Over the past ten years, the entire globe has altered communication, business, media, marketing and more. • Many of your friends, family, co- workers, neighbors, and past acquaintances are most likely using some form of social media. • Social media includes well known names such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Google+ and MySpace

In exchange, they are also PUBLIC and you do not own nor can you ever erase (you may delete, but nothing on the internet can ever truly be forgotten) posts, pictures, or sensitive information. • Be aware that anything you put into your profile can be found by others. Preferences, location information, opinions, and more are seen by companies, friends and family, and strangers that you do not have a connection to. You do not need to put anything on social media that you don’t want others to know about you. • Due to how easily available social media is to people with an internet connection, there will always be fake accounts, lewd comments, and uncensored materials. Be especially aware of online fraud schemes at all times to prevent thieves from getting personal information. Never share your bank account information to your social media website. Be aware of what you post and be sure you understand that it is being recorded and used by friends, foes, businesses, government, and the website itself.
