Subhash Chandra Bose was an influential figure in the Indian independence movement. He was born in 1897 in Orissa and strongly influenced by Swami Vivekananda's teachings. Though he passed the civil service exam in 1920, he resigned the following year to participate fully in the freedom struggle. He disagreed with Gandhi's principle of non-violence and was twice elected president of the Indian National Congress. In 1941, he fled British house arrest and traveled through Germany and Japan to form the Indian National Army to fight for India's independence. Though the circumstances of his death in 1945 are mysterious, he remains a revered figure for his leadership in the independence movement.

- 3. Early Life Born on january 23,1897 in Cuttak in Orissa. Father Janakinath Bose and mother Prabhavatidevi. He was strongly influenced by swami vivekananand’s teaching.
- 4. Indian Civil Service 1920, Bose passed the Civil Service open examination. His urge for participating in the freedom movement. April 1921, Bose resigned from the coveted Indian Civil Service.
- 5. Who Guided Netaji? The Vedanta &the Bhagwat Geeta were the sources of his inspiration for struggle with the British. Bose had clearly expressed his belief that democracy was the best option for India He adored Vivekananda as his spiritual Guru.
- 6. Netaji With Congress The jalianwala Baugh massacre had disturbed him greatly. Went to Gandhiji and offered himself to work for the Indian national congress. Gandhiji sent him to Calcutta to work under deshbandhu Chittaranjan das. He was mainly involved in the activities around Calcutta.

- 8. Formation Of Azad Hind Fauz Started a mass movement against utilizing Indian resources and men for the great war. He was put under house arrest in Calcutta. In january 1941, Subhas Chandra Bose disappeared from his home. Reached Germany via Afghanistan. Working on the maxim that "an enemy's enemy is a friend”.
- 9. •Germany, where he instituted the Special Bureau forIndia.He founded the Free India Centre in Berlin. •The lack of interest shown by Hitler in the cause of Indian independence eventually caused Bose to become disillusioned with Hitler and he decided to leave Germany in 1943. • He travelled by the German submarine U-180 around the Cape of Good Hope to Imperial Japan. •This was the only civilian transfer across two submarines of two different navies in World War II. •In 1943, bose left for south-east asia and raised the army. •The group was later named by bose,as the indian national army (INA). 99 Bose became commander of the INA &head of the free India provisional government.
- 10. Why Best Leader? Had a clear goal decided . Worked for nation’s interest ¬ his own interest. Collected all the powers, which guided him to the freedom ,and did not leave the job half done. Formed his own army.
- 11. Mystry Of Death Bose was posthumously awarded the “Bharat Ratna”award. Disappearance of bose was a mystery which could not be simplified by the story of his death.
