This paper discusses the application of static synchronous compensators (STATCOM) as flexible AC transmission systems (FACTS) devices to enhance voltage stability and increase the capacity of power transmission systems. The study employs MATLAB/Simulink simulations to compare the performance of STATCOM and static var compensators (SVC) under various conditions, demonstrating that STATCOMs provide faster response and better reactive power support, particularly during fault scenarios. Ultimately, the findings suggest that implementing STATCOM technology can significantly improve efficiency and reliability in modern smart power transmission systems.
