The study analyzes the structure and dynamics of regional labor markets in Finland, particularly focusing on gross job and worker flows from 1988 to 1997 across 85 regions. It relates regional turnover rates to macroeconomic indicators, demographic factors, and industry structure, finding similar effects of various factors on net changes in employment and unemployment through different means of influencing gross changes. The research emphasizes the importance of examining gross turnover flows in understanding regional unemployment disparities.
