The three tasks were:
• To create a campaign which involves the creating of the band and
building the star image
• Final products to include a combination of ancillaries such as the
music video and the CD digipack, which would be promoted through
the web site
• With the final aim of making the band look professional and for the
star image to be strong
Our products were CD digipack,
the actual music video and the
web site
Star Image
• The star image is used to
brand the product, thus
making audience to
remember the particular
image more than the music
(but not in all cases). The
next step is the creating of
different range of products
for audiences across a range
of different genres
• According to Dyer, Star Image
makes audience to associate
the look/style of the artist
with the particular genre of
music. Some people even
idolise bands or singers, and
see them as sex symbols,
fashion icons and celebrities
Music video
What we aimed for was to create
an effective music video, which
would match the professionalism of
other indie/rock bands:
• Making close-up shots of our
singer, thus applying the concept
of star image
• Making medium close-ups of the
whole band to show how they
simultaneously perform
• Creating a calm and relaxed
atmosphere which is frequently
used in all our genre music clips
• Using close-up shots of the
instruments, thus supporting the
organic star image
CD digipack
For CD digipack what we aimed for
was to produce our own unique
product and second of all make it
appear black&white, thus
conforming the convention of
other albums with the
same/similar genre e.g. The
Neighbourhood or The 1975
• CD digipack helps to promote
the whole band as well as the
our logo which is diamond
• We included all the main
aspects such as the name of the
band; the logo of the band; the
songs included in CD and the
barcode
Web Site
The web site created is based on
the existing style, which is
portrayed by the indie/rock bands
Mainly all web sites contain
information, which publicizes and
promotes the band image.
Therefore the main aims we were
looking for were promoting the
single or album release;
promoting the tour life or live
appearance and merchandizing
i.e. posters of an artist or band
What did you want to associate the band
with?
While creating the whole
campaign we wanted
audience to associate our
band with other famous
same type genre bands
which are ‘The
neighbourhood’ and The
band ‘1975’
• Representing
rebelliousness
• Teenage life
• The youth sexuality
• Freedom
• Creativity
Vals of our audience
Believers – The lyrics of the song are about a
hard life and broken hard, while hope exists and
will never die
Romantic people – People who strongly believe
in love and are considered to be melancholic,
sentimental, loyal
Emotional – Such people are quit weak to some
extent and are very easy to get emotionally hurt
Target Audience
• 17-21 (young adults)
• Indie/Hipster
• Users of social network
• Dope smokers
• Shisha smokers
Where the product will appear?
• Facebook
• YouTube
• Twitter
• Vimeo
• Vevo
• MTV
How will we advertise the product?
• In Magazines
• Posters on cars and buses
• TV (advertisements during the program)
• Popular social network
Where the product would be able to
be purchased?
The main source of revenue would sales through
Internet
• Amazon
• ITunes
• HMV Store
• Any other shop selling music
Four Ps
Our potential consumers are likely
to be from middle class therefore
the price would be more than
affordable for them. Digitally one
single will cost £0,99
like any other song, and album on
hard copy will be available for
£6.99
The product as already mentioned will have a variety of
ways to be purchased
The packaging of the CDs will be made of plastic and will
contain a small scrap of paper where a recent photo of
the band or an individual member will be
We also would make some extra bonuses when buying
the product, such as a chance of seeing a real-life
performance or meeting the actual crew, this is if only
you get very lucky
Four Ps
The music clip would be shown in
the main music channels across the
country such as MTV or VH1. The
shops, where the product will be
would be mainly located in high
streets, in areas where a lot of
people are or where teenagers
gather
Promotion is significantly
important since a good
advertising campaign will
guarantee higher revenue, thus
more money to be further spend
on advertisements and
increasing the word of mouth.
Conclusion
• Personally I believe that our ancillary products
have been both effective and productive
• Each step has been thought carefully
• Researching into online media and other real
media practices has helped us in a way that we
had a better idea of how things should be done
• To conclude, we did a very hard work and spend a
lot of time on attempting for campaign to look as
nice as possible
