Target Audience Survey
Results Analysis
Question 1: What is your age?
 71.4% of our responses were 17-22year olds. This our
target audience, which means are survey was very
successful and our results will be valid.
Question 2: Genre
• We found that pop music is the
most popular music genre,
however a lot of music is
produced for this so we would
have a lot of competition.
• Indie rock was the second most
popular genre, which is the one
we have chosen. We want to
appeal to an alternative
audience, and not just
mainstreamers. Therefore this
genre will appeal to more a
minority.
Question 3: Favourite music Video
 We received a range of answers for this question, but
that is what we expected. However it is clear that a lot of
people enjoyed band based videos, rather than a single
artist or narrative.
 This means that using a band in our video will appeal to
our target audience.
Question 4: Colour
• Even though colour
was the most popular
answer for this
question, we have
decided to use black
and white.
• B&W is conventional
of indie rock music
videos, and 23% of
our target audience
still wanted to see this
in music videos.
Question 5: How often do you watch music
videos?
 This question shows that our target
audience frequently watch music
videos. No one stated that they
didn’t watch music videos, which
means many people will view ours.
 It also shows that music videos are
the perfect tools to promote an
artist.
Question 6: Favourite artist/band
 Bands were very popular for this question. For example
Guns n Roses, The Beach Boys, Bring me the Horizon, One
Republic, Years & years and The Neighbourhood.
 This shows that our choice of using a band, will appeal to
our target audience.
Question 7: Music Video Styles
• 48.57% of our target
audience enjoyed
concept music videos,
therefore the alternative
style we have gone for
will appeal to them.
• Even though the
performance
percentage was low, we
still feel that it fits with the
genre, therefore we will
still use this aspect.
Question 8: Operating systems
• It’s obvious that IOS and
Android are now more popular
than a desktop computer.
Therefore we need to make
sure that our video, and
website are accessible on
these devices.
Question 9: Pace
• 51.43% of our target
audience like to see a
mixture of paces. This is
something we had already
considered doing,
therefore we will continue
with this idea.
• It will also keep the video
interesting, and not boring
Question 10: Would you visit a
band/artists webpage?
 71% of our target audience said that they would visit a
website, with even more people saying possibly. This
shows that the target audience will visit the site that we
make, which will therefore help promote our band.
 It will also make sure that we can advertise new songs,
tour dates and products for sale.
