2012 Ministry Review

 Cornerstone Bible Church
Opening comments
• Review strengths and weaknesses
• Admit we are still growing
• Choose one or two specific actions
Strengths
A- Elder Leadership
The elders care for, protect, and lead the congregation,
as the Bible instructs them to do.

B Unity
In general, there is a feeling of unity and fellowship
     in our church.

B- Sermons
The Sunday morning sermons are helpful
     for my spiritual growth.
Elder Leadership
Instructing, leading the congregation in
prayer, leading the church in a Biblical
manner

Handling matters that come up as the need
arises before they turn into big problems.

Being available to talk to. having an
aproachable spirit, willing to listen, even if
they disagree.
Elder Leadership
Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your
care, watching over them—not because you
must, but because you are willing, as God
wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest
gain, but eager to serve; not lording it over
those entrusted to you, but being examples to
the flock.
                                  1 Peter 5:2-3
Unity
Friendships!! The time after the service and
lunch is a great time to get to know each
other. I have never been to a church that
knows each other this well. In fact, it's been
only at Cornerstone that I know everybody's
name!

The best thing about the fellowship of our
church is that we make ourselves available to
each other each Sunday morning as we ask
about each other's lives.
Unity
Some of the children feel there are cliques
forming, and feel left out. i don't know
exactly how to address this. I've instructed
my own to look for those who are by
themselves and invite them to join the play
or conversation, and to stand with a group
and listen and comment on the topic being
discussed, but above that, I don't know what
to tell them.
Unity
All the believers were one in heart and mind.
No one claimed that any of their possessions
was their own, but they shared everything
they had.
                                      Acts 4:32
Sermons
The clear teaching and the power points.

Deep, challenging messages and a willingness
to take a stand on "controversial" issues.

I really appreciate how Pastor Knocker takes
time out of his week to put the sermons
together. I also like that they are very
interresting.
Sermons
It's hard to hear over the chairs
rattling, etc. and pastor is soft spoken.
Weaknesses
F Personal Devotions
On average, I spend time in devotional Bible study
    this many times a week.

F Patience with Children
I struggle with anger and impatience toward my children.

F Missions: Justice
Our church cares for the poor, the sick,
the widows, the fatherless, the oppressed.
Personal Devotions
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the
counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the
way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the
scornful.

But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in
his law doth he meditate day and night.

                                 Psalm 1
Patience with Children
The Wrong Pattern
• Child does not do what you want.
• You are
  – frustrated (because you cannot control)
  – embarrassed (by how that makes you look)
• You react in anger.

What is the right pattern?
Patience with Children
Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your
care, watching over them—not because you
must, but because you are willing, as God
wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain,
but eager to serve; not lording it over those
entrusted to you, but being examples to the
flock.

Missions: Justice
Our church cares for the poor, the sick,
the widows, the fatherless, the oppressed.

• Today’s work day
• “Is there anyone in Asheboro willing to ride to
Siler City on Thursday nights with a mom and
  her non verbal Autistic son?”
• Other ideas?
Deacons Strengths
Helping set up every Sunday AM

Their willingness to serve and help where
needed.
Deacons Areas for Improvement
• Two specific criticisms
• Add another deacon (1 Timothy 3)
• Work towards goal
Mid-week Activities
Mid-week "home groups" are missed, but this
might not be feasible with the drive that
some families would have to make.

I would like to see some occasionally. I can
see how it would be hard due to everyone
living so far from each other...but still
beneficial.

Mid-week Activities
• Continue as is.
• Except, try to mix it up a little bit more.
• Stay on Sunday afternoon whenever possible.
Sunday Afternoons
1. Fellowship meal
2. Women’s meeting
3. Leadership meeting (and sewing)
4. Men’s meeting
Women’s Meeting
The women's fellowship time is providing a ‘safe’
place for us to open up and share our burdens
with one another and pray for one another. It is
nice to know I am not alone in my struggles in
this Christian life and it is good for us to pray
for and encourage one another. I believe this
will produce much growth in our lives and in our
relationships!
Women’s Meeting
I think the women's accountability meeting
should be dissolved… I get a lot of
accountablilty from my husband. I am not
looking for this on Sunday with other women.
Sunday Afternoons
1. Fellowship meal
2. Women’s meeting
3. Love and Respect DVD?
4. Men’s meeting
Church Planning
What should we work towards first?

59% A church building
18% I'm not sure
12% Outreach
6% A full-time pastor
6% Several elders sharing preaching

Financial Stewardship
50% We are financially supporting
Cornerstone the way that the Lord
    would have us do.

50% We are *not* financially supporting
Cornerstone the way that the Lord
    would have us do.
Plan on Church Building
• Continue saving money.
• Put a classified ad in the Courier Tribune.

I would like to add…
I'm praying for more people to join
Cornerstone.

What happened to the drums??

I really appreciate Cornerstone. It's the
best church my family has ever been to.
Everybody gets along, agrees with each
other, mentors each other, and is friends
with each other.
I would like to add…
I would like to see parents doing a better
job of keeping their children in their seats
during the sermon. I realized we have a lot
of small children who are still being trained
and I am not talking about that. Please have
your kids get water, snack, and a bathroom
break during greeting. There is no reason a
child over 6 needs to get up 5 times during a
45 minute sermon.
I would like to add…
I think I would really like something for the
youth of the church to do. Definitely NOT a
youth group, but maybe a service project of
some sort. I've been looking for ways to be
of some help to my community...or my church.

I love my church :)
