the company must address refers to determining if it is better to develop distribution
and marketing strategies controlled by the company, or to allow the distribution of the products to be
performed by the merchants. This is a difficult decision to make because of its implications. The fact
that the company s wine products are distributed by merchants has its advantages. These merchants
know the market very well, they know buyers, and they know how to attract them. The networking of
these merchants seems to be important in efficiently distributing wine products. But the collaboration
with such distributors also leads to increased costs in the case of Chateau Margaux. In case the
company decides to control its distribution chain, the costs can be reduced. However, this can have
certain disadvantages. Therefore, the company s managers must determine what the company should
do about its distribution process and marketing strategy.
Situation Analysis
The situation of Chateau Margaux can be attributed to the fact that the company has a reduced
marketing activity. The competitive business environment in the wine industry requires important
marketing activities that are intended to help improve the brand s position on the international market.
Therefore, the problems that the company s managers must address refer to developing the marketing
strategy in accordance with the characteristics and necessities of the wine market.

Soft Body Caterpillar Robot More Efficient Than Current...
Adrian Hammer
Hypothesis:
Soft body caterpillar robot more efficient than current robots.
Topic:
To understand why the inspiration of the common caterpillar is used to create the next generation of
soft structure robots and what they will be used for once they are completed.
Description:
The caterpillar inspired robot is one of the first of its kind using a soft body to mimic that of its
inspired. This is one of the main major points of why I choose to pick this instead of any other biology
related topic simply because if it is the same size as a caterpillar it can be used in a vast majority of
different common day practices.
Relevance:
Since this a new improvement upon current robotic technology all its uses are currently unknown but
with the size of a caterpillar it can adapt to a variety of uses such as doctors. Currently doctors use
small cameras attached to a long wire to observe internals but now with this caterpillar it may be
possible to place this inside a body without the help of aesthetic in a few minutes instead of a lengthy
procedure.
Economically it can open up a variety of jobs in the robotics industry creating more work. This can
then be used to try new technologies, materials and replacing outdated technologies.
Ethically it can be used in a variety of medical practises. Just like stated above it can observe organs
and reduce surgery time. If someone had a blood clot inside them, instead of going into a lengthy
procedure of cutting someone open

If they do not get the neccessary socialization, they can become hostile toward other animals, as well as unruly around people. Ivan Sen s 2002 film Beneath Clouds focuses on the stereotypical behaviours of Indigenous Australians highlighting Lina and Vaughn s journey. This also signifies the status and place of the Australian identity today. Through the use of visual techniques and stereotypes the ideas that the Indigenous are uneducated, involved in crime and the stereotypical portrayal of white people are all explored. Similarly the notion of urban and rural life is represented in Kennith Slessor s William Street and Country Towns . In contemporary times the Indigenous are stereotypically represented as being violent and aggressive. Sen is creating a stereotypical image of young Indigenous boys as criminals and dominative. An extreme close up of Vaughn behind jail bars show the separation between Vaughn and society. The stereotype of Indigenous Australians as criminals is shown in a negative light and acts as a false stereotype. The jail bars act as a physical and metaphorical barrier and the use of non diegetic music sets a mood of extreme sadness. Domestic violence is also suggested in the car ride. The women with the child is seen as submissive and this violence acts as usual practise. However, Vaughn does not appear to this stereotype of all males being dominative. There are a number of different genres a person can choose to watch on television, all without taking a step out of their front door. Criminal television shows classify as one of these genres and are one of the most popular. Most of the time, the production of a criminal television show is where an author examines an actual past crime and then uses re enactments to help draw in their audience; some common ones that are usually heard of, in the United States specifically, are CSI, Law Order, Criminal Minds, NCIS, etc. As incorporated in the title, Criminal ... This actor, Mandy Patinkin, had complete access to seeing everything layed out before even put behind screen, but still felt that this show was too dark and he should have taken into more thought on what he was getting himself into. The Difference Between Copy And Simulacrum The following essay will explain the differences between exhibition and cult value as discussed by Walter Benjamin s: The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction (1995). It will define the concept of simulacrum according to Michael Camille s Simulacrum. The essay will also explain Jean Baudrillard s understanding of the lack of the real in contemporary society, how simulacrum threatens the modernist and the postmodernist notions of the real and how these postmodern strategies are no longer relevant. Although we recognise it as realistic it bears little resemblance to reality and the physical world in which we live (Camille 1996:32). One of the most important