This document appears to be the portfolio of Arushi Gupta from Srishti School of Art, Design and Technology from the 2013-14 time period. The portfolio showcases various projects exploring different mediums like paper mache, metalworking, different types of paper, jute, material exploration, woodworking, drawing, filmmaking, and exploring various communities through examining food. Many of the projects aimed to empower women and build identity. Some specific projects highlighted include exploring aluminum through cutting and joining, comparing inks on paper under light, making a jute jacket, examining spaces and memories, a film exploring color and mood, and understanding communities related to food. - 1. Arushi Gupta Srishti School Of Art, Design and Technology PORTFOLIO 2013-14
- 2. Art is.. This is a depiction of my identity and thought process that was within me at the beginning of life at Srishti. Women empowerment and building our identity was our main focus.
- 3. Thinking hands Understanding hands on work and applying our concepts using different mediums like paper mache, linkage, electronics, crank etc .
- 5. Metal Exploring aluminum by cutting, burning, painting and joining. Paper Tried different inks on 16 different types of paper under the same light. Jute Made a jute-go green jacket exploring jute rope and sac. Material Exploration
- 6. Understanding and unraveling spaces People and their memories make a space, the place which could be real or metaphysical.
- 7. Zeenat Aman has had a graver history of physical abuse than any other actress in Bollywood. She was probably among the first actresses in Hindi film industry who was totally comfortable with her sexuality. She, in her portrayal of a bold and confident woman, was at least a decade ahead of her counterparts. Her relationship with actor Sanjay Khan was a violent one, be it in her house or a five star hotel. The space in that room is very much different from what is we see outside. Domestic violence is one such issue that differentiates between the space that is inside a house which is real but what we know, being outside is fake. To show domestic violence and speechless but bold woman’s life I am making a wardrobe with beautiful saaris on hangers which are burned, tore, with pins on it and blood all over. Those saaris are to symbolize the hope and aspirations a woman has even after what she is bearing. Although every minute of her life she faces pain and suffering, she keeps her clothes so nicely and expects to be loved one day.
