- 5. From Research to Report ⦿ Research is like gathering the pieces of a puzzle ⦿ Writing is like putting the puzzle together
- 6. Report Structure ⦿ What is the problem or issue? ⦿ What are the consequences if it is not solved? ⦿ What is the solution you are proposing? ⦿ How will this solution solve the problem? ⦿ Why is this the best solution? ⦿ What is the plan for implementing this solution? ⦿ What are the obstacles? ⦿ If you can’t answer… do more research!
- 7. Workshop Part 1 ⦿ Your issue is blindness (AMD and RP) ⦿ Your solution is an artificial retina ⦿ You have completed your research ⦿ It’s time to write your report!
- 8. Workshop Part 2 - Exercise ⦿ Write one to two sentences for each: ● What is the problem or issue? ● What are the consequences if not solved? ● What is the solution you are proposing? ● How will this solution solve the problem? ⦿ Write no more than eight sentences total
- 9. Report Fundamentals ⦿ Structure ⦿ Clarity ⦿ Easy to read ⦿ Interesting ⦿ Persuasive ⦿ Correct format (MLA), grammar, spelling ⦿ Be fun and creative!
- 10. Best practices ⦿ Get an editor ⦿ Have others critique your work ⦿ Read it out loud ⦿ The best writing… is re-writing ⦿ Make it simpler and clearer… and then go back and make it simpler and clearer ⦿ Be original, fun and creative ⦿ It can always be better!
