This course equips pre-service teachers with pedagogical content knowledge to teach science effectively to elementary students. It covers content in chemistry and biology, inquiry-based teaching strategies, developing instructional materials, and assessment. Students learn about the nature of science, constructivism, the 5E inquiry model, and technologies that support science learning. They develop lesson plans using a spiral progression approach and apply strategies through micro-teaching demonstrations. Assessment of scientific processes, inquiry, attitudes, and content is also covered. The goal is for students to gain expertise teaching science concepts and designing lessons that engage learners through hands-on activities.
