Why should I be interested in the
Stress and Trauma Programme?
Let me tell you a quick story...
A 29 year old who
ticked all the boxes
Successful CA, the
man, the house, the
car and just gave birth
to her 3rd child.
Everything done so
well
An ‘A’ student, cum
laude pass,
entertained, did school
rounds and part of the
PTA
Master of
Multitasking
She made it look easy
Does this perhaps sound like you or
someone you know?
It’s ME and I had a proper mental episode...
One day the house of cards so perfectly stacked
came tumbling down and I realised it was just
so precariously balanced.
In all this striving for perfection I was just hiding from
myself.
If I was truly honest with myself in many moments pre-
breakdown (when I wasn’t distracting myself with searching):
- Feelings of anxiety and being overwhelmed
- I felt really sad and alone and squashed down my emotions by
comfort eating
- I “people pleased” to avoid conflict
AND FOR WHAT?
I didn't know myself or why I was doing
anything that I was doing? Why was I on this
stressful hamster wheel anyway?
- Was it because all that I was striving for was what I really
wanted?
- Was it the promise of the feeling it was marketed to give
me? Would all this give me that feeling I needed?
All I was looking for was a need to feel safe and
belong!
I started from scratch! At
the age of 30 with 3 kids all
under the age of 5.
I spent the next 8 years
refashioning myself with the
help of amazing practitioners
from all disciplines
I re-explored like a teenager
● Multiple practitioners
● Multiple modalities explored - Medical intervention,
psychologists, Art therapy.
● I journaled, meditated, adopted mindfulness and
breathework techniques.
● I tried body talk, reiki, chiropractors and physiotherapists to
help with the chronic pain and then kinesiology and TRE to
release emotional pain.
Found what worked and implemented the
tools after years of trial and error.
Long story short
It took me about 8 years of trial error with up to 30
different alternate and medical therapies and all my
savings
BUT
I found what worked
I started understanding how well it worked when
perfectly timed and my perfect dosage of each.
As long as I felt safe with a therapist I benefitted.
Then I started thinking about other people out
there who needed the same help.
My husband, Dr Essack Mitha, and I sat together. We
discussed what it would mean for Joan Soap out there to
find a holistic, safe solution to the Trauma of dealing with
Trauma and Stress.
With our professional expertise, as well as the
experiences of me helping myself, we created an all
encompassing, supportive, empowering model.