differences between a copy and simulacrum is that the copy is filled with the resemblance whilst the simulacrum lacks resemblance (Hart 2004:53). The existence of an original is what enables the sense of authenticity, if there is no original there is no question of authenticity (Benjamin 2004:795). In order to gain control of Congo King Leopold would use violent force and control economic monopolies. The missionaries would go on to write about what they experienced and spread the word to inform society of what is occurring. • 25. Introduction to Noise and Vibration Damping INTRODUCTION TO NOISE AND VIBRATION DAMPING Vibrations are undesirable for structures, due to the need for structural stability, position control, durability, performance, and noise reduction. Vibrations are concern to large structures such as aircraft and small structures such as electronics. Reduction of Vibration can be attained by increasing damping capacity and increasing the stiffness. The loss modulus is the product of these two quantities and thus can be considered a figure of merit for the vibration reduction ability. Structural damping can be achieved by passive or active methods. Passive methods use the inherent ability of certain materials (it can be structural or non structural materials) to absorb the vibrational energy (example, through mechanical deformation), which provides passive energy dissipation. An active method uses sensors and actuators to attain vibration sensing and activation to suppress the vibration in real time. The sensors and actuators are usually piezoelectric devices. This review is focused on materials for passive damping, due to its relatively low cost and ease of implementation Materials for vibration damping are mainly metals and polymers, due to their viscoelastic character. Rubber is commonly used as a vibration damping material due to its viscoelasticity. Though, viscoelasticity is not the only mechanism for damping. Defects such as dislocations, phase boundaries, grain boundaries and various interfaces also contribute to damping, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Opioid Pathogenesis Emerging evidence indicates that free radicals are involved in the pathogenesis of several digestive system disorders as well as in the regulation of biological processes such as aging. Previous reports have indicated that opioids induce apoptosis via stimulating an oxidative stress pathway that is associated with the production of superoxide and nitric oxide (NO) [11]. NO, together with reactive oxygen species (ROS), has a pivotal role in the regulation of apoptosis and necrosis in various cells. Hsiao et al. investigated the role of NO and ROS in the morphine induced apoptosis. They found that the morphine treatment enhanced apoptosis through both NO and ROS pathways [12]. Moreover, the induction of mu opioid receptor (MOR1) activity can effectively increase NADH/NADPH mediated ROS synthesis via activating the phospholipase D2 (PLD2) [14]. Then, NADH/NADPH oxidase is a key downstream enzyme responsible for generating opioid induced ROS. The role of morphine in the regulating function of NADPH oxidase has been previously demonstrated [15]. It has been shown that the morphine up regulates the expression of heme oxygenase (HO 1) which leads to an induced occurrence of macrophage apoptosis and reduced macrophage migration [16]. Both ROS and MAPK signaling pathways are required for the full induction of HO 1 activity [17]. Accordingly, the opioids may increase the expression of HO 1 through a ROS and MAPK dependent manner. The function of some other oxidative stress related enzymes including superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), and glutathione peroxidase (GPx) is decreased by opioids [18]. However, Dave et ... Arising from a group of computer networks that rose up from around 1960 1990, it has gone from accounting for a small fraction of global communications to well over 90% of them in a matter of decades. It has had an unspeakable impact on humanity, Changing dramatically business and culture, among other things. The Internet as we know it today is the product of several computer networks that were created from around 1960 1990. Most notably, the ARPANET (Advanced Research Projects Agency Network), which was created by ARPA (Now DARPA), the research agency of the United States Department of Defense. The ARPANET was the first computer network to use the TCP/IP protocol, the backbone of the modern Internet. The effect that the Internet has had on business has been immense. More and more, people are starting to do things online that they traditionally did at a physical building. Banking, shopping, trading, and watching movies. Many are even predicting that soon traditional brick and mortar stores will be a thing of the past. The cultural impact has also been huge. Via the Internet, news and information can spread all over the world in a matter of hours. Differences Between 1932 And 1968 There is a commonly held belief among the political savvy that the ideologies of the major parties seemed to have flip throughout the mid 20th century, more specifically between 1932 and 1968. These shifts are attributed to mainly to the New Deal Democrats, as well as the demise of the solid south of the Democratic party. It is entirely correct that geographically, the parties have done a 180 degree flip since they were established as the prominent parties in the early 1800 s. Gerring argues that, although these themes seem to be in competition, they are actually varrying attempts to embody the three fundamental values of the Republican party. For instance, the move from mercantilism to freemarket capitalism, was a move to better promote economic growth, where up until the early to mid 20th century, having a nationalistic view of economics was beneficial due to a lack of the technological advances that