This document is the syllabus for a 3 credit hour psychology course on information literacy. The course will be taught in the fall 2009 semester by Dr. Rose Perrine and will focus on developing skills in reading, evaluating, summarizing and writing about scientific literature in psychology. The required textbook is listed, as well as the instructor's goal to help students understand and get excited about the research process. Six main student learning outcomes are outlined, including gaining information literacy skills, understanding scientific vs. non-scientific approaches, comprehending and analyzing research articles, evaluating research validity, writing in APA style, and learning about career options in psychology.
