- 11. What is Skyrim? Skyrim is a totally open-world medieval rpg in which you can do exactly as you please. It takes place in the fantasy world of Nirn. The continent is Tamriel and the country is Skyrim, the home of the Nords. Dragons have returned to the world to bring it to it’s end and you are the Dragonborn, a person born with the soul of a dragon. Only you can stop them. Skyrim is divided up into nine holds (regions) with their own capitals and towns: Whiterun Hold: Whiterun Eastmarch: Windhelm Falkreath Hold: Falkreath Haafingar: Solitude, the capital of Skyrim Hjaalmarch: Morthal The Pale: Dawnstar The Reach: Markarth The Rift: Riften Winterhold: Winterhold and the Mage’s College

Whether you pursue the dragons to stop them, be a villain and terrorize civilians, become a werewolf or vampire, even ride your own dragon and be feared all over Skyrim. Helping or killing those you meet, the choice is yours.
