Blogging Leveraging Social Networking for Nonprofits http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blog A blog (a contraction of the term " web log ")[1] is a type of website, usually  maintained by an individual  with regular entries of  commentary ,  descriptions of events , or other material such as  graphics  or  video . Entries are commonly displayed in  reverse-chronological   order .  "Blog" can also be used as a verb , meaning to maintain or add content to a blog. Many blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject; others function as more personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and  links to other blogs ,  web pages , and  other media related to its topic . The  ability of readers to leave comments  in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs.  April 2010
Why Blog? A blog is a place where you can share real time thoughts, stories, insights and news. People can easily share testimonials, personal stories, supportive comments and even questions. Tips for Blogging Write in a conversational tone. Address different audiences. Keep it short and sweet - 250 to 500 words is optimal.  Break up large blocks of text into sound bites.  Come up with an attention grabbing title. Include an image.  Include links.  PowerPoint can be embedded using SlideShare. Run surveys and polls to get readers engaged. Blogging & RSS Really Simple Syndication. Allows readers to subscribe to frequently updated sites. RSS feeds can be read using an "RSS reader", "feed reader", or "aggregator", which can be web-based, desktop-based, or mobile-device-based. Feedburner is an example of an RSS reader from Google.