led to a more globalistic view of economic policy that resulted in the switch to freemarket capitalism. Furthermore, Americanism and statism, shifted to right wing populism and antistatism. In large part, this was due to the time period; for, again up until the early 20th century, the party was concerned with preserving what the framers had created due to the steaming pot of slavery that boiled over into civil war. Keeping with this metaphor, it wasn t until the mess had been cleaned up that the party could evolve. The key here is that these were evolutions on how to achieve the ideal of patriotism, for while the country was fragile, believing highly in the state was not advocating for an expanded state, but advocating for the greatness of the current state, or form of government. • 31. A Short Note On Rocket Engine Combustion Instability Rocket Engine Combustion Instability Naveen Penmetsa University of Colorado, Boulder, CO, 80309 C ombustion instability has long been an area of research in the design of both aircraft and rocket engines. Specifically in terms of rocket engines, combustion instabilities occur in every type of engine including solid rocket motors, cryogenic engines, hyperbolic engines, and hydrocarbon engines. Although combustion oscillations tends to exist in almost every engine, the goal is to minimize these variations in combustion such that any pressure oscillations are below the ambient noise of the engine itself. In order to reduce the linear and nonlinear coupling that causes these instabilities, it is important to identify not only the types of oscillations that occur but also the causes for each of these oscillations. In liquid engines there are three main types of instabilities. These are chugging oscillations which are low frequency, buzzing oscillations which are of an intermediate frequency, and screeching which is a high frequency oscillation. Additionally, instabilities can oscillate in three different direction, due to the three dimensional nature of combustion. These directions are longitudinally, radially, and transversely. Flow States Effect on Liquid Engine Combustion Instability Overview The various forms of combustion instability in liquid rocket engines are directly and indirectly affected by the state of the flow from the inlet of the injector to the throat of ... As the graph showed, carbon dioxide takes the biggest part for causing global warming because it is emitted by fossil fuels which are used for people s daily lives. The cars are the best example of emitting carbon dioxide. When gasoline is burned, carbon dioxide is emitted to the air. Not only the cars, but also factories, electricity production and other transportations are responsible for emitting carbon dioxide. Those are made and built by human beings, and the number one causation of global warming. Also, deforestation is another factor that causes carbon dioxide. Usually, people know that trees are emitting oxygen by absorbing carbon dioxide. However, when trees die and decay the mass of carbon dioxide that were saved in the tress is released. Because people cut and burn the trees now, the more carbon dioxide is released than before. Once forests are disappears, there will be mass of carbon dioxide in the Earth by killing trees, and will be no source that turn this gas into oxygen. Shakespeare s play is summing up Richard doing anything and killing whoever he had to so he could get to the throne. This play was full of drama and gore. Through the lense of Rahner, I will argue that the self reflexive writing and pursuit of philosophical theology in both religious and academic contexts is a spiritual practice. Obstacles to an Academic and Spiritual Life Rahner underscores the interlocking relationship of philosophy and theology, and this idea directly pertains to the relationship between academic and spiritual contexts. Rather than being so opposed, the love of wisdom is akin to the love of the Divine. Stemming from a collection of sources, I will explore the relationship of spirituality to the present world, in religious and academic spheres. • 43. Bowlby s Attachment Theory Attachment theory is understood by a deep bond that connects one person to another. Attachment is characterized by specific behaviuors in children, such as seeking aid from the attachment figure when feeling apprehensive or fearful. Attachment theory originated with the work of John Bowlby (1958). Working in a child guidance clinic in London led him to consider the importance of a child s relationship with their mothers. John Bowlby working along side James Robertson (1952) revealed children experience intense anxiety and stress when separated from their mother. Bowlby defined attachment as a lasting psychological connectedness between human beings . Bowlbys theory of attachment was primarily biological; he put much emphasis on attachment ... Stranger anxiety, separation anxiety and social referencing, this is when a child looks at carer to see how they respond to a new situation, where all noted down in the children. They revealed that a baby s attachment develops in this sequence: Asocial (0 6 weeks) Stimuli social and non social produce a favorable reaction, Specific attachment (7 9 months) Special preference for a single figure. Primarily develops by one year of age, Multiple attachments (10 months onwards) baby becomes more dependent thus forming many attachments. The conclusion of the study was that baby s would more likely form attachments with the individuals who responded accurately to the baby s cues. Schaffer and Emerson referred to this as sensitive responsiveness. However attachment is not an all or nothing process, it has been discovered that there may be apparent variations between children in the attachments that they form. Ainsworth and Bell (1971) did a controlled observation of children s attachment behavior