Solution preparations
Solution is a liquid mixture in which the
minor component (the solute) is uniformly
distributed within the major component (the
solvent).
Solution = solute + solvent
1.How many grams of Dextrose would there
be in 500mL of 5% Dextrose?
1.How many grams of Dextrose would there
be in 100mL of 25% Dextrose?
1. How will you prepare 10% of Dettol solution?
2. How will you prepare 750 ml of 5%
Savlon solution
Formula for Calculation of solutions
Desired strength= strength of the solution required.
Stock strength = strength of the concentrated solution
what we have
Volume required = Amount of solution to be prepared
Desired Strength × Volume Required
Amount of solute required = Stock Strength
Water Required = Volume Required − Solute Required
How will you prepare 2000ml of 1: 5000
potassium permanganate solution
1:5000 means that 1g of potassium permanganate is
dissolved in 5000mL.
Ans: 1g = 5000mL
1000mg = 5000mL
? mg =2000ml
1000mgx2000ml = ? mgx5000ml
1000mgx2000ml = ?mg
5000ml
400 mg to be mixed with 2000 ml of water to prepare
2000ml of 1:5000 solution.
