– Digital Technology
– Proliferation of hardware
– Synergy & Cross media convergence
– Local and global audiences
– Technological convergence
– Also remember all processes: funding, production, marketing, distribution, exhibition
(consumption) and exchange
• What number for James Bond film? How does it similar/different to previous ones
• How does it compare (similarities/differences) with previous ones? (actors/story etc)
• Who is director (what is their reputation? Previous films etc)
• Who are actors? (what are their reputations/roles……..is their role important? (consider part of
marketing)
• Production company?
– Are they horizontally or vertically integrated?
– Is it a parent or subsidiary company? (if subsidiary – who is wider owner?) (also, what
other companies do they own?)
• Budget? (cost to make)
• Film making locations? (real sets and studios?
• Film making details – technologies?
• How was it edited/special effects etc.
• How is it a ‘british film’?
• How is it an ‘American film’?
• Who is the audience? (also consider local and global)
– Consider synergies and marketing strategies…..
• Distribution company/companies?
– For different countries?
– For cinema?
– For DVD?
• How was it advertised/marketed? (get everything!)
– Above the line marketing?
– Below the line marketing?
– Technologies/convergence with marketing?
• Marketing strategies? (other than traditional like website/social networking etc)
– Look on marketing slide for full list!
• Synergies and cross media convergence? (what companies did it hook up with and why?
– Coke zero, heineken, nail varnish, phones, ADELE – (music) to name some!)
– Production synergy?
– Distribution synergy?
– Marketing synergy?
– Exhibition synergy?
– Where was it shown/exhibited?
– Cinema vs home entertainment
• What was box office income?
• What was profit (in relation to budget/cost)
• What was DVD sales/income?
• Where else can you watch it at home? (itunes? Netflix? Lovefilm? Etc)
• HOW can you watch it? (what platforms? PSP, consoles etc) – how does this relate to audiences?