using the Strange Situation Classification (SSC); she did this to investigate the individual differences in attachment by seeing how babies reacted in conditions of mild stress. Ainsworth and bell utilized a laboratory using structured observations and observed infants aged 12 18 months. By using a mother, her child and a stranger, they were able to enact a situation where the baby would experience; separation anxiety, stranger anxiety, reunion behavior and willingness to ... • 44. Portfolio Analysis chapter two PORTFOLIO ANALYSIS INTRODUCTION Organizations market a mix of products or services or both. These constitute the offering that is made through the strategic window. Central to the success or failure of a business is the health of its product (or service) mix. A starting point is the product life cycle concept. This is a useful conceptual framework within which to study how firms can vary their marketing strategies though of course as we shall see in later chapters they do have to take other factors into account. There seems to be little doubt, however, that at different stages in the product life cycle certain marketing strategies seem to be more appropriate than others. The life cycle concept also points to the different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One problem that has been found in trying to make use of the product life cycle concept as a management tool is that many products do not appear to perform in the market place as it suggests. They seem to bypass some stages while getting stuck at other stages. Moreover, they may even come into vogue again after a period of going out of fashion. These observations have brought about criticisms of the product life cycle as a useful planning tool. EXHIBIT 2.1 SWANSEA ENGINEERING DIFFICULTIES IN USING THE PRODUCT LIFE CYCLE CONCEPT Swansea Engineering makes wire for industrial uses. Applications range from wire for cables to carry high voltage electricity to wire for winding on small electric motors for incorporation in both industrial and domestic products. The firm has tried to use the life cycle concept to explain generic sales in the market and sales of its own products. Difficulties encountered include the defining of product markets and the separation from natural growth and decline in the market and the effects of recession. Indeed in recent years it has proved extremely difficult to assess exactly where many products and markets are in relationship to their anticipated life cycles. Ironing out the fluctuations caused by economic recessions and mini booms causes one of the major problems. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Tumors And Tumors Tumors and tumor like lesions usually been discussed in a large category, because their appearances sometimes are similar and make differential diagnosis extremely difficult. Pathologic fracture and septations are frequently reported, and the septations are usually thin and may extend throughout the tumor(Singh et al., 2009). GCTs is typically demonstrated as low to intermediate intensity on T1 weighted images and intermediate to high signal intensity on T2 weighted MRI(Pluot, 2009). Fluid to fluid level indicates blood filled cavities of secondary ABC formation, and areas of low signal intensity suggest haemosiderin depositions(Pluot, 2009). The way you two were talking to each other and the words that were exchanged appeared to be a huge conflict. To begin, the first problem you seem to have is relationship dissolution. Relationship dissolution is the breaking or dissolving of the bonds that hold the relationship together. A huge reason behind this may be because you are very verbally abusive. When you called Allie names such as pain in the ass it did not help, but make the conflict worse. Instead of calling Allie names you should seek to engage in more productive communication such as, not using vulgar words or explaining the issue is a more appropriate manner. In addition, ... Allie needs time to think over her decision. Seemingly, as you are discussing the issue you are putting an exuberant amount force on Allie to choose you. This is very unfair because it takes away from what Allie wishes to do. As you are forcing your opinion on Allie, it takes away her ability to form an opinion on her own. This problem is seen through your conflict as you make statements such as, Would you just stay with me? or Well I hate you. If you leave here. I hate you . Each of these statements force Allie into wanting to stay with you instead of giving her space to make her own decision. A possible solution to this problem would be to use active listening. Active listening is requiring the listener to be fully concentrated and open to what the other individual is trying to communicate. While you are actively listening you must not make any judgements about what Allie is saying. Active listening will allow for you to hear Allie s opinion without adding your judgement in. Also, this solution will help Allie feel more appreciated and accepted by you. If you were able to fully listen to what Allie is saying, you most likely would avoid forcing your own opinion on ... I was eight, maybe nine, at the time of this particular memory, a small, ponytailed, freckled child with dirty legs and dirtier arms and face, full of energy and hope all children possess when looking forward to playing with other children. The sun shone through marshmallow like clouds, and although it was only early afternoon, the tar road had started to bubble under my feet. The ponies tethered at the side of the road nickered at me in hope of an apple, but I was in too much of a hurry to oblige. Johnny, my equally dirty playmate, met me at the end of their driveway, his grin gaping where his big brother, Eddie, had accidentally knocked out his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Johnny screeched, heading for the