What kind of media institution
might distribute your media product
              and why?
What is a distributor?
A distributor is an idivdivdual or an organsiation
who represents films at festivals or markets so
basically advertises them , around the entire
world. They then attempt to sell it on the
telelvison, airlines and other companies that
want short films.
Is your film going to appeal to the UK
             audiences only?
Our film will mostly appeal to the UK audiences
, so people that can speak and understand
english can watch it , as in the title sequence
and the opening and end the reporter is English.
It is important for the audience to know what
the news reporter is saying , as it introduces the
story line straight away , and you wont really
understand the film properly if you don’t watch
the sequence as it explains it.
Small British film distributors distribute films
through the use of :
- Company websites
- Social networking
- Downloading
- Personal recommendation
- Youtube or any other video realted website
Scream productuions would be a production
company that would be intrested in our final
product as the company produces mainly thrillers
and scary films. The genre of our film is defiantly
something that Scream productions would defiantly
be intrested in producing. We choose the name
Scream productions as we felt that the name really
fitted well with the genre of our film and maybe
gives the idea off to the audience that the film
could make you want to scream at some points.
When choosing our distribution company we
thought we would either choose Rogue pictures
or 20th Century Fox as they distributed the films
Taken and the strangers , which our film idea is
inspired from. In the end we did decide on
using TME productions, as it was a much lower
budget and they have a lot more experience on
lower budget films.
How would our film be funded?
We wanted our film to be national lottery
funded as they normally fund lower budget
films.
What’s a low budget film?
A low budget film is a motion picture shot with
little or no funding from a major film studio.
Many independent films are made on low
budgets, but films are made with inexperienced
or unknown filmmakers who also have low
budgets. The disadvantage of having a low
budget film is that they are much harder to
advertise and have a lack of marketability.
