- 1. Snow Scene Luminaries Virtual Program with Make-It, Take-It, Share-It Kit
- 2. • Black cardboard • white stencil snow scene • glass container • Mod Podge: matte, hardcoat, sparkle • White paint • One sponge brush • Two brushes with different thickness • Craft knife • Tea light candle Your kit should contain the following supplies
- 3. • Clean the surface with some alcohol and tissue paper to ensure it’s free of dust and lint. • Trace your stencil that is provided or I have included a picture of a scene that I think would work much better. • You will just need to draw this yourself on the black cardboard paper. It does not have to be perfect. It looks better if houses aren’t perfect, very whimsical. Instructions:
- 4. • Now, cut out your winter scene. I used sharp scissors to cut the outside portion. You get a more precise cut if you use your craft knife for the whole thing. Put something underneath your black cardboard that is thick so you don't cut the surface you are on.
- 5. • This is messy and will probably go easier if you give your black cardboard some curve by rolling it gently up and holding for a couple seconds. It should adhere easier to your glass container this way. • Once done cutting, "glue" it to the vase with some Mod Podge Matte and your sponge brush, and then coat it with another layer after everything has been stuck on.
- 6. • After it dries, it’s time to add some fun sparkles! Use the Sparkle Mod Podge provided and the bigger brush to create the effect by brushing the sparkly Mod Podge only on the bare areas (where there is no black). • A few layers would be great as you want to build up the sparkle effect. Let dry.
- 7. • Next use your white paint and small tipped brush to add snow to your vase. Take your time and use the very tip, you want the snow as small as possible. • The tip of a pencil may actually work better than the brush, it’s up to you.
- 8. • Once that is dry, add a coat of Hard Coat Mod Podge to seal everything and you are done. • A tea light has been provided, but you can use this jar for some candy treats or whatever else you can think of.