only good ladder. This forced me to dash in the opposite direction to the makeshift ladder consisting only of wooden two by fours nailed to the wall. I climbed as quickly as I could, stubbing my toes and feeling splinters bite into my palms in the process, always careful to avoid the open wiring where I d seen a multitude of birds land and be instantly barbecued. Reaching the top of the loft, I teetered across the loose board nestled across the levels of cement floor ten or twelve feet below, leapt across the hole in the floorboards where Eddie used to drop kittens, Just to see if they d really land feet first every time, cautiously avoided stepping on the rusty nail my sister, Paula, had once rammed through her foot, and reached to pull John up the last rung of his ladder into the loft. Teva Pharmaceuticals Case Study EXTERNAL ENVIRONMENT (General Environment) A company like Teva Pharmaceuticals is subject to all of the factors of the external environment given the nature of its business and global expansion. Pharmaceuticals is an industry where high profits can be achieved, but it is also an extremely challenging business when one considers all of the political/legal aspects involving government regulation and patents. Every country has strict regulation and testing requirements for drugs that affect companies differently depending on their position in the market. Originally, innovative pharmaceutical companies had to obtain patent protection and FDA approval but this would translate to years of protection from the generic competition. Once the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even though the capital requirements are less demanding in generic pharmaceuticals, it is still a very expensive venture and extremely competitive, making it hard to penetrate as well. The biosimilar industry is undeveloped and competition is scarce, but it takes a lot of money and expertise to produce products that are as complex as these pharmaceuticals. Bargaining power of the buyer (pharmacies) is high in the generics industry that Teva is in. This is because price is what drives everything in generic pharmaceuticals. Of course, the reason why Teva is so successful is due to their size and ability to take advantage of economies of scale. Also they own Active Pharma Ingredients and are basically their own supplier of pharmaceutical ingredients. Often Teva supplies other generics companies with their ingredients, gaining significant edge over their competition. A new generic supplier would not be able to support this kind of scale and could not be competitive with a company like Teva. Bargaining power of Teva as the supplier to other companies is high but its bargaining power towards pharmacies buying their products goes from medium to low as competition floods the market. Another one of Porter s five forces is the threat of new substitutes, which is the main problem in the generics market. A new firm must be cognisant of the fact that every company in the industry will be able to produce the same ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 50. Wine Industry Case Study Wine Case Study Problem Statement The problem that the company must address refers to determining if it is better to develop distribution and marketing strategies controlled by the company, or to allow the distribution of the products to be performed by the merchants. This is a difficult decision to make because of its implications. The fact that the company s wine products are distributed by merchants has its advantages. These merchants know the market very well, they know buyers, and they know how to attract them. The networking of these merchants seems to be important in efficiently distributing wine products. But the collaboration with such distributors also leads to increased costs in the case of Chateau Margaux. In case the company decides to control its distribution chain, the costs can be reduced. However, this can have certain disadvantages. Therefore, the company s managers must determine what the company should do about its distribution process and marketing strategy. Situation Analysis The situation of Chateau Margaux can be attributed to the fact that the company has a reduced marketing activity. The competitive business environment in the wine industry requires important marketing activities that are intended to help improve the brand s position on the international market. Therefore, the problems that the company s managers must address refer to developing the marketing strategy in accordance with the characteristics and necessities of the wine market. ... Topic: To understand why the inspiration of the common caterpillar is used to create the next generation of soft structure robots and what they will be used for once they are completed. Description: The caterpillar inspired robot is one of the first of its kind using a soft body to mimic that of its inspired. This is one of the main major points of why I choose to pick this instead of any other biology related topic simply because if it is the same size as a caterpillar it can be used in a vast majority of different common day practices. Relevance: Since this a new improvement upon current robotic technology all its uses are currently unknown but with the size of a caterpillar it can adapt to a variety of uses such as doctors. Currently doctors use small cameras attached to a long wire to observe internals but now with this caterpillar it may be possible to place this inside a body without the help of aesthetic in a few minutes instead of a lengthy procedure. Economically it can open up a variety of jobs in the robotics industry creating more work. This can then be used to try new technologies, materials and replacing outdated technologies. Ethically it can be used in a variety of medical practises. Just like stated above it can observe organs and reduce surgery time.
