- 1. WRITING WORKSHOP ON TALES ABOUT INDIA DONE BY THE STUDENTS OF THE PROFESSIONAL SCHOOL FROM RDT IN ANANTAPUR
- 3. To create a platform coordinating different actions for Education for Development through arts and culture, using languages ( multilingualism) as an essential tool to work intercultural and solidarity competences. To foster that: learning a language is not only speaking it but learning the culture that uses it and to which it belongs. To Implement literary education in the development of intercultural competence : integrating the teaching of English, interculturality, diversity and values (friendship) through the CLIL model Getting a multilingual tales collection in which all cultures are reflected through their stories and their tales
- 4. Translate tales into English Gather them to create a book Offer the book to an NGO Raise funds for a solidarity project related to culture and/or education
- 7. They shouldn´t be very long,no more than 2 pages on both sides and typed with the computer. They must be about India and its traditions, no matter the region, preferably from Anatapur or from the Andhra Pradesh state.
- 8. The tale must be invented and created by yourselves.Use your imagination.Think of traditional Indian tales,but be creative don´t copy from the original version. The stories can be about any topic related to your culture and traditions such as: Indian food,religion,local festivities,festivals,dances,famous people,geography,local names,history,etc.
- 9. From time to time,use names of places and people, expressions,greetings,festivals in your local language:Telugu. The tale is a free choice creation, it should transmit a message, a moral and it has to be invented. So girls,feel free to use your creativity and imagination!!
- 10. At the end of the book there will be a short glossary with the words in Telugu you will have used in your tale with their English translation. Apart from this,any person having drawing skills could also participate in the picture illustration for the book.

- 12. The teacher will do the Spanish translation of your tales and if everything goes OK they might be published. - 13. Before starting to write the tale, decide about the title first. Think of aspects such as:characters,settings,place,time and the kind of tale you want to write about (love story,fairy tale ,fantasy,drama,child story,historical,comedy,etc.
- 14. Make use of dictionaries(bilingual-English – telugu/telugu-English paper edition or online) as in many cases you will need descriptive words or words related to some specific semantic fields (cereals,plants,festivals,etc)
- 15. Beginning a Story When you write a story it is important to make an impact right from the start. No one wants to read a story any further when it is boring at the beginning! •Catch the reader’s attention • Make the opening dramatic • Make the reader want to read on • Take the reader straight into the story
- 16. • Describe the setting: Describe where the story is taking place. • Describe a character: Describe the main person in the story, remember how you describe them must have an impact on the story. E.g. “Jim was an unlucky boy…” Jim being unlucky must have an impact on the story line, e.g. Jim loses his wallet etc… • Action: Straight into the excitement, characters are doing something Dialogue: The characters are speaking to each other. .
- 17. The middle of the story must keep the reader’s attention that you caught with the beginning. Keep the action going, develop the characters and story line. Remember that you need to start a new paragraph when something changes.
- 18. • Change of setting: The action in the story happens in another place. • Change of time: The story moves on to another time that day or the next day etc… • Change of person: A new character is introduced, they may say something or just be described. • Change of event: Something new happens in the plot
- 19. The conclusion of a story is really important, you don’t want to disappoint the reader by giving them a weak ending, it can spoil the whole thing! • Draw all the threads of the story together • Resolve any conflict within the story • Complete the telling of events
- 20. • Conclusive: Draw to an end all the events that have happened in the story. • Cliff – hanger: Leave the reader in suspense, wondering what will happen next. • Reflective: Narrator or a character, thinks about something that has happened in the story, this can be done with direct speech.
- 21. So, now it is time to think of a story for your next tale.In the next sessions we will be working in the making of the tale itself, so bring all the materials you might need including a brainstorm of ideas to be developed during your writing.
