It also doubles to describe how their existing investments can connect. It assists on faming that full fidelity is the best experience, and partial has some drawbacks. Discussion points: In context of the SMART Room System, we support either Lync 2013 in Server, or whether it is in the cloud 70% of employees are internal; 30% are external – with Lync it doesn’t really matter The blue lines show how you can connect to a Lync call…lets walk through it Lync 2013 client – whether adhoc or scheduled, Lync 2013 has a full fidelity experience connecting to the SMART Room System. Additionally this client can tell when it is connecting to a scheduled meeting with a SRS, and will actually ask you (are you in the room) which if you say yes, will automatically mute your speakers and microphone. Because Lync is so flexible, you can join a Lync session with a previous version and still participate in the call. This is important when you are connecting with stakeholders outside your organization, where you cannot control what version they are on. Lync mobile has taken a massive step forward here…. With being able to do voice and video on three major platforms, IOS, Android and Windows. Additionally tablets as they have the real estate can participate on the content in the meeting…. The Lync web app can allow any device with a modern browser and access to the internet to join a meeting…without having Lync…very powerful for outside participants, and flexibility of device. Additionally to this new created category of Lync Room Systems, you can also be able to have a calling community with the larger Lync compatible list that is growing everyday. The great news here is that you can continue to have a series of options on how to connect these devices to this new Lync world. Firstly, some manufactures offer native interoperability with certain model numbers of its products. Provided you have the necessary model and license, you can natively connect that via SIP to your Lync environment Secondly, you have options like gateways, MCU’s, to negotiate interoperation of voice and video to Lync. Additionally, there are emerging “room solutions” which allow you to take your room assets and emulate then as a computer peripheral, and allow for a full fidelity experience over Lync - like vaddio’s AV bridge. Lastly, through federation, now you can add Skype to interoperate with as well…IM presence, voice, and very soon, video. Great for HR interviews, international calling with suppliers…etc…. In the case for only interoperating voice and video, many customers still initiate Lync on a computer within the room to be able to participate in the content channel portion of the call.
